Bunner's Bake Shop in Kensington Market is a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious vegan and gluten-free baked goods. They offer a wide variety of treats, from cakes and cookies to bars and other desserts.
I was particularly keen to try their pies, but unfortunately, they were sold out by the time we arrived. This speaks to their popularity, so I'd recommend arriving early for the best selection.
Despite missing out on the pie, I was still impressed with the other options available. I especially enjoyed their date squares, which were both sweet and chewy.
As a celiac, I was almost glutened here. When I asked a server if the beer was gluten free, I was told everything on the menu was. But when my lager arrived, the bottle listed barley. I double checked with another server, who confirmed it wasn’t gluten free, apologized, and kindly brought me a quinoa-based beer instead (which was good, just a little warm).
I don’t want to be too harsh. Overall, the food was great, and it’s such a gift to have a spot where I can enjoy a tres leches cake without fear. But this experience is a good reminder to always double check, even in places that seem safe. It also highlights how important it is for all staff to be fully trained on gluten and allergens.

You can sprout a new love for gluten-free eats at this local cafe, and you'll hardly miss the gluten. The sandwich is as satisfying as it looks, with ingredients that come together to deliver a delicious bite where basil is the star. They also have a mini side salad, but I opted for an orange almond cake too, and the citrusy addition pairs nicely with the sweet, nutty almond base.
In my humble yet educated opinion (18 years celiac ) this is the best bakery I have ever eaten at. Great options for the dairy free and vegan eaters as well. From the ease of ordering 2 loaves of olive bread to the warm friendly atmosphere at the store my experience was perfect. I walked in expecting bread and left with so many sweet and savoury treats. Great little store for products as well. If you’re in the area for work or for a holiday and have special food needs this is the place to check out .
This place was incredible!!! We looked for a safe gf place for our celiac daughter, and this one was such a treat in that it is all gf. But even more amazing was the healthy, plentiful and incredibly tasty meals we had. We left fully satisfied and it kept us going for a very long time. Amazing service as well. Would highly recommend! Thank you for giving us an amazing meal. We hope for Impact restaurants to come to Vancouver, our home.
Sushi was delicious and great gluten free options. Staff was wonderful and tables were clean, as well as the rest of the establishment. Great experience would recommend.
Absolutely LOVE this spot, have eaten in-restaurant twice over the last year, and ordered delivery multiple times, with someone Celiac at home we have NEVER had any issues with gluten!
Food is delicious and fresh, service is spectacular, honestly absolutely love this place!
We’ve had oysters, fish & chips, tacos, poutine (also a fan of their vegan options for poutine, garlic aioli and tartar sauce!), their deep fried Oreos are to die for, and the selections for beers and drinks are always nice!
(Ps, sorry for the almost demolished food pic, have tried and failed to take a picture before digging in for almost a year now)

! Celiac disease friendly !
So many options/substitutions for celiacs. My husband was able to enjoy a breakfast sandwich with home fries... that looked and tasted great! The pricing was fair and affordable which was also a plus. This will be our go to spot when visiting Toronto.
Wow! I was visiting from the states for a concert that got cancelled but I guess that was a blessing in disguise as that gave us a chance to stop here to eat. The owner/server was friendly and accommodating. The food was fantastic! I have celiac so I was absolutely drawn here for the GF options. They asked about dietary restrictions up front and I felt comfortable and safe. The food was delicious and my non GF fiancé loved it as well. Dedicated fryers are hard to come by (at least back home) so I took advantage of having one of my old favorites, poutine! It was perfectly layered so each bite was tasty, not like a lot of places that will just dump the gravy and cheese on top leaving you with a plate of dry fries underneath. It was also my first crab cake in years, and it really took me back to the Lexington Market in Baltimore when I was younger (it was actually better). The margarita hit the spot and the homemade hot sauce was super tasty. I will 100% be stopping back next time in I’m Toronto, thank you so much!!!
Myself and another coworker along with three people we support had dinner at this location. We sat on the patio. My experience at a different Scaddabush location was not that great so I was apprehensive about eating at this location. But it was the best decision we made and that was because Mark our waiter made sure we had a great experience. Mark was Awesome! He was friendly, patient, accommodating and was just over all a great person It was also great especially for the gentleman with us who eats gluten free. Thank you so much Mark! Keep smiling! Keep being Awesome! We appreciate you!
Fantastic service, they were so kind and happy to help us when we visited. Food was amazing, and everything can be prepared gluten free in dedicated appliances so there is no crosscontamination. Would definitely come back if we are in town!
I came here to dine in last weekend for the first time, closer to their closing time and was greeted very nicely and food was very amazing! I love all gluten free idea. My drink was a bit bitter so i went and asked for a different drink, the supervisor (im assuming, short brown guy) was very rude to me and said, “what do you want then?” And then slammed the drink on the floor. This is ridiculous behaviour. I understand the hurry to close but this is not the way to go!

Visiting Toronto from US. This is our first time at a Burger’s Priest and it will definitely not be the last. We are so thoroughly impressed with how delicious the food was here. We thought it was going to be like any other fast food burger joint, but it was definitely better. We ordered burgers, fries, a hotdog, and a milkshake. All delicious. We have a gluten allergy in the family and the gluten-free bread was so much better than any they’ve had.Nina greeted us with a huge smile and was super accommodating

I am embarrassingly obsessed with the sriracha pineapple cauliflower wings here. They’re gluten-free, dairy-free, sweet, spicy, crispy, and served on a bed of crunchy kale. It’s technically an appetizer it’s honestly a full meal lol. The portion is huge and so so good. Whenever I’m hungry and don’t know what I want, my boyfriend knows to just pick these up for me and I’ll be a happy girl.
We’re moving out of the city soon, so they shared the recipe for the wings and the sauce with me for when I’m craving it - 10/10 staff.
Whether you're plant-based or not, get them.
This was my second time eating here and although the food was delicious giving my celiac wife Tom Yum soup that wasn’t prepared gluten free is unacceptable. We came here back in September because of there large selection of items that can be made gluten free and celiac safe. The server who helped us the first time was very knowledgeable and said they would take extra caution.
This time we told the server at least three different times that my wife was celiac and we will order everything gluten free. She still asked about allergies and then assured us everything would be gluten free. A different server or food runner brought the soup and then walked away. Our server brought the mains and said both dishes are gluten free. When we got the bill the two main dishes said **allergy next to it but the soup didn’t. I was hopeful that it was a typo and the soup was gluten free…not 10 minutes later as we got back to the hotel my wife’s celiac flair was in full force and she was out for the night in pain.
It’s disappointing that a restaurant with a Michelin star would be this careless
The Gluten Free Tabulé and the pita bread was great! Everything I had was Gluten Free and we all had a great dinner and evening, we even purchased Kefte to cook at home.

My to-go dinning joint when I wish to eat at Toronto’s BEST vegan and plant based fine dining cuisine at Planta- Toronto Queen Street location. From wait staff to servers and of-course the food- the bestest of ALL. I have soy and gluten allergy and the kitchen took care of my dietary request-with utmost love and care. I enjoyed my meal very much like always and I have been a patron for almost 10 years now. Because Planta is Planta. Thankyou :)

Food is decent. It's great that they have a gluten free eggs benny. Potatoes were definitely undercooked. It is always busy and a zoo to get in - not necessarily worth the wait to get in.
Sometimes it's hard having celiac disease. Today our group went for sushi and I unfortunately couldn't eat anything there. Lucked out and Sweets from the Earth was close by! I met Olivia and she was so friendly and sweet! She gave me coupons and bonus cookies too!
This cozy cafe had an amazing selection of delicious and beautiful treats.
Vegan, gluten-free, savoury and sweet....it met all our needs!!!! We will make this a regular stop between Ottawa and Kitchener !!!!
I love Beertown. Not just because they satisfy my foodie cravings for meat, nutrition and flavour…but also because they cater to the dairy and gluten-free side of me with an ENTIRE MENU OF GOODNESS.
A great place to create your own gluten-free bowl, just the way you like it. A special mention for their paleo pecan pie bar: delicious 🤤
Build-your-own gluten-free bowls + their paleo pecan pie bar = 🤤
Unfortunately they ran out of the food I really wanted to try (the achiote chicken quesadilla), but the rancheros were really good anyways. Loved the homemade hot sauce and ketchup as well. My partner and friend thought their iced coffee was a little watered down tasting/not strong enough, but even for them the food made up for it. They had the brisket hash. Really cute place, the patio looked like a nice set up as well. Good options for people who eat vegetarian and gluten free. Service was friendly and attentive as well!
Great atmosphere and food! Lots of gluten free options available and staff were very accomodating. We had the yellow curry with chicken and the ginger stir fry with beef and extra vegetables - great flavours
Very affordable! Bright, clean, and with plenty of space. The food was delicious. Lots of options on the menu and meals for everyone (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.) The employees were respectful and friendly. I will definitely be back!

Absolutely love eating here, the vibe is amazing and the staff are top tier! The food and atmosphere are so unique and as a Gluten Free Vegan who doesn't drink, trust me when I say this is a haven.
I have been a few times so I have tried most of the food. Alot of the menu is already edible for me as is, but the majority of the menu can be accommodated to a vegan and/or gluten free diet which is amazing. The mocktails are equally fantastic.
Watching the chefs at work in the open kitchen is the best, and the Management team and Madison in Events are always the most generous and accommodating. If you are so lucky to have service from Joseph, you will leave a very happy and full man!
Can't wait to be back in the summer for Jungle Brunch!
Seeing the unique name of the cafe and the fact that the cakes were vegan made us visit this place. Though there is less seating place inside, there is a large patio at the back. I wonder how this space would be used during the winter season?
We ordered a coffee and a chai along with some cakes and we were not disappointed. The chai was excellent and tasted like desert. The cake was dense and tasty. Not overly sweet. I wish it was a gluten-free one. The service, too, was good, and we had fun chatting with the baker+ server. This place seemed popular as quite a few people were dropping in to have their coffee and some savory items. Unfortunately, the cakes we wanted weren't there, hence the selection was less.
My mom is dying in a hospital from colon cancer (whole life as undiagnosed celiac). She's barely eating anything and in palliative care. She asked me if I could get her some sancocho (very popular Latin soup). I drove to Colombian Street Food as they're 100% GF place. I ordered one soup for me and one to go for her.
The Mexican girl in the front asked me how my day was going. I explained that I just needed a nice soup for Mom in hopes that she would eat something. She's lost a lot of weight and is all bones due to the cancer. She asked me if she could chew and I said not really. She asked me if she could cut up the soup meat and veggies in tiny pieces so she could eat it. How thoughtful!!!
When I got to the hospital and I opened the bag, she had packed up very nicely and even written "Mamita", Mommy in Spanish ❤️❤️
As you look to support restaurants, think of the mom and pop shops that work tirelessly to support people with allergies and medical issues and so thoughtful!
A great place to go if you and your friends enjoy sci-fi/fantasy/horror themes. A lot of care and effort has gone into making it a fun place to have drinks and food. The staff and service have always been friendly and accommodating. One of our group is celiac and one is vegan and we have never had an issue.
Accidentally stumbled upon this place and super surprised to find out everything is gluten free! All the ice cream flavours and the cones! Staff was super friendly and nice, ice cream itself was so good and they have alcohol infused ones that tasted amazing. I only got the ice cream to go but they have a cute set up for drink pairings as well - I'll definitely be coming back to try that.
While looking for a gluten-free breakfast spot in Toronto on Find Me Gluten Free, we came across a highly-rated place and decided to give it a try. I must say, this is the best gluten-free and vegan spot I've tried here, especially for the coffee. I ordered a mocha, and it was the best cafe mocha I've ever had. Made with real dark chocolate, it had that distinct bitter taste, complemented by coconut cream and a splash of maple syrup, along with some added spices—it was amazing. We also had steel-cut oats and a chocolate muffin. The muffin was delicious, not overly sweet, gluten-free, and vegan. If you're ever in Downtown Toronto, check this place out; you'll love it.
