I’d avoid the GF bun it’s very dry and crumbly but they the most celiac safe place I know! Dedicated fryers, very knowledgeable staff and amazing GF fried chicken! When you order online they even have a celiac option to check off.
Thank you SO MUCH for all the gluten free options. Amazing service. Place could do a masterclass on poached eggs (my grandmother would have been very impressed)
Ginger snap, oatmeal, and Linzer cookies were amazing!
Fruit muffin with jam filling was light, airy and filled with berries.
It’s always a wonderful surprise when a gluten-free bakery pops up unexpected in a mall you’ve never been to before. You made my day! I can’t add any photos because I ate them all so quickly.
An okay diner it feels kinda tight and is loud but the fact it's gluten friendly is a big plus and on top of that the food tastes absolutely amazing, which is hard without gluten. Coffee was not fun and it was super busy. Overall it's a cute place every once in awhile, though I don't think you'd want to make it a regular spot.
New owner (Raj) has really outdone himself! The new layout is beautiful—a fun, fresh vibe for sure! Food is still delicious, lots of variety (the gluten free fish n chips are AMAZING!), and the staff are very friendly. Will come back for sure!
I went there, they told me they were not dedicated. Half of the kitchen is gluten free, and the other 1/2 is not. This listing needs to be updated. Can you please update this listing ?
Fantastic little diner on the east side of Airdrie, tucked into a strip mall... easy to find with plenty of parking nearby.
Went for Sunday brunch and weren't disappointed. One of our party is celiac and requires a gluten free menu, Abe's features many GF options, the veggie scramble was amazing. The rest of us enjoyed burgers and a chorizo Benny. Good if not great service so we will be back. Especially for the gluten free pancakes!
Saw them on *you gotta eat here* and the meatloaf was truly out of this world. Gluten free waffles were great too ... and holy smokes the endless coffee
Mel’s Diner offers a classic diner experience with friendly staff, good food, and a retro vibe. We came at 9:30 on a Sunday and had a 20-minute wait for a table to open for 5 people, which felt like a reasonable wait time. There was counter seating available for smaller groups. We ordered quite a lot of food, and all of it was pretty good— nothing life-changing but a good, solid diner breakfast, with surprisingly good coffee. I typically find diner coffee to be pretty underwhelming. Mel’s menu also caters well for vegan and gluten-free people, which is something a lot of diners and breakfast places are missing. Mel’s has been around for a long time, and it makes sense why good food at reasonable prices with something for everyone on their menu.
Food was delicious! I’m gluten and dairy free and they were super accommodating! Gluten free pasta with no dairy it was great! Even had an amazing Cesar salad without parm or croutons. Did not expect this for a sit and order spot. Atmosphere makes you feel like you’re actually sitting in a restaurant but it’s so affordable (Pasta $13 + $6 protein pre-tax). Staff are so kind and friendly, food was prepared quickly and without errors. Music is a great vibe and it’s very clean. Definitely coming back!!
Great all around. We came here as we had a celiac in the group and almost everything on the menu was gf. Everything was delicious, big menu, great desserts, and our server was very nice.
One of the few restaurants my celiac boyfriend still trusts. However, he got sick 2 times by the cross-contamination. They are not the most careful staff so you have to make sure they understand how severe your celiac disease is and explain to them NO CROSS CONTAMINATION NO GLUTEN and they're usually pretty good. Also good with take outs
Perfect place for a first date, a good catch up with friends, and I’ve even had a couple of business meetings at this location. The restaurant is massive. I’ve had wings at the bar, patio drinks, and full parties in the back corner. The fact that there are so many options, including vegetarian and gluten-free is amazing. There’s a discount card to collect points, you can take beers to go home with you. There’s even a root beer for kids to enjoy as well. I can’t say enough good things about beer town. It’s the place that everyone enjoys. Brunch is a must have!!
Great little burger Shack. Flavor is excellent, and gluten free options are good. The beef is fresh, but patties are thin. Atmosphere gets a 4 star only because it's small, limited seating.
best of both worlds - classic breakfast and smoothie bowls, allergy and gluten conscious! I had the manglo smoothie bowl and it's delicious!!! our server Riley was also superb!

I have Celiac Disease and can be so easily accommodated in this restaurant. I enjoyed the most delicious poutine while my husband enjoyed (as he described) the best cheese burger he has ever eaten. I am not from Sault Ste Marie but I can guarantee, I will be back to this restaurant on every visit as I travel through the area.
**WARNING - Long Review**
To start off, I, being a forgiving imperfect human myself, have eaten at many different establishments. Whether it be “high class” or “whole in the wall” types of places. I’ve worked in the foods & service industry for many years. Only reason why I gave this a two stars, is for the fact that I am showing compassion to our server, who seemed to be either inexperienced or very overwhelmed.
I was not aware of where our dinner reservations were going to be (definitely was not dressed to impress, and don’t tend to really dress to show my status anyway. My skin colour tends to do that for me before I even have a chance to speak, to show those who make judgements/presumptions otherwise… ~ would dressing prettier or more put together made a difference to how everything transpired… highly unlikely!)
When I walked up and saw the sign, I was excited to experience what all the hubbub was about. Our group walked in and we were in very happy spirits, very excited to be uniting to celebrate my sister-in-laws 70th spin around the sun.
We were greeted by a person that didn’t seem too impressed with the volume of our joy and promptly asked us if we had a reservation. It took him a few seconds to find the name and then directed us to follow towards our table. Reservation was for ten people. Set very nicely, in the middle of the room. We were respectful with timing and were not late for our reservation either… we arrived at approximately 6:20pm, the reservation was for 6:30pm.
As we all settled and found our seats, we all noticed that our server wasn’t present. (Which we all agreed was a fair bit odd, as we are all accustomed to have someone either offer to bring water for the entire table, promptly after being seated, or offer a moment to decide on drinks. After about 5 minutes the server finally took the order. Not sure why it took 10 to 15 minutes for the bartender to pour five or six glasses of wine into the mini carafes, along with preparing a couple of glasses of draft, and pouring ginger ale into a glass, but even the water hadn’t been brought to the table yet.
At this point, it was not busy. There were about 8 tables with customers already seated, and possibly had given their order. Can’t say for sure…
After there were a few mixups with which wine belonged to whom and a glass of wine, with what seemed like, to be missing for a good 20 minutes, we were finally able to put our meal orders in. At this point we’d been sitting for just over 30 minutes…
At about 7:15pm (give or take, it may have been later) the server brings a few plates of a sliced baguette with a creamy cucumber butter. For those who could eat it, it went down fairly quick, all voracious by that point, thinking we would be close to finally seeing the light of our meals. Sadly, we were all sorely mistaken. (Personally, I have a severe gluten/dairy intolerance and was not able to enjoy the bread and butter).
One good thing out of all that waiting, our server was able to replenish our water & beverages, when she wasn’t too busy.
At about 7:48pm, still no meals. My husband, sadly, cannot eat after a certain time and he had to ask for his meal to be cancelled. The server seemed a little indignant as to why he was cancelling the order (as some of our group also wanted to do, including myself) and I found it quite ignorant that she would respond in such a way and make it sound like it was inconsiderate of HIM to even make such a request.
It was after 8pm when we finally received our food! Over an hour wait!
When the food finally arrived, the GF/DF seafood **Penne** (there is not a GF Tagliatelle option, and had we known that, we wouldn’t have ordered it), other plates arrived lukewarm also. My sister-in-law and I both sent our plates to get properly heated. It had three cherry tomatoes cut in half, shrimp was tough and the DF sauce was a watery/oily mess at the bottom of the plate. The dish had a kick to it, but no actual flavour. There was zero compensation for the long delay or poor quality of the meal. Would not recommend!!
Great celiac safe barbecue place! Everything is GF except waffles and regular buns, but they take precautions to keep celiac customers safe (changing gloves, etc). They have fantastic fried chicken which is GF, fried only with fries (also GF), and the regular bbq things. Great sandwiches, poutine, and fried chicken!
We had a great experience. Service was great. Food was yummy. There was a dessert flight at the end. We had a couple of food allergies and gluten intolerance and they were very accommodating.

Red Robins, Kamloops has the best gluten free buns of any burger place I have been to. I never feel deprived for having food sensitivities at this restaurant.
We also recently had part of our daughters birthday party here and Jordanne (server) and Nyree (Manager) were so accommodating. The kids menu has so much choice, the bottomless drinks are a hit, and the hot cookie to go always makes the visit for my kids.
Thank you for such a great visit.
Upon arriving, the hostess was great. Our server, Taylar, is a gem! Very knowledgeable, polite, and very pleasant. I wasn’t sure what to order and she pointed out some great items from the gluten free menu. I was very pleased to see such a great variety. She was very attentive to our needs and made sure she checked in at appropriate times. We always love going to GT’s. The food, drinks, music, and above all, the staff are great.
This is a cute little cafe and the staff are so nice.
The food is great, hash browns a little undercooked.
Gluten free options!!! And I mean options not a few select foods! My mother is celiac and hasn’t had a gluten free pancake in anywhere but home for years, she was so excited and absolutely cleaned her plate!! She cannot stop telling people about that pancake and how good it was. For people to not have access to safe foods in so many restaurants is sad, but this cafe goes above and beyond for gluten free food! 10/10 recommend you try this cafe, even if you don’t have any food aversions.
The gluten-free eggs Benedict was okay, but nothing special. The service was really slow, and the server wasn't very clear about what contained gluten and what didn't, but luckily her colleague was.
I am celiac and love eating here. My food is safe and they have a dedicated fryer at the one off of Algonguin Ave.
The staff is amazing and always accommodating.
We had a really nice lunch here and I would definitely go back. I'm starting to think that vegan restaurants just have better food and preparation techniques. Now, if only the donuts were gluten free! And the cinnamon buns too!
I am overwhelmed with happiness from my experience at this barBURRITO today. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac, and have not been out to a fast food restaurant in months since being diagnosed. The gentleman who helped me, was AMAZING. I asked him about his Gluten Free option and asked if he could change his gloves and wipe everything down. He did, and not only that, he made sure that my items did not touch anything that was used with wheat, he made sure to offer me options that were Gluten Free Certified, he changed his gloves multiple times, and even put parchment paper between my items on the heat pad. He was SOOOO diligent and made me feel super safe and happy. I am VERY happy, and would recommend this location to other people whom are Gluten Intolerant as me. I wish I would have got his name, the guy deserves a raise! :D
