Ask for what’s fresh! I was so
Excited for gluten free donuts doughnuts 🍩 I asked for what I wanted - what I should’ve done is ask for what’s fresh! Or freshest?
2 of the 6 I ordered weren’t fresh anymore. They were a little stale. And the coconut oil - which I was really excited about - had gone a little rancid. Who knew?
Maybe they should toss things out quicker? Or maybe GF don’t have the shelf stability. I will definitely be back - for the blueberry, the plain cake, and the plain + chocolate, but I may never eat coconut donut again. Also, the jelly stuffed was really brittle, dry and crumbly. I did make it in right at closing ~ 2 pm.
Great place! I'm not gluten free, but really enjoy eating here and am grateful to have a good place to bring the GF people in my life. Nice options, big portions, reasonable prices, and an extensive bakery. Great customer service. They seem LGBTQ+ friendly and decorated for Pride.
Discovered this hidden gem today. I'm from out of town but the trip was worth it!! I had ordered a breakfast sandwich on the gluten.Free everything toast with sausage, egg and cheese. I was so excited to have another gluten-free bread option. Besides traditional white, the everything bread was very flavorful. Coffee was also great! Check home some gluten free sweets... gluten free chocolate chip cookies, seven layer bars in a gluten, free funny bone
Food was delicious and waiters attentive. My mom loved the coffee. They have Gluten Free options including GF bread. Getting a table for two is much quicker (10 minute wait) than it is for a larger party. We went for brunch.
I never thought, after being diagnosed with Celiac, that I'd get to enjoy a butternut donut the way I did as a kid. It was a staple of my childhood that I didn't know I missed until I got a chance to try it again, and it was 10/10. I cannot recommend them enough to anyone who is Gluten Free. I've had no gluten flare, and I'm highly reactive. And it wasn't a compromise, or a "best we can get". It was genuinely delicious, with the right texture to the dough, crunch, and flavor. I hope the people at Kanes know how much being able to truly enjoy their amazing donuts means to those of us who miss it. Thank you!
OMG Fabulous!! Beautiful gluten free menu as well as a regular menu. Gorgeous food! Wide assortment of hot chocolates! Kind, sweet server! I love this place!
Crave is amazing! They have an amazing gf cheese and herb bread for breakfast sandwiches and can make any breakfast sandwich gf! They also have gf tater tots! And gf cupcakes and scones!
I personally had a great experience here, especially as someone who can’t eat gluten - here’s what you should know.
I personally think everything is very consistent, but the sweet treats are where they really shine.
Bacon and eggs both tasted good and high quality, but very obviously not the most fresh.
The guava pao de queijo really surprised me, its gluten free and filled with a smooth, sweet guava jam on the inside. The taste teleported me back to the same satisfying taste of some guava cookies I ate in Costa Rica.
The WAFFLES. They’re mochi waffles and they’re gluten free, I couldn’t get enough of them.
The matcha was nice and soothing, a perfect way to top off the meal.
Best breakfast sandwich ever! I’m gluten free, but my husband is not. We both agreed that the gf herb and cheese bread is insanely delicious and perfectly paired with the north shore sandwich. Also their dirty chai is yummy. They don’t miss here! 💕
Food is great; lots of gluten-free options clearly marked on the menu. The staff was friendly & service was pretty great. The location, tucked away from the main drag and yet in eyesight of most everything is fantastic & makes for epic people-watching.
White Lion Baking Company is not only a gluten-free facility, but they also cater to other food allergies. The owner Liz, is absolutely wonderful and caring and she and her staff create the most beautiful desserts, breads, soups and sandwiches for those of us with food sensitivities, but for everyone to enjoy! 5 stars!
Large, light and airy (think windows, wicker & large potted plants in an old factory building). However, there was no greeter; we sat at the counter and were ignored. Finally figured out we had to order around the corner at the register. The associate (they were all young) answered the phone while we were ordering. Very rude. We sat at a table and waited for our drinks (first) and sandwiches (a somewhat lengthy second) to be delivered. Gluten-free sandwiches were a disappointment--$10 & $11 for a BLT and a cheese & egg served on small sandwich-sized bread. Large drinks (the size of a Dunkin' medium) were $5 @. Neither of us will ever return. (P.S. Parking is horrendous. We nabbed a spot in the adjacent small lot but we would not have walked over from the municipal garage for the Gallagher Terminal.)
What a fun retro diner! Staff very friendly. Atmosphere great along with music. Food excellent with nice sized portions. I needed a Gluten free breakfast and gf Belgian waffle with very fresh strawberries was delicious! Other gluten free options available too. And real maple syrup available on request at a minimal price.
Something for everyone!!
They have a great surplus of flavors, including Non dairy, Kosher, Gluten free, and of course regular. This is my go-to place for dairy free ice cream because of all their options! They also have dairy free whipped cream, chocolate fudge, caramel, and dairy free treats such as soft serve and blizzards!
Very chill, local vibes spot with a vast menu of options for everyone. Everything that I have ordered is great…loaded fries with bacon, deep fried pickles, crab cakes, baked cod, mozzarella sticks, pulled pork tacos, all good! Probably the best Gluten Free meals that I have eaten on the mid Cape! Plus for all you non drinkers, like me, they have top notch zero proof mock-tails. Service is outstanding and the food is always consistently good. Just go. Hang out, order a lot. Enjoy!

The two workers there on 5/31 were super nice. Definitely ask for a sample if you don’t know what you want. I should note that everything is dairy free which was awesome to hear!
I got the birthday cake ice cream which was delicious and also a 7 layer bar which was soooooo good and also gluten free. Definitely coming back soon!
I recently visited Starving Artist for breakfast, and overall, it was a great experience! I ordered the seasonal "Something Good Crepe," which was a savory delight with brie, turkey slices, and a tangy cranberry jam on top. It was light and flavorful—definitely a unique combination. My girlfriend tried the Crepedilla, which was essentially a savory quesadilla in crepe form. It was good, but not as exciting as the other dishes.
One of the great things about Starving Artist is that they offer the option to make any of their crepes gluten-free, which is a fantastic choice for those with dietary restrictions. It’s always nice to have a place where you can enjoy a delicious meal without having to compromise on flavor or texture, and the gluten-free crepes here are just as tasty as the regular ones. It’s a thoughtful touch that makes the dining experience even more inclusive!
We also shared the "Spiced and Something Nice" crepe, which was a simple yet absolutely amazing dessert. The cinnamon and sugar paired perfectly with the butter, and the side of maple syrup added the right touch. For drinks, the seasonal Egg Nog Latte was a must-try—so decadent and flavorful, it was the perfect winter treat.
The only downside was the seating, which felt a bit uncomfortable, and the live music, which didn’t quite fit the vibe for us. Still, everything else was wonderful, and I’d definitely come back for the food and the latte!
So I never want to talk poorly about a 100% celiac bakery, but I’m not a fan. I got the chocolate pie (big chocolate fan) and it was too chocolatey even for me. I also tried the cranberry lemon cheesecake and it was alright but the crust was very wet.
I enjoyed the meringue I bought. The expiration date is more than 3 months from now. (It’s December 23 and the expiration date is March 18th) When I go to a bakery, I would want something fresher baked. Just seems a little odd for me.
Awesome options for gluten free here and the bread substitute they use is one of the best I've had in the area, so I would love to come back for the food!
Only downside is if you're really into coffee the drip coffee here I think is premade since it came out too quickly to be hand poured and didn't really have the flavour profile that the beans they use could offer, so I'll be skipping the coffee. Matcha was pretty good though.
Second time here, first since the pandemic. Glad we remembered because it's just as good.
Tuesday lunchtime and not too busy, surprisingly but I think we just beat the noon rush. We got the Smokin' Jamaican on gluten free bread, the GF tiramisu and a cup of Joe. The sandwich was delicious, grilled in the panini press with some gorgeous grill marks. The overriding flavour is definitely jerk and mango chutney with the turkey being more background and I really enjoyed that.
The tiramisu is tempting to look at (see pic) with professional layers and a beautiful whipped cream topping with chocolate shavings. Hard to believe it's gluten free.
The coffee is really good if not a touch pricey but it's downtown Boston and there's a Bucks on every corner so they gotta hold their own.
All told, $25 plus tip for a sammich, dessert and a coffee. Not too weird for 2025.
See you on the road.
Can't trust them for food allergies. My wife ordered a meal and specifically said gluten free. I had asked for a gluten free menu when we were seated. I ordered "same". They served me the gluten free version and her one with regular bread. The server even blamed her for not saying she needed gluten free. I know mistakes happen but this was very upsetting as she has a strong reaction to gluten. The saddest part is the food was delicious.

As a vegan with celiac this is my absolute favorite spot to eat in Boston, The food is incredible, even my non vegan non gluten free boyfriend thinks it’s absolutely delicious! It’s also just such a relief to not need to worry about any cross contamination since they are 100% gluten free and vegan and the owner, Laura is a registered dietitian. The owner is also genuinely one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met and the service is phenomenal every time. They have some of the best smoothies I’ve ever had. The blueberry muffin smoothie tastes like they literally blended a muffin in a cup, it’s amazing. The fiesta salad is also our go to here, it’s fantastic! I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in Brookline!
The food overall is acceptable, but steer clear of a gluten-free pizza! You will get confused as to whether you’re eating the cardboard box or the pizza itself!

Gluten free plain and everything bagels! There is a dedicated toaster! Definitely get there early as they do sell out but so nice to have the option and enjoy!
Nice cafe with a bunch of gluten-free snack options that have come in handy for me. Coffee and tea drinks are all good, but not standout. Can be hard to find a place to sit as it is always pretty crowded. However, we've always been able to get a place to sit without too much of a wait when we decide to stay. I had the gluten-free chocolate tart, which was rich, chocolaty, and not too sweet. The London fog was acceptable but seemed a bit underbrewed as the earl grey didn't come through strong enough for my taste
Had egg sandwich which was extremely salty and focaccia they used was cold. They give you a number plaque if you dine in, it makes you think they would bring it to you like tatte. They don’t, so I sat down while my sandwich sat cold on the counter… so why don’t they tell you to just wait by the counter? I liked them when I first visited them… not many pastries I wanted to try. Maybe it’s catering vegans or gluten free?
Go there frequently for their gluten free desserts. Always a selection of 5 to 8 options. Their coffee is too strong for me. Go there with my wife and stay for multiple hours and do work.
The place was nice however the options for gluten free with the bread choose was terrible. It was hard and the avocado toast with the GF bread was flavorless. So disappointed :(
Cozy atmosphere, delicious food with a variety of vegan & gluten free options outside of the norm. Baked goods were on point and the staff was friendly and kind. To top it all off they have vegan candy bars 👍
