This was my first time visiting the restaurant. I was in town for a wedding and googled. Having celiac and egg allergy it not always easy to find a good place with good options, but I was amazed by the food here. I went back a couple time's before leaving. This is going to be my to go spot always when in SA. Staff were great, atmosphere is very cute and friendly and did I mention the food ....it was AMAZING, so delicious, great variety , it made me like a normal person enjoying food actual regular food and not having to worry about getting sick!!! A definite win!!!
We came here to celebrate our son's 23rd birthday as well as his upcoming graduation from The Culinary Institute of America, and it was well worth every cent!
We did the tasting menu and shared everything family style. The food is dairy and gluten free as well as plant-forward. That said, the braised shirt ribs did not disappoint. We left full and happy.
If you're dining with someone who doesn't like vegetables, bring them here to change their mind.
The food was delicious, I was able to have chicken fried steak and gravy gluten free!
The waiter was very knowledgeable about their gluten free options as well as gluten allergy/ Celiac. There is not a separate gluten free menu however almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free and they have a separate prep area/ fryer. My only issue was it was kinda expensive, very yummy though!
The cupcakes are pretty good, rarely they can be a little dense/dry but they are almost always great! I reccomend the red velvet, lemon, and soft pink extra! The quiche and almond cake are outstanding.
For a bakery they have lots of gluten free options. Not just some cupackes, but brownies, monster cookies and almond cake? Wow!
It is pricey but I'd say it is worth it. Make sure to call ahead to see what gluten free is available if you want gluten free.
Server Mary was exceptional! Very kind and informative regarding menu items. One of the individual’s in our party had a gluten allergy.
Food was great and atmosphere was good. Was hoping to sit outside but wasn’t able during this experience, but Mary made up for it!!!!
So there I was, minding my own business, headed toward a totally different restaurant when—bam!—Miss Chickpeas Cafetel on Callaghan Road in San Antonio popped up like a delightful little plot twist in my lunch plans. The name alone caught my eye, and I figured, hey, why not shake things up?
The moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, which already made this detour feel like a good decision. The vibe? Super cute, cozy, and definitely a place with regulars (always a good sign). And while I’ll be honest—I was a little skeptical about vegan food (I mean, can it really compete with the meaty classics?)—that hesitation melted the second I laid eyes on their baked goods case. Vegan and gluten-friendly treats that looked like they just stepped off a dessert runway? Yes, please.
Before I even touched a menu, I was already halfway sold. I chatted with the friendly staff, and one of them enthusiastically recommended the Breakfast Sammy. Throwing caution—and my meat-loving instincts—to the wind, I ordered it along with a German chocolate cupcake that was practically whispering sweet nothings from the dessert case.
When the food came out, it looked great. The vegan bacon threw me for a second—it definitely looked different—but once I took a bite, I was pleasantly surprised. Not your traditional bacon texture, but flavorful and satisfying in its own right. The ciabatta roll was soft with just the right amount of chew, and the whole sandwich worked really well together.
What made the experience even better? The staff came to check on me, genuinely interested in how I was enjoying my first dive into their menu. We chatted a bit, and they let me know their baked goods come from their local bakery right here in San Antonio. Major bonus points for supporting local.
All in all, Miss Chickpeas Cafetel was a refreshing, feel-good surprise. It’s a great lighter option when you want something satisfying but not heavy. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their breakfast offerings—and probably sneak in another cupcake (or two).
If you’ve ever been curious about vegan food but hesitant to try, let Miss Chickpeas be your gateway. It was mine—and I'm glad I took the chance.
This is the perfect spot for those with sensitivities to gluten/dairy! Dairy free pancakes are especially hard to find & did not disappoint😍the syrup was enough for me, but if you like to drench your pancakes I would get extra. I also got a dirty chai latte which was also pretty good. It’s a cute spot & most of all I love that they have scripture inside☺️✝️❣️Elana was so nice & food came out fast! Highly recommend!!!
Very pleasant experience. The waitress told me “we take allergies very seriously here. We don’t have a seperate GF menu because the majority can be made GF”.
This is one of my favorite restaurants because of the gluten-free options. My order was slightly made wrong so I went back to get it corrected. Not only did they redo my burger they let me keep the other one and gave us free drinks! Julie was the shift-manager, thank you Julie!
Gluten-free options! The one with yogurt for me was delicious (not too sweet). The mimosa was a little strong in order to feel the lavender flavor, but it was still good. The place is so beautiful and they have a very friendly staff.

Nicolas M was absolutely amazing! He recommended the octopus, bistro steak and more. He made sure that all our questions were answered. If we had any questions at anytime just to flag him down. He never left our table without us being confident in what we were asking/ordering. I am gluten free so finding a place that accommodates and understands can be difficult at times but this place understands. They are also veteran owned! He even brought my leftovers out after being left behind! He went above and beyond! You definitely won’t be disappointed coming here!
Worth the wait!
I did the “build your own pasta” with the gluten free pasta & parmesan cheese sauce, which was delicious - being able to mix & match their pasta options to all be GF was great. Husband got the chicken parm & absolutely loved it too. Portion sizes were very generous!
We chose 4/5 as for an Italian restaurant, we were hoping for a bread appetizer that most restaurants offer, but we didn’t have that. And we do agree with the other reviewers that it is a little slow, but it’s absolutely worth the wait. Staff were all very kind & personable!
Cafe de ollo was delicious! Great spot for brunch. Very attentive staff. Seating indoor and outdoor available. Paid parking was available in the lot next door for $10. Was able to handle dietary restrictions like vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.
The food was amazing!! We got the chicken and waffles, the Crunchwrap, and the Ghost Love combo. Y’all, we were crying it’s that good (if you’re gluten free/vegan). My partner is newly gluten free and normally eats meat and said the chicken and waffles tasted like the real thing! Shout out to Michael who chatted with us and helped with recommendations. If we lived closer, we’d be back often!!
First time customer and was super impressed!! The food was absolutely delicious! Such a treat for people who are vegan and gluten free, I'm sure non vegans would love it too. Service was great as well. Can't wait to return soon.
This is an excellent restaurant. My wife cannot have gluten, and they serve great gluten-free options. My favorite is the chicken quesadilla with corn tortillas or the 1lb grilled chicken platter for 2. Delicious, and I am looking forward to going again.
Bunztastic!
Really good service, very open space good for a large party to spread out if not busy.
Food was very tasty: juicy burgers, well made original fries. They have a gluten free bun that was impressive and a vegan option.
I’m from Houston, where there are restaurants with vegan options or gluten free options, but rarely is there a time when I can find someplace that accommodates all of my dietary restrictions. Until I took a trip to San Antonio! I was overjoyed to find a fast food vegan restaurant that also has gluten free, flavorful buns. I got a classic burger combo, which did not disappoint! My husband (who isn’t vegan/no dietary restrictions) got the earth crunch wrap and the classic jr. Let me tell you, he did not miss the meat AT ALL. We were in San Antonio for 3 days, and I ate here 2 out of 3 of them. Can’t wait to return again soon!
Food- Had the candied bacon, feta, and cranberry burger. Was so good, burger was cooked and seasoned very well and nice and juicy. Came with a side of fries that were nice and crisp. Also had ordered an app of the onion rings, highly recommend.
Price for value- Burgers were definitely on the higher side of what I pay for a burger, but the quality and topping definitely offsets paying a bit more.
Allergies- They do offer gluten free buns.
Service- It was busy so had to wait a few extra minute for items, waiter was attentive as he could be.
Atmosphere- Nice larger beer garden, and plenty of fans outside too which is nice. Fun vibe.
They have a gluten free menu you just have to ask! Most sides can be gluten free, just make sure to specify an allergy—ask for corn tortillas and no chips(shared fryer). I am extremely symptomatic and have had no issues here. Brushfire is my fave with poblano ranch!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio! The ambiance is fabulous and the food is incredibly delicious. When people are visiting, I bring them here because it feels elevated and unique. I love the boba cocktails and gluten free options. There's something for everyone! The noodles are a top favorite, but it's good to go with others so you can share and try different things. It's a perfect place for a date or celebration. Make sure to support this spot so it stays for a long time!
It's rare for me to review a place where the server first AND the food are the star! We came for Sunday brunch and we were lucky to get Jessie as our server. We had a member in our group who has a gluten allergy and we chose this place because they have gluten friendly options. Since we have an allergy, we usually have to ask questions. Not only was Jessie well versed in gf options, he still went back to the kitchen at least 4 or 5 times to ensure our order. He went over the top and it was very much appreciated. And he did it with a huge, warm smile! The food and drinks were fantastic! The ambiance and music were top notch! Highly recommend!!
The food is a-MAZ-ing!! Even had gluten-free options that were simply fantastic! We had the Shrimp & Grits and the Bay of Fundy Salmon to share so we could sample each other's food. Mom got the Vice cake and the flavors in it were awesome. Can't wait to come back!!
Wait staff ignorant about food allergies and what's on their menu--led to illness. Despite my asking specifically for a gf menu (which they don't have one for their Sunday's menu) I made sure waitress knew I was allergic to gluten and dairy. She didn't know at all what on the Sunday menu could be made gf, which surprised me, so manager had to come over to let me know. I then ordered from waitress based on manager's info and specified vegan cheese on my migas and lots of extra vegan cheese. Asked the corn tortillas be extra crispy, too. Very specific. Instead got lots of real cheese and didn't realize it til half way done eating it and after asking the manager if it was real cheese which she confirmed it was. I rarely have real cheese so I'm not used to the taste and had to make sure and ask. Also, apparently when you order crispy migas without the vegetables...they give you plain corn tortillas rolled up in aluminum foil on the side instead of cutting them up and cooking them with the eggs. I mean, seriously???? I basically had scrambled eggs w cheese and paid for cold corn tortillas on the side. Had to take benadryl, lactose pills and IB right then and now an hour later my head predictably aches and my face is still hot. Hoping I don't get the usual migraine from dairy. Great way to start a Sunday. Oh, and waitress ignored us completely from then on: no apology, no trying to make it right, no clearing table, no refilling waters-- she just waited on tables all around and ignored us entirely. We had to get up to ask for all above and even to ask for the check from manager. Before leaving I told manager she's the worst waitress I've ever had (shes got dark brown hair with purple colored ends), is dangerous to customers, and since I used to wait tables in college I know what it takes. The manager apologized and tried to make it right by removing my meal from the order and offering a gf cupcake to go (which is only reason for the high 2 stars rating), but she confirmed the waitress is NOT new. In summary, Sunday menu needs to be updated with gf info and staff needs some serious retraining on what their menu is made up of, what good customer service looks like, and the seriousness of food allergies and sensitivities. Place is dangerous until they do.
As someone with gluten and dairy allergies, eating at the airport is something I thought I could never do. La Gloria changed that perspective for me! The waitress was super accommodating about my allergies and was super knowledgeable. Most of the menu is gluten free friendly, which is awesome! Not to mention, the food and margaritas were delicious!! Next time I’m in this airport, I’m going back!
Fantastico! It was beautiful and the food was excellent. My daughter and I are both gluten free and we had no problems. The queso was exceptional and we shared the smokehouse platter with leftovers! Also had the flan which was excellent. We will be back!!!
Felt confident with my gluten free request! The photographer was 10/10, so patient with our big group and created a great memory for us to look back on!
They had me at the title. But the selections of different mimosas are amazing! I had a flight of four different types and they were so good! The caramel apple was especially delicious. My sister is gluten-free and they had a lot of gf choices—it was the first time in years she had had French toast and she was in Heaven. I just got a kid’s breakfast with surprisingly excellent scrambled eggs, perfectly cooked bacon, sausage and sourdough toast—fantastic! The gorgeous colors of the interior of the restaurant and the overall design were fun and modern. I love this place! 💕
Freshest macaroons and they’re gluten free! These macaroons were absolutely delicious and the bakery is extremely clean and the staff is very friendly and polite, they were able to recommend some great flavours!!
We visited here on a Friday night and were not impressed. Firstly, the food/service took forever. When the food did come, it was rather mid. The mashed potatoes came out cold (so we sent them back). The gluten free chicken tenders were good, but the French fries were very strange. The shrimp po-boy was average, but becomes below average when you remember the high price. The one saving grace is that the grits are fantastic. We weren't the other ones with issues with the service either. They seemed to not bring the guest behind us' food until their entire group had already finished eating. We personally will not be back as for the service and price it just was not worth it.
Shout out to our server April! She was super attentive, got us refills before I could ask, and made sure my Gluten Free bestie got accommodated safely!
Its amazing to have places offering gluten free options. I had a gf egg sandwhich in a restaurant for the first time in years. It was delicious. BIG portions, the million dollar bacon was also delicious.
Absolutely incredible food that is impossible to tell it's vegan. Flavor, variety, and no animal products! Lots of gluten free options too. Owner is a cool ass dude who has great stories and wisdom. Can't wait to go back!
Excellent Late Night Service!
Came by after karaoke and our hostess was also our server: Service was attentive and personable.
The smoothies were delicious! Denny's doesn't have Gluten-Free pancakes; but the Gluten-Free English Muffin was fun to eat.
Thank you!
This meal was incredible, as was the service. The food was delicious and the staff were so kind and thoughtful- attending to our every need. Fazia was amazing and they had a ton of gluten free options too!
Diner Music, Super Fun Menu, Excellent Service
Max and Louie’s is almost always packed; but the staff is always in a groove (maybe it’s the 50s/60s soundtrack?); the service is cheerful and efficient.
The French Toast Grilled Cheese can be made Gluten-Free, so go ahead and order; the omelettes are fantastic; but don’t forget to get a homemade hot chocolate (with real Marshmallow and Cinnamon!)
Highly recommend
We had our mini-wedding reception here, and it was phenomenal! The food, service, room space, and overall ambiance was simply perfect. The staff at Cured were incredibly hospitable and easy to work with, especially when it came to menu selection and accommodations for vegetarian and gluten free. Everyone loved it all!
