Had a scrumptious breakfast here. Great service, food well cooked and full of flavour. Lovely ambient Cafe and my coeliac gluten free needs were carefully catered for.
Corn bread is a must!!!
Really enjoyed my experience here !
This building had been a kiosk from 1925- 1990 , ( there was a brick outside that I read on the wall ) so it had an old feel overlaid by a modern makeover . Community has both indoor and outside seating- the inside was light and airy but this time my friend and I opted to sit in the open air .
Coffee was Five senses with the Dark horse blend , which was quite pleasant, but our lovely sever Nick told us about their filter brew from Kenya and offered us some of that to try as well . I’m fast becoming a convert of filtered coffee as all the slight bitterness of the beans disappear- it’s very interesting to experience the difference. There was so much flavour in this brew and it was also slightly fruity, but not overwhelming so . They obviously know about coffee here ! Thank you Nick for your advice and recommendations!
I had a basic poached eggs, with bacon and tomato on gluten free toast . The toast was round - quite unusual but it was quite nice ( much improvement on most gluten free offerings ) I also liked the addition of the salt and pepper grinders on the table - it refreshing to able to season to your own taste ! It was a simple breakfast, but everything was cooked well and was most enjoyable. The pastries looked good as well if you just want a light repast .
A relaxing place to sit and watch the city traffic go by …. Definitely worth coming if you’re in the city .
This is one of our favourites for a Friday night dinner. There is always music at the markets playing, the food is authentic, good quality, relatively inexpensive. Don't expect anything fancy, just good food and vibes. Steak and schnitzel can take a while if it's busy, but pasta is normally quick. Gluten free options too. Favourites are the chicken salad sandwich, chicken schnitzel, spaghetti bolognaise with ricotta and basil and if your lucky enough and quick enough on a Saturday the italian rice cake.
