Excellent gluten free options. Truly my go to for fried seafood. My only complain is their chocolate cake used to be a large piece with amazing frosting. It’s definitely gone down 2/3 of the size and the taste isn’t the same as it used to be. Somebody added chunks of salt on it! It was really bad and same with the frosting was bland!

Overall, it was a fantastic evening! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our gluten-free guest. The atmosphere was lively and added to the enjoyment. While the dipping sauces were not traditional, they were still delicious. The chef's performance was outstanding.
Dont eat here if you’re celiac The server was really nice and set us quickly but I told her we had a 45 minutes to eat and said that they could accommodate but I have a gluten allergy and I asked for gluten-free menu and they brought me a hamburger with a Gluten bun I took a bite and realized that it was a Gluten bun. I already ate it, so it was too late, but I hate the burger not the bun because cross-contamination is an a problem for me. Yes, the waitress and she said oh no, I forgot or something to that extent then the manager came over and asked me why i ateb my food it’s not it’s not my responsibility to explain my allergy you served me Some thing I was allergic to cross-contamination isn’t a problem for me because I’m not celiac, but the second I said I wasn’t celiac he didn’t seem to care I asked for to go bags for the food they watch me struggle with my toddler and everything spilled out of the bag and they didn’t take the burger off my bill which I think it’s just really poor service because I eat the burger and not the bun, but I took a bite of the bun which made me sick .
We love it here! My son and I both have dairy intolerance and love that they offer vegan cheese. They also have a gluten free crust, which is a plus as well. We have always been happy with our food from here, whether take out of dining in.
I absolutely love coming here. I use to come here all of the time with my mom and sisters. They always have good food and service is always great! I just treated someone to a birthday breakfast and it was perfect! It’s never to loud and even when it’s full staff always makes it convenient. They have turkey substitutes which is wonderful for those that don’t eat pork and vegetarian options. When I was gluten free I came here often because they have many dishes without bread/gluten.
The three of us each had wonderful meals and fantastic martinis last night at The Mill on the River. Our server, Monica, was extremely helpful in managing our dietary needs, including gluten free options. She also was attentive during the meal, checking in to see if we needed anything else. Whether it was the salmon or the cod, our fish dinners were excellent. I also had the beet salad, which I'd definitely order again. And we shared the flourless chocolate cake for dessert, and it was to die for! We will definitely be returning!
I have allergies to gluten and dairy. On multiple occasions the manager, Linda, has helped me figure out what was safe for me to eat. She even went out of her way to make a special ice cream cake for me. The atmosphere in the store is always fun and welcoming.
Today I had the honor of sharing lunch with The Slice Mob—a group of lifelong friends who travel Connecticut in search of the best pizza the state has to offer. Today’s feast took place at Oakland Pizza Co. in South Windsor, a cozy, no-frills spot that gives off classic pizza joint vibes. It’s the kind of place that welcomes everyone—from loyal regulars to crust-obsessed aficionados and everyone in between.
The staff was pleasant and professional, and believe me—dealing with seven hungry guys ordering nine pizzas and apps is enough to test the patience of even the most saintly among us. Respect.
For those who follow me, you know I always start with the basics—a true test of any great pizzeria. No gimmicks, no distractions. Just dough, sauce, and cheese. So I kicked it off with the plain Detroit-style. This pie did not disappoint.
Let’s talk crust: thick, but light, airy, and tender, yet sturdy enough to hold that glorious sauce and cheese. A true feat of gluten genius. It was incredibly soft to chew, with a balanced, clean flavor. The sauce? Pure and simple. Not over-seasoned. Just the right touch of salt to let the tomatoes shine—a perfect sweet-acidic balance. The cheese? A generous layer of shredded mozzarella that melted into a gooey dream, stretching for inches.
But the best part? The frico. (Not an Italian swear word—I promise.) That glorious crispy, caramelized cheese that forms around the edge when mozzarella hits the hot pan. It’s crunchy, cheesy gold. This was easily one of the best Detroit-style pizzas I’ve ever eaten.
Next up: I went spicy (ya baby!) with the Spicy Roni, made on a thin crust that lives somewhere between New Haven and Neapolitan styles. I’m starting to think this hybrid deserves its own name—maybe “East of the River” style—since I keep finding it at pizzerias east of the Connecticut River.
The crust was thin with a beautifully crisp undercarriage, thick enough to support generous toppings, yet thin enough to give that perfect crunch. The cornicione (fancy word for crust) was airy with a tender chew, and again, perfectly seasoned.
This pie was topped with fresh mozzarella over a killer tomato sauce, then loaded with crisped-up, cupped pepperoni, sliced onions, and hot peppers. The contrast was incredible—light and airy crust, crunchy spicy ‘roni, the sweetness of the onions, the kick from the peppers, and that warm, gooey mozzarella pulling it all together.
Two totally different styles. Two perfectly executed experiences. The doughs are fermented differently. The toppings are applied differently. The baking methods? Night and day. But the one thing they share in common? They were both outstanding.
It takes real skill to master one style of pizza. Oakland has mastered two. I tip my toque to the team.

The food is amazing. Even with my gluten allergy they had a good gf burger bun. But the service was horrible. My husband who is black was ignored throughout the meal like he wasn’t there. Is was unexceptionable. Tip-$0 respectfully. Smh.

This was our first time trying Alexia's. We ordered a plain, cheese pizza, and it was excellent. The sauce was tasty, full of flavor, without being too sweet or too acidic. The crust was wonderfully crisp, without being charred. I'm not an expert by any means, but I would describe the pizza as "Detroit style." The staff were very friendly. Gluten-free is available as well.
I love the warm bowls of Panera bread! In particular, the Baja bowl! ( : it is delicious and I can eat it even with celiacs. They change gloves before making my bowl, and so far have been very careful about not cross contaminating my food! ( :
