I'm really appreciative of the gluten free options as someone who has a pretty severe gluten allergy, but the chicken tenders were pretty tough. Cook them a little less and they would be amazing.
I ordered the glutenfree pizza, it was delicious wouldn't know it was a glutenfree base, my husband had a normal pizza he said it delicious too, freindly staff and a nice atmosphere, very busy so would recommend booking
Visited during lunch and wanted the pizza since it’s gluten free but felt it was too pricey. Decided to try a salad. The champagne vinaigrette dressing was a huge hit. I wish they sold it. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. I would return.
I recently visited the Green Valley Grill for a family celebration. It could not have been more delightful. Five of us were had main courses and desserts, plus a couple of drinks and tips for around $200.
Personally, I had the Turkish Chili Braised Short Rib, which was phenomenal. Other members of my party had the parmesan chicken, the rotisserie chicken, the chef's choice duck, and the pork schnitzle, which was a huge portion. The desserts were also great
One thing to note, a member of our party had a severe gluten allergy. She was able to find items that she could eat, and very much enjoyed the cauliflower flatbread. The server was knowledgeable about the gluten allergy and thoughtful in his advice.
I would definitely return the next time in the area.

Five people's thoughts are included in this evaluation! We made the right decision when we dropped by to lunch on the way from Washington, DC, to Atlanta! Oh my goodness, the burgers that we all ordered looked fantastic. Because I have a gluten sensitivity, I went with the gluten-free bun, and it was the softest gluten-free burger bun I've ever had. Despite the crowds (which we can understand because it's so delicious), the service was prompt, and the staff was really kind and welcoming. We really enjoyed this place!
NO LONGER ALLERGEN FRIENDLY
When I started eating here in 2019 I was *thrilled* to find a celiac+allergen friendly place serving gut-healthy, in-house made stocks and gluten free grain based bowls. Alas, a corporate entity saw their success, and ever since this place was bought out, it's been on a steady decline in food safety and quality. My breaking point is the removal of the GF Mac n Cheese, and continued addition of gluten-containing options to the menu. There is *very little* care given to cross contamination and no one knows what celiac disease is and they're just kinda tired of hearing the complaints about the GF Mac n cheese at this point.
Greensboro is a wasteland for celiacs, ya'll, and I'm just going to stick with Ilobesca.
I am so excited they had gluten-free bread so you can do any sandwich and gluten-free. The salad bar was really good. Overall experience is awesome. Definitely recommend if you have a dietary problem or issue.
This spot was a cute spot to try. It was definitely busy when we went but as much as I wanted to love the place, at the end of the day it was just ok. I had the Rosemary Ham skillet, cheese grits and Gluten free French toast.
I will say the French toast was delicious. I would definitely recommend that. It’s not often gluten free French toast is an option and the bread they chose was very good.
The cheese grits were on the salty side and the skillet was good but I guess I was expecting more flavor and it just fell a little flat.
The service was excellent and it was a cute spot.
Since opening up shop in Winston-Salem forty years ago, Village Tavern has expanded to include eight locations. Perhaps because of its longevity, the impression I got of it was of a dated brunch/lunch spot patronized by well-to-do seniors, and so it never claimed a high spot on my to-try list. After paying the Greensboro location a visit, however, that perception has somewhat changed.
Village Tavern occupies a large building with plenty of seating, and though they keep busy, they seem set up to accommodate the volume. My wife and I showed up for lunch on a Monday and had no wait for a table in the bar area, which was nicely appointed. Think classy without feeling stuffy.
Just as the restaurant is sizeable, so too goes the menu. Apps, soups, sandwiches, salads, entrees, tacos, burgers, and pizzas are all offered here. There are gluten-free and vegetarian options, and you’d be hard-pressed to find something not to your liking. We ended up going with fish and chips and shrimp and grits. The food arrived quickly, and our server was polite and responsive throughout the meal.
Shrimp and grits is one of my go-to dishes, and no two places do it the same way. Village Tavern’s version uses white grits and bacon rather than tasso ham. Purists may quibble, but I found it excellent. The grits were creamy without being too heavily cheesy, the bacon added a hint of smokiness, they didn’t skimp on the shrimp, and the mushrooms were a nice touch. The fish and chips boasted crisp and generously battered cod. It wasn’t on par with what you’d find in a seafood bar, but it did not disappoint. The sauteed spinach – substituted in for coleslaw – was tasty as well though the fries were only so-so.
While I was wrong about Village Tavern’s décor (more appealing than I thought) and clientele (more diverse), I was right about its price point. Both entrees ran north of twenty. While the fish and chips offered a good amount of food for the money, the shrimp and grits felt like a dinner price for a lunch portion.
All told, Village Tavern is a solid jack-of-all-trades restaurant. It offers a little bit of everything and seems to execute well enough. It’s more likely to leave you satisfied than impressed, but the service and atmosphere make it worth your while.
Mostly good experience!
Made a 7:45pm reservation and was sat immediately in a booth. The AC was super cold, and we were greeted by 2 waitstaff within moments.
The restaurant was very accommodating and knowledgeable about gluten containing dishes and was able to provide almost every dish with substitutions.
We ordered the following: a sazerac, glass of Pinot Grigio,a Summer of 89 cocktail, crab dip starter, roast chicken entree, and catfish entree. Things were delicious and service came at a good frequency.
A few cons from the night:
My glass of water came with a few black specks, but I just picked them out. Both cocktails were below quality (one very watery and one ultra sweet). The catfish entree came with grits and there was a 2 inch long hair in the middle of it. I decided to pick it out and ignore it.
I probably won’t come back here, but would try another one of their restaurants.
Got the Tex Rexy pork and rice bowl, with a side of beans and it's all gluten-free!! Outside seating is preferred.
Cool place, funky vibe and colorful wall artwork by local artists.
Kelly was the best server we've ever had. So personable and fun! Also- the gluten free pancakes have brought so much joy to my life and have filled a major void. Can't recommend enough!

The chill atmosphere was perfect, and the service was top-notch. What made this place truly special was their commitment to gluten-free options. Knowing the owners' spouse has a gluten allergy made the gluten-free buns for the sandwiches feel extra thoughtful. A real gem!"
This place is nice and welcoming- the employees are very friendly. I ordered cheese pizza for my kids- they will make it the way you want. I asked them to make my pizza separate so it doesn’t come in contact with any meat- they did a great job.
Highly recommended and i will definitely be trying a different pizza next time.
They also have gluten free dough.
They just need little more cleaning inside and out.
I ordered the NY Strip (rare because I anticipated it would be overcooked) and my friend ordered the penne pasta. Her serving was enough for 2 large meals. My steak was served warm pink center so it was medium, not medium rare (my hope) or rare (as ordered). I think the issue is that too many people don't know what the correct temperature is for the various levels of doneness and too many times the orders got sent back to the kitchen for additional cooking, so the cooks are conditioned to overcook the food rather than deal with plates returned. It's a common problem within this price range.
My steak quality and texture was really good, tender for a strip steak, and there was no meat glue used, just a single cut as it should be. They did a fabulous job of accommodating gluten-free needs.
Our server was kind, attentive enough, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was really nice. You can hear one another in conversation without having to raise your voice or leave hoarse from trying to talk over the din like a lot of places nowadays.
I'd give them 4.5 stars but not 5, but Google only uses split stars for averages not for ratings.
We were pleasantly surprised at the excellent service and quality of food last night. The women taking our order was so friendly and efficient in making sure the order was correct. Our gluten free lettuce wraps were the best ever with a good amount of lettuce holding the hamburger in. And our fries were plentiful and cooked to perfection. We were so grateful we called after to appreciate as it was a take out.
Love the Tacu bowl. Family meal is a good value. Service is great. As a person who is gluten free I do wish they offered a gluten free plantains option.
Went for a birthday celebration. Server was Sam and he was excellent. My wife needs to eat gluten-free and Sam was extremely knowledgeable and attentive to this issue. Even brought a special fruit and cheese tray in lieu of table breach for her. She had the filet with crab stuffing and a baked potato on the side. I started with the Burrata followed by the filt with grilled asparagus. Everything was cooked perfectly and we left quite satisfied but not before a surprise box of chocolates for my birthday
Found this place through a quick search and I’m very happy I made my way over for a quick lunch. I had the chicken salad sandwich on gluten free bread and the gluten free couscous. I had originally ordered fries but changed my mind. I took a quick scan for my server but didn’t see him so I figured fries it would be. Unknowingly, another server saw my quick glance around and approached and ask if she could assist. Excellent service and excellent food! Highly recommend
One of my favorite places in Greensboro. Organic, fair trade teas and related products. They carry a lot of local skincare, candles, and other goods too. They’re conscientious about marking potential allergens, and they have lots of options for vegan and gluten-free patrons. Very calm and pretty atmosphere. Woman-owned and operated!
I will warn you, it is a bit loud in here, as every time we go it is Packed. I mean it! And the popularity is very much deserved. The food we got was delicious, the service was excellent, and we definitely like that they offer an entire allergen free menu, since my mom has celiac.
Haven’t eaten here since a random lunch in summer 2022…it was decent, but I wasn’t wowed enough to go back. Had dinner there tonight and everything was outstanding, including the mock-tails! Many gluten free options clearly listed on the menu, and the service was wonderful.
Food was absolutely amazing! The service was quick and all the servers were so friendly. The owner was so nice. They have lots of gluten free and vegetarian options and adaptations. This is my new favorite restaurant!
As one with celiac disease I really appreciate having a gluten free option available. Also, the staff were careful to change gloves and use a fresh spoon for my order!
I am passing through town on a road trip and have heard lovely things about this restaurant. I decided to give it try last night and it did not disappoint. Our server, who I am embarassed to say I cannot name, even after asking her name again. I blame the drink Cat Lady Clapback, by the way that drink is a bold delight.
First off, the restaurant is in a delightful area. The restaurant itself is cute and has a neat outdoor space, however we did sit inside. I have a gluten intolerance and a dairy allergy so dining out is always interesting. Our server worked hard to make sure what I was eating was completely safe me and even verified with multiple people. Her attention and reassurance was so thoughtful. Obviously, on top of being a stellar server, she is truly a kind human. She helped make the evening a memorable and lovely night.
The food is great, atmosphere fun, and the service is as stated above, amazing.
Thank you Fishbones!
For prospective patrons: Try it, I believe you'll be happy.

What can i say, Big Burger Spot Lied to us. DONT EAT HERE. The food isnt handled right, produce isnt washed properly( flies on lettuce ) kitchen isn't cleaned properly, the floors aren't cleaned properly. What i mean is if you don't eat pork, pescatarian, vegetarian, have a gluten intolerance, or a no beef diet ( or any dietary restrictions ) then you can't eat here because every utensil is used for every burger and as a customer ive seen it. Its out for us to see. Every cover to melt cheese on a beef burger, will be used on an impossible or turkey. The same press used on your chicken is the same used on your tuna. Keep in mind all raw. The same flat top used to toast your buns, is coated/seasoned with bacon grease. The impossibles and black bean burgers are cooked on it and eggs and more bacon if its an cowboy/cowgirl blt. Ice machine has mold in it, bugs flying around, bread isnt tied so it gets hard spots and subject to insects etc. All this out for us customers to see. Theres more and more red flags and it gets worse. If you want to see the FULL REVIEW check out the link. I have more pics for proof; trust me you will be shocked. We had an amazing dinner and service! The fried cauliflower was wonderful! I am gluten free and they were able to customize everything for me. The gluten free chocolate cheesecake was a treat! Our server, Naia was so personable and made a special tea latte for me! One of the best dinner spots in Greensboro!
I have to have gluten-free noodles so ordered the spaghetti Bolognese but when my husband brought it home, I had bravo pasta, which was not gluten-free. So we called and Chris said that he would remake my order. It tasted delicious. It was very nice that they remade the correct order since it’s not healthy for me to eat regular pasta. All in all it was a good experience.
It’s not often that we find a place with food this good that also can cater to our families gluten and dairy free requirements. I had the (regular) avocado toast and it was outstanding. the GF/DF at the table had the skillet with vegan cheese and GF toast and it was very good. my little one had a grilled cheese with GF toast and vegan cheese. He normally doesn’t eat well when we are out, but he cleaned his plate!
this was our first time here and we *will* be back. Justin did a great job!
