I’m gluten free and they really took care of me and my food! I got the spicy sausage rigatoni with gf pasta and it was absolutely delicious. My husband got the ribeye and that was amazing too. Will definitely be back!
Prince Street Cafe has been a favorite spot of my sister for as long as she has been a York transplant from Maryland. Her veganism and gluten sensitivity make places like this special - the food is as delicious as it is safe for her, AND they have dishes the rest of our family enjoys with the rest of our various dietary needs.
Only outshining their food is their service. I made a significant mistake when ordering online the day before the aforementioned sister's birthday party, and the staff and manager went way out of their way to make things right. They absolutely did not need to raise to the level of hospitality that they did -- their generosity saved the day!
Safe and Sweet catered sugar and gluten free desserts at our wedding (macarons were absolutely DIVINE!), we appreciate that they accommodated dietary restrictions. Their regular desserts were flying off our tables!! In short, we couldn't have had a better dessert caterer
Love this place. GREAT gluten free options, they can make all their sandwiches on their gluten free bagels. I usually get the Southwest sandwich on the gluten free bagel. Excellent service. It is oftentimes quite crowded because people love it (as they should) which makes it a popular spot, and multiple times I’ve gone with friends and had trouble finding a spot to sit at. But especially as it warms up that will free up the outside seating. All in all, I highly recommend this spot. York needs more places like it.
So, let’s start with the owners. Absolutely AWESOME PEOPLE. Great fun to chat with. Very keen on the craft of baking. Their passion is to create what people want so you’ll see a lot of superb niche items. Sugarless, keto, and gluten-free are not stumbling blocks like at other fine bakeries. They are just different ingredients for what their customers crave. THEY ARE ON IT!!! And oh, did I say everything I bought was OVER THE TOP DELICIOUS. Check them out. NOW!!!
It was my first time visiting this place and the lady that took my order was very friendly and easy to talk to. She was very kind explaining their options as I'm in a gluten diet. The atmosphere is pleasant. This is my to go place for breakfast in the city.
First, the display case is pure eye candy, with patisserie delights. My family loves going there, and it's a great place to have a truly quality breakfast or a great cappuccino. The pastry chef owner is friendly and very talented. Not much gluten-free variety, but the new barista is so welcoming I want to go there more often. Perfect meeting spot.
Gather 256 is so much more than a cafe. It is a community hub, a meeting place, a third space for all of York. In addition to wonderful food (with plenty of gluten-free and vegan options), they make the best latte in town, hands down.
There is a second floor that boasts a corner kids' play space, large tables for meetings and other little cozy nooks to work. During the warmer weather, there's an outdoor terrace with a sandpit for the kids.
What's more is that the space is always full of inspiring artwork. If you need a gift, it's a great place to stop -- earrings, pottery, wall art, books. There is even a pay-it-forward wall to donate meals and a little plant propagating area to share plants. How cute is that? They host third Fridays with programming, book clubs and more.
Gather 256 reminds me of the coffee houses of my teenage years -- homey, comfortable, welcoming, a place to work when you need to be alone, a space to connect when you need a friend. We are so lucky to have it here in York!
It is definitely the best coffee shop in town.
Top notch customer service - very friendly and accommodating staff. I can’t have dairy or gluten and the employees here went out of their way to make sure I had a very nice lunch. Will definitely be back!! Thank you to everyone at Hardee’s of North York! To whom it may concern: I hope you’re taking good care of your workers because they took excellent care of me and we all know that people like that are hard to find! Five stars and two thumbs up!!

Came in for lunch on a hot Saturday. The service was excellent; our server had great suggestions on drinks and lunch options. We appreciated the details added on the Gluten-Free menu, and how many options there were. We decided on the Rum Punch (best I've ever had) and Watermelon Mojito, plus an omelet for my husband and the Mediterranean Frittata for me. The flavors were great, and portion sizes were very generous, especially given the reasonable prices. The only drawbacks were that the potatoes served with the omelet were a little overcooked, and we thought it was an interesting choice to use sliced link sausage as a filling in the omelet (we were expecting ground). Not bad, just unexpected. But it was a very satisfying experience and we look forward to a return trip when in town.
This place is incredible ! It's in the central market in york. It's a completely vegan restaurant and they also have gluten free items. (The gluten free cake is delicious)
I ordered the loaded baked potato empanadas, a prickly pear lemonade and gluten free chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting . And all I can say is WOW!!!
I know now to get more than 1 order of the empanadas ! Fantastic customer service , a little bit of a wait but it was because they were so busy. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED checking this place out!
As a gluten free diner there are not that many meals marked GF. I ordered the pork and sauerkraut which had mashed potatoes with a side of pickled beets. The diner made sauerkraut and beets were delicious. Maybe offering a choice of potato or greens with burger and sandwich offerings would give GF diners more choices with ingredients you already have.
I love this iHop. I have celiac disease and always order the gluten friendly pancakes with chocolate chips. They’re sooo good. My husband and siblings love it too. They get the breakfast sandwiches and love them.
If you want a VERY country dining experience, this is your place! It is almost always buzzing with people and families (so if you are anxious is crowds, please be aware). There are not many options for different dietary needs (i.e. gluten-free, low sugar/carb, vegetarian). However, it should be noted that staff are very willing to talk and make suggestions!
The waitress we had only visited the table 4 times, and it was hard to track her down for refills; this is not typical and may have been due to the busy time of day. Over all the experience was a good one!
