I’m so disappointed to write this, but as a artisanal pizza/flatbread chaser - this flatbread truly disappointed me. Especially for the price. The fig & bison barely had any cheese on it, with two small slices missing the toppings. $60 with the gluten free cost added, did not feed two of us. We’re small people, with not very big appetites, but when you take away an inch of the crust from being almost burnt, the “medium” flatbread is now a small. Mediocre taste at best, but maybe if there were more toppings on it… upsetting for a first impression.
Gluten free pasta is only available for spaghetti and fettuccine, but it was delicious!!! Great food and service, first time here and won’t be the last!
I'm extremely pleased by the staff here.
I had a food allergy I made my server aware of at the start. When they brought my meal, I had about .2 seconds to stare at it before another server swooped in and stole it back stating "Sorry this one isn't gluten free", and the manager appeared from the other side with the correct order. The whole switch out happened in less than 10 seconds.
On top of that, there was no discernable difference to the appearance of the meals, to my eye anyways, so I'm even more impressed by how quick they noticed the wrong one had been presented first.
Finally- it was Valentine's, and they were absolutely brutally packed and still managed to do all this with a smile.
The food was great but it could have been awful at that point (as so many gluten free substitutions are anyways) and I still would have been amazed.
Food was good. We had four different kinds of pizza including a gluten free one. Our server was knowledgeable about gluten free ingredients which was appreciated, unfortunately they lacked a sense of urgency and we waited a lot. Disappointing because we really enjoyed the food and the patio.
Came for supper, love that they offer gluten free options as we have a Celiac family member. Super busy, prime time to eat and was Family Day. Our waitress was super busy but still had a smile on her face and was very pleasant. Food was really good. Only drawback is the tight quarters, tables and people are packed in every tightly.
This place has such a great atmosphere inside and it feels really enjoyable to spend a night or some time during midday. Food is okay, we ordered two sets of pasta and it was great, also got chicken strips that were not worth buying in my opinion. From crucial benefits of this place I can refer separate gluten free menu that we got from waiter by our request. During busy hours place gets packed and you might need to wait for some time but I believe that it is worth it for sure.
The food was amazing. 2 of us shared the family style 3 course meal and every piece was phenomenal. My partner got the salt cod and it was also amazing.
They also accommodated my celiac amazingly and did it all gluten free.
Service was notably good and the restaurant is so cute. Our server asked if we wanted refills when we had one sip left of our drink, was very friendly and professional.
Also, first restaurant in my experience to read the OpenTable comments area, and asked about the holiday I noted and my celiac.
Our server was excellent, very attentive and kind also funny and engaging. Everyone went above and beyond to get us a perfect seat for our night out. My wife is celiac and it is very hard to find a place that she can safely eat at and has excellent food and Service. This place is hard to beat in Canmore. I'd recommend it to anyone, especially with allergies.
It is a cute little spot more upscale than many other Italian restaurants in Edmonton, jeans and a nice shirt are perfect but dressing up wouldn't feel out of place.
Service was terrific, friendly and attentive while not feeling faked.
Food was quite good, rich in flavor and textures. Steak and mushroom risotto may have been a bit on the heavy side with nothing to offset it. Pescatore (gluten free) was very good, good balance of flavor with the citrus cream sauce and the penne was properly aldente. ☺️
We made a reservation in advance, requested a wheelchair table and identified I was celiac, the table was prepared with the restricted diet menu and open spot for my husband's chair.
Some comments have whined about a lack of table cloths and the utensils being in paper napkins, personally I prefer that for the cleanliness it affords. No one is touching the utensils when setting the table, and no gross cloths with remnants of 🤢sloppy/sniveling past guests.
When coming with a wheelchair, note that the door is not automatic and you'll need to navigate a smaller exterior landing at the entrance to get around the outswing of the double door. Inside is a well sized foyer with room to turn around as long as it's not stuffed with people. IFYKYK 😉. A bonus is that it is the main entrance, not a service door and accessible parking is right out front if a bit tight. If you need assistance with the doors, I'm certain the people there will be happy to help with a smile. A really wonderful caring vibe was felt when we were there.
Solid experience and will definitely recommend and return!
I always order their sandwiched on gluten free over skip. Nice, fresh ingredients and the italian sausage is so damn good. I recommend trying an italian sausage panini, red pepper, arugula and mayo. One of my favourites with the fries and soda. 10/10 for gluten free.
Went there on a first date last year and again as we were both getting hangry. The difference in the 2 visits is I've become gluten sensitive so we weren't sure how or what I could eat. But all thr pizzas and Flatbread had a gf option which was great. We got the smoked Mozzarella wrapped and Prosciutto which was great! Then this spicy Italian sausage pizza on the gf crust and it was delicious. With limited places and choices I will be going back!

Went out with a group of friends and had a ball. The food was fantastic and the server was top notch. So delighted my gluten free friend could have a proper meal with dessert
We had both breakfast and dinner here, and it was delicious! My husband loved the bread bar, and I am celiac, they were able to offer me lots of gluten free choices. We'll be back!
We come to Famoso in red deer every time we come through. Food is excellent. Staff is friendly. So good. I have celiac and eat at Famoso as one of my top choices because I have never gotten glutened there.
This was a great experience. The ambiance and the chandeliers in restaurant and lobby are amazing. The food was good -tea was great. There are gluten free options. But what really made the experience was the staff. Our knowledgeable waiter made some great suggestions for local activities.
Great store, as usual. I hadn't been there in years and since I can't have gluten now (boo!) I didn't know what I'd find for me. I found biscotti, pasta and gnocchi and a couple of other things. Score!
May 25. We enjoyed very nice cocktails here during happy hour 2 to 5. We also had lunch. Pizza was also included in the happy hour. They catered for gluten free as they had a separate fryer and also adapted the burger by serving it in lettuce instead of a bun.
As a family with celiac disease, finding a safe and truly delicious dining experience can be a challenge—but Lupo exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we walked in, the staff was knowledgeable, kind, and completely accommodating to our gluten-free needs. This was one of the best meals I have ever experienced!
We enjoyed the chicken parmigiana, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside—completely gluten-free and absolutely amazing. The pesto pasta was fresh and flavorful, with a sauce that tasted homemade and rich without being heavy. And the chocolate cake? Decadent, moist, and hands-down one of the best gluten-free desserts we’ve ever had.
Lupo is a must-visit for anyone looking for safe, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared gluten-free food. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit!
Food was great, service was fast and the waitress was so friendly and gave us few advices on what we should do. Their pizza is soon good and they have gluten free options
I’ve been coming to YYC Pasta Bar since it first opened, & it remains one of my go to spots! I visit at least once a month & it never disappoints. Whether dining in or getting takeout, the portions are generous, the meals & appetizers are always fresh & full of flavor, and the service is consistently friendly & welcoming. They also have great gluten-free and vegetarian options, which makes it easy for everyone to find something they love. Whether you’re craving a classic pasta dish or something new, they always deliver delicious, high-quality food. This is a must visit spot for pasta lovers in YYC! 🥰🍝🇮🇹
Forno is a beautiful place to eat in Red Deer. The food is great and the service is friendly and knowledgeable. My dad is not very mobile and tries to eat gluten free. The server we had was very good at dealing with him and helping with suggestions for food etc
Poor gluten free options, some food is good, most was average, Bruschetta for instance was lacking in garlic, balsamic, and tomatoes. Meat portions in pasta could also be increased, was quite small. Long wait time for food, and when asked about this, we were provided a nonsensical explanation by staff, and then were further ignored until the bill was served. Server wasn't knowledgeable on menu items, and took reminding on our appetizer order. They also squeeze a lot of tables in, so it is very tight, loud, and cramped. If that is your thing, you'd love this restaurant as it does try to go for a more homey feel, but not a quiet homey.
I enjoy coming here because the flavours are delicious and the service is typically great! However I need to management to increase their knowledge around gluten free. If a company is going to offer gluten free then please operate with the expectation that it has to do with an allergy, not a dietary preference. Thankfully I’m an asymptomatic celiac but cross contamination still has long term negative effects on my body. But I will never recommend this restaurant to a symptomatic celiac. My food was not kept separate from the gluten food, my container was even put into the same bag as the bread and there was bread crumbs all over my container. And as you’ll see there is my family members pasta sauce all over the top of my pasta container. This is not sauce from my food as I got the pasta with curry.
Management please do better. I just returned from a trip from Italy and maybe my expectations maybe too high but a country that is 90% Italian restaurants offering pizza and pasta did a better job of keeping me safe from gluten than you guys.

Ordered the Fettuccine with Truffle Cream Sauce—loved the flavors, and they were great about accommodating my customization request! I was especially impressed with our server, Oksana—she was so thoughtful and sweet, even bringing me gluten-free bread without me asking. Thank you!
This place is absolutely amazing! The people working here are all fantastic, the food is amazing and for anyone looking for a great safe Gluten Free option this restaurant is the place to go! It offers fantastic pastas and other amazing meals that are safe to eat. They are very careful with cross contamination and are very accommodating.
Dined here on the weekend, I have mixed feelings about our experience. First, I want to say our servers were very polite and attentive, did everything right, so no issues there. The atmosphere was also really great; we are locals to the area and this was our first time visiting Banff Springs.
Before booking our reservation, I communicated with staff to ensure I would be able to order from the Castello menu, as I cannot have gluten, dairy, or raw tomato. Staff assured me that they took note of my dietary restrictions and that they would be able to accommodate me - awesome, we were really looking forward to our meal.
Fast forward, I was choosing my dish, and asked if the risotto could be made dairy free - the kind waitress checked with the kitchen and confirmed that yes, no dairy would be added, but that pistachio oil could be used as a substitute to not lose the creaminess of the dish; so that's what I went with as my safe option.
I received the plate and confirmed with the server "it's gluten and dairy free right?" to which he replied "yes, all of the above" (I've learned to always double check, because mistakes happen). Anyway, let me tell you, this risotto tasted incredible.. we were so hungry after quite a busy day, and it was really hitting the spot - so much flavour, very creamy and cooked just right - wonderful, until I realised there was something on top that looked like a shaved cheese. We immediately got the attention of the waitress, and asked her if it was dairy free, and if that was cheese on top. She looked at it, and said she wasn't sure, that it shouldn't be cheese because she told the kitchen about my allergies, but that she would check. The chef came out a few moments later and when he asked me how it was, I told him it was delicious, but that I was concerned that the dish contained dairy. He proceeded to tell me that the dish was dairy free, and that the cheese on top was a certain kind of "sheep cheese, not cow cheese", and therefore safe for me to eat because there is no lactose or anything dairy in it. I tried to explain to him that I can't have any kind of dairy - dairy is not just from cow... if it's made from any sort of animal milk, it is dairy and I expected a chef, especially at a fine dining restaurant of all places, to know this information, especially if the menu claims to have gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options as this one did.
The chef didn't seem to pleased with what I was telling him, but he did offer to remake my dish or suggested "eat it and find out that maybe sheep cheese is something you can have" after I told him I had eaten goat cheese before and not reacted as badly as I do with cow dairy products - feeling a little awkward at this point and not wanting to wait another half hour for a new dish while my partner enjoyed his meal, I did turn down his offer to remake the dish, so that's on me, I understand that. I ended up scraping the visible cheese off the top and gave it to my boyfriend to eat, but am now unfortunately experiencing a breakout because of it (thankful my allergy is not a severe one).
I'm really not one to complain, but after thinking about this, I felt the need to say something as allergies should be taken seriously - what if somebody with a more severe reaction was to experience the same service I did. Mistakes happen, that's understandable, but to not really understand what "dairy" means when working at a high-class restaurant is what I don't get. The fact that I confirmed my allergies on the phone, then upon first interaction with staff after being seated, again when inquiring about the specific dish, and finally when it arrived at the table, and I still got served dairy, is just sad. For the price we paid to dine here, I guess we had higher expectations.
3/5 because I want to at least credit the waitress, server, and bartender for their job well done.
I'm not sure if we will give the restaurants here another chance out of fear of a similar experience. Waldhaus seems to have more allergy-friendly options so maybe will try in the future.
Had the gluten free crust and cauliflower crust and wow sooooo good. Tried many other places before and now Sammy’s will be my go to for pizza! Can’t wait to try the other items on menu!
Highly recommend for anyone looking for Gluten Free options, including desert!! Atmosphere was warm and cozy, service was efficient, friendly and helpful.
Great, authentic Neapolitan pizza, and good wine. I had a classic Margherita, but there's a very wide selection of other pizzas, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free ones. Many other dishes as well. The servers were super nice and helpful.
I will definitely be coming back for more.
My family enjoyed their pizzas, but I had a gluten free pizza crust and it was among the worst I've had; very floury base that dried out my mouth on each bite. There weren't enough toppings to make up for the dryness... something I highly recommend they change if they have to keep the dough recipe.
It was akin to eating floury cardboard, but tougher.
Otherwise, a nice atmosphere (great normal pizzas) and decent service.
Ordered delivery through Uber. Gluten free (popular according to the restaurant), Margherita. The crust was soggy and a really strange consistency. Toppings slid off because of the weird plastic like crust. Cheese was also strange, like it was fake. To top it off, there was a hair baked into the crust. I get those things can happen but on top of the terrible, tasteless pizza it was pretty disappointing.
