As a long time customer of True Food Kitchen - for more than 4 years - what initially interested us was the healthy non GMO, Gluten Free menu that does not use unhealthy seed oils (like Canola/Rapeseed Oil) in its food preparation. First time dining at Black Walnut Cafe. It was busy (as it was Easter), but there were plenty of seats. This is a “seat yourself” establishment, which is not really clear until until you walk into the restaurant. Once my party walked in, there was plenty of choice seating. One of my favourite resteraunts- Consistently excellent food, (the blackened salmon is definitely a fave) with gluten free and vegetarian options, as well as amazing staff over all. Lu took care of my partner and I and she was so attentive and incredibly friendly. 10/10 would recommend.

I was extremely disappointed with the experience here. Which is unfortunate because my first visit a few months ago was extremely positive. From the extreme unprofessionalism of the servers, to the uneducated staff in the kitchen. I was served a gluten filled meal, even though I specifically requested a lettuce wrap and a gluten allergy.. when the food was put in front of me, I told the server it was not correct, and he said “you need to take that to the manager to fix it” instead of offering to take care of it. Overall extremely disappointed and will not be coming back.

My friend is obsessed with the 1/2 lbs burger, myself I'm gluten free, I really enjoy the tex mex salad. The plates are large and my salad filled the entire plate. Another of my friends is began, she ordered the vegan meatballs and they were as big as my first. She liked them so much she asked for a order to go. The prices may look high but you get great tasting food and big portions. I highly recommend.

We had one of the best servers that I've had in all of my dining experiences. Bertha was very attentive and friendly. She brought new glasses of water when it was near empty and without us asking.
