Love this place so much! I got the chocolate bomba whip which had dragon fruit and cacao nibs and it tasked like real ice cream but a lot healthier as it is sugar free, vegan, gluten free, dairy free and the cacao is fair trade. I also love the aesthetic of the place - by far one of my favorite bakeries in Brooklyn!
the best soba i’ve ever had in my life. beautiful atmosphere and interior design. felt like a cozy, loving home. everyone was attentive. the space is fun and filled with detail, welcoming. truffle soba gluten free and delicious. i will be back many times, love. koto
Stopped in to grab a coffee (which was great) and also a gluten free arepa. Love it when a coffee shop has some gluten free options!! The cheese arepa was wonderful, as was the coffee!
The gluten free pizza was very chewy - the flavor of margherita was not good, very bland; the tre foliage was very salty, but not flavorful. Won’t come back again
The Jungle Cafe is one of those places that nourishes you on all levels. Tasty, clean, fresh, healthy food in a warm, natural and inviting environment. Great smoothies, juices, sandwiches, salads, main courses, vegan and gluten free deserts — even hot cacao! The buffet has a wide selection and features rotating cultural themes daily (Mexican, Indian, Polish, etc.). Do yourself and your community a favor by supporting this great local establishment!
PS — It’s also a great place to get some reading or work done, or meet up with friends.
I rarely leave reviews, but I felt I had to share my experience today 3-3:30PM.
I came to pick up a birthday cake I had ordered three weeks in advance for someone very special to me. I chose this bakery because of its great reputation for healthy, gluten-free cakes—and I was genuinely looking forward to trying it.
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the service I received.
When I walked in, I greeted the staff warmly with a smile and a “hello.” The woman behind the counter asked for my pickup name, and I gave it—adding that it was for a cake I had pre-ordered.
She immediately cut me off and said, “I only asked for your name,” with a smirk, as if I had said something wrong. It felt unnecessarily rude, but I chose to stay polite and move on.
What really upset me was what happened next.
As she was handing me the cake, it suddenly tilted heavily to one side and nearly slipped out of the box. I had to catch it quickly with my own hands to keep it from toppling over completely.
Despite this, she didn’t apologize or check to see if the cake was okay. She simply said, “Don’t worry, it’s fine,” and handed it over as if nothing had happened.
Because of the tilt, the glitter decoration—which I had paid extra for—ended up smudged all over the clear part of the cake box.
Because I was leaving for the out of town right after, I didn’t have time to request a replacement—but I left the store feeling very upset and disappointed.
I also politely asked if they had a plastic knife I could use to cut the cake, and again, her response was dismissive and mocking. She laughed and said, “I’ve never heard of that,” as if it were a ridiculous question.
I completely understand if they don’t provide plastic knives—but there’s a respectful way to say that without belittling the customer or comparing other bakeries in a sarcastic tone.
And just to clarify, many bakeries do offer plastic knives for convenience—so it wasn’t an unreasonable question at all.
I don’t know what kind of day she was having or why she felt the need to treat a customer this way—but for someone picking up a cake for a special occasion, it left a really bitter impression.
This one interaction had the power to ruin what should’ve been a joyful and meaningful moment.
For a place with such a strong reputation, I hope the management considers the impact staff attitude can have on a customer’s experience.
No matter how good the product may be, the service still matters.
The employees here are truly the best and a great part of the neighborhood. I also really appreciate the gluten free bread options for bagels and sandwiches!!
Love this place! The staff is very friendly and the decor has a homey vibe to it - a nice contrast to generic cafes. The cold brew is very strong and I love the size of their ice. The pandebono is a must try!! I got three today. If you haven’t tried it’s a gluten free cheese bread that is incredible eaten warm.
There's only a couple of gluten free options on the menu, which makes ordering very limiting. The few things we could order were good.
Great space, service, and atmosphere.
They were very accommodating for gluten sensitive folks, and the food was amazing. Everything was good, but the sweet potato was easily my favorite. Excellent mocktail selection for non drinkers.
Esme is a quaint place to have a brunch or early dinner. the service was great the the restaurant was VERY comfortable. They have a wonderful drink menu and gluten free options. will be returning and the ambiance is just delightful.
Really nice new spot. The menu is different than most other Thai places I’ve been to (in a good way!) Really interesting and yummy options. I love how many vegan options there were and how clearly Vegan/Vegan optional and Gluten Free options were labeled!
I got the curry shroom balls and mocktail Ma Muang which were amazing!
Great atmosphere, and lovely staff. We’ll be coming back. Happy to have you in Greenpoint!
10/10! I have celiac and this place was perfect for gluten free dining. They had tamari, everything that I could eat was labeled, the server confirmed no cross contact, etc. I was with someone who isn’t gf and they enjoyed the meal just as much as I did. And the atmosphere is really nice, twinkle lights and soft music. Would highly recommend
It was a great meal! All of their soups are gluten free. The waiters were knowledgeable about gluten free options. I am not celiac, just my experience!
Best Italian place in greenpoint! They offer plenty of options to accommodate dietary restrictions including gluten free pasta and vegan, dairy free pesto. Service is always fantastic and the vibe is very cozy. Love their homemade gnocchi!
We ordered the funghi and gluten free cheese pizzas. Both were very good and much more reasonably priced than nearby pizza shops. We’ll definitely be coming back!
This place is the definition of romantic and cozy. We got there at around 6:30, and it was completely empty, but by the time we left at 8, the only seats left were at the bar. Definitely a spot that locals love, and for good reason.
To start, I had the moules marinière, which was amazing. For the main course, I went with the roasted swordfish, and my husband had the beef bourguignon. Everything was cooked perfectly. The wine list was spot on too. Every option paired beautifully with our dishes, which made the whole meal even better.
One of the things we really loved was the rotating menu. You never know what’s going to be available next time, but after this meal, we’re confident that whatever they serve will be just as good. We also had the Meyer lemon tart for dessert. We only ordered one, but honestly, we should have gotten two. It was that good.
They also have plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options, which is always nice to see. Can’t wait to come back and see what’s on the menu next time.
What a welcome addition to the neighborhood! Edy's food is delicious, super high quality, and the shop is very welcoming. Everything – the food, coffee, grab-and-go mezze, and pantry supplies like spices – is just top notch.
We loved the fattoush salad so much that we asked Edy to make some for our tiny COVID wedding. He was so easy to work with on even a very small catering order, and we ended up getting some kale and butternut squash salad, also. Everything was a hit; and our gluten free needs were no big deal. Thank you, Edy!
Great cocktails, nice food selection, great location and service. I am celiac and was able to eat here - there are things on the menu that are gluten free even if not labelled as such
Love this spot! A go to for ordering in for a group. The flavors are great and I can always find something especially for some gluten free family members. All the curries are delish too!
Panzón is all around amazing – I travel in Mexico frequently and they're serving up some of the best Mexican food I've had in the states. Their menu is always evolving to incorporate new things which is great, and the majority of items are gluten friendly. Specific things I love: the avocado marg is one of the tastiest drinks I've ever had (sounds weird BUT IT ISN'T), the tuna tostada is straight out of CDMX, the enchiladas rival Casa Enrique, and the gorditas are unspeakably good. I would be remiss if I didn't mention how legit the entire staff is – every single person working here is kind, cool, and skilled. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS SPOT, if you haven't already been here you're doing yourself a disservice.
If you want some legit Polish food with all the right flavors definitely check out Pierozek! sooo Yummy :) We visited at the beginning of 2024 during the week, around 3PM for late lunch. There was no wait and we got seated right away (party of 3). I did notice the place started filling up closer to 5PM so idk how crowded it gets closer to dinner. I tried Barszcz - strong, yummy flavors, deep red color - definitely the real deal and the seasoning was spot on! A cup of barszcz from Pierozek is a perfect remedy for cold weather, flu season and just overall feeling blah - it warms you up and makes you feel soo good and healthy :) Sauerkraut and mushroom Krokiety were my favorite - they were fluffy, amazing flavors and I seriously want to try to recreate them at home since we are not local and I am craving them right now. I had many krokiety in my life and make them at home at least a couple times a year but Pierozek has some secret recipe that makes them perfectly fluffy (which btw is not that easy when using sauerkraut since they can easily become dense and wet). The ratio of crepe to filling was perfect. My husband tried meat krokiety - also yum. We also tried pierogi - I had Jalapeno pierogi that had a great little jalapeno punch and yummy delicate pierogi dough. My husband tried the Savory Pierogi mix and Cheddar ones were his favorite. The menu has something for everyone from vegan, vegetarian, gluten free through meat heavy dishes and polish beer. I highly recommend it!
This place is truly a local Jewel on Newel street. It strikes there perfect balance of tradition and modernity. The food is all freshly made with love and care, you can surely taste the dedication. The casual milk-bar style dining popularized during Soviet era Poland is nostalgically revived accompanied by traditional Polish art and decorative motifs on the walls and fixtures. The selection of regional foods is exciting with considerable vegan and gluten free options. The staff and owners are super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place. It’s great for takeout and sit down though your food will taste better if you eat it fresh and enjoy the Polish atmosphere.
Super great; friendly and prompt staff. Very accommodating to dietary restrictions (fenugreek allergy, celiac and vegan friendly in our case). Had the butter chicken and pakora. Both were delicious.
lovely service and consideration. The sweetest guy owns the place and he’s always checking in with folks. The sandwiches are rich, informed, and pronounced. The arugula salad is the most incredible touch as they add it on the side of most options. It acts as a crucial bit of ruffage before digging into a sufficient serving of gluten. The mayo on Le Parisien made me cry tears of joy. 10/10 gotta recommend if you’re in the area. Feels like a refreshing slice of Western Europe in a predominantly Polish neighborhood.
First time visiting Chez Ma Tante and we loved every bit of it. From appetizer, to the drinks, to dinner and dessert, each was delicious. In fact, when leaving someone commented it may have been the best meal they have ever had, and everyone agreed. Make sure to get the pate and the mule (best cocktail I've ever tasted!). Finally, the chocolate cake is gluten free, and is absolute heaven.
The service was perfect. Attentive, friendly, and knew the menu line it was her favorite thing to talk about. Thank you for a great evening, CMT.
