We always stop by Blue Ridge Bagels when we are in Lynchburg. They have gluten free options, almost anything on their menu. The food and coffee is delicious!
My wife and I wanted a cheesesteak and had heard good things about La Villa. She got the chicken and I got the steak. Both were delicious, but I was especially pleased with the steak one because it was gluten free. I have had a lot of gluten free bread that is mostly terrible, but this was fantastic. I checked it a couple of times to make sure it wasn't regular bread.
Altogether the food was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a chance to talk to the owner and it's clear he's gone out of his way to source quality ingredients, including gluten free ones. Would definitely recommend.
Hands-down the best gluten-free cinnamon rolls on the East Coast. They're fantastic. Get them with the classic cream cheese frosting. My friends who order the regular cinnamon rolls say the gluten-free roll here tastes just as good as the regular. They're also as big as the regular ones, which is rare when getting gluten-free cinnamon rolls. I've been picking these up every time I'm in the area for the past 5 years. They're worth taking a detour for. Highly recommend.

I loved this place!! The employees were full of energy, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. The line for the pizza goes quickly. There are soooo many topping choices I was very impressed. I'm such a pizza snob but this place hit the spot! And that's saying a lot coming from me. The place is very trendy inside and has plenty of seating. The smores dessert was pretty yummy but I wasn't into the cookie. They have beer which I thought was cool. The pizzas are reasonably priced and a good size. Enough to take a slice or 2 home, depending on how much you eat in a sitting. Thw toppings are fresh, which is important to me. They even have different toppings to add once the pizza finishes like slice sauce, pesto, oil, etc. There are different dough choices including gluten free. They even have goat cheese for a cheese option which meant a lot to me (I can't handle cows milk, sadly 😔) my daughters and I were very happy with our meal here and we will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend coming here!!
Delicious dairy free ice cream. Honestly the best I've had. I wasn't expecting it to taste so good. I'll definitely be going back. They don't have many dairy free options but I was hapoy to see it wasmt the typical just vanilla option most ice cream parlors offer. They have some seats inside as well as a couple tables outside to eat at. Please ty of choices, they even have gluten free Waffle cones on certain days of the week. My daughter got a shake made with dairy free ice cream and dairy free milk and it was DELICIOUS! The people in our group that ate dairy also loved their ice cream. So they just have incredible ice cream overall. Good prices as well. Be sure to check this place out!!
Always great staff and great food! I'm gluten free and there's always plenty of choices to enjoy a meal. We've been going for years, and we haven't had 1 bad meal yet from them. Quick, quality, prices are far. All around a great place to eat for lunch or dinner! For 1 or for a party of 10 people, there's room inside or out on the front deck. Definitely recommend for a good place to eat for any occasion! From sodas/teas/lemoades/mixed drinks, to appetizers anyone would love, to soups and salads, wraps or bowls, pastas and burgers. There is something everyone will love!
We usually go for a late lunch, service is pretty good, usually only 1 person working at that time. They have a decent gluten free selection, INCLUDING THE FRENCH FRIES! The only complaint I have is that everything is sticky, the tables, menus, floors and seats half the time very sticky.
We were driving through Lynchburg and the menu at RA Bistro caught our eye. We ordered the seafood po boy, salmon salad, and a veggie burger (for the kids). Highlights: The po boy was so flavorful, sweet potato fries were delicious, salmon salad was tasty, and the gluten free bun for the burger was fantastic per my GF kiddo. The patio was comfortable with good shade. We were surprised by this small town gem and would come back when passing through for another quick bite!
Great local restaurant and the owners are so nice and friendly and their gluten free pizza is soooo good!! They were one of the first places with it years ago
Good food glad they have gluten free stuff. They have a specific place that they have to make the gluten free stuff away from the other items
Also very good about cleaning the machines due to my beef and pork allergy.
Great option for gluten free sandwiches, and the up charge for gluten free bread on a whole sandwich is only 40 cents! Bread isn’t amazing but it’s solid, I’ve had far worse GF bread. Ingredients are good and they put plenty of meat, they don’t skimp on it like Subway does. Though I do wish the sandwiches were a bit bigger for the price.
4.5 out of 5 stars
This "meh" experience began when I walked in the door, yesterday. The host was seating another party, and while I was waiting for him to return to the host station, I watched a group of 4 men enter in the side door and go sit in the main dining room at the only table for 7 that was open. I was hyper aware because I was part of a party of seven. When the host returned, he looked out at the dining room and said he could offer me a high top table at the back by the bar, or else it would be an hour wait. I pointed out that the party of four had just gone and sat down, and that I was here first. He looked at me blankly and repeated that he had a high top available. We took the high top, which we all came to regret.
The high top table was by a huge window with glaring diffused sunlight streaming in. Those of us facing the window tried to use our menus to shade us so we could see the rest of our group. It didnt work, was painful, and we all ended up with headaches.
But wait, there's more! The server took our order, which we placed as soon as we got our drinks because we know how slow the kitchen is at apparently all Mellow Mushroom locations. I ordered a side salad that arrived first, and we were given some plates and 5 napkins for a table of 7 people, but no silverware. 15 minutes later, I still had no silverware. I could see silverware rolled up behind the bar, and there was a dishwasher rack of silverware on the table behind us, that, in addition to adding to the classy ambience, was a constant reminder of what we didn't have. When the entrees began arriving, a food runner brought a Cobb salad for another of our party. I looked her right in the eyes and said, "We need silverware." She looked at me blankly, because apparently she got the same training as the host, and then walked away without saying a word! After another 10 minutes of not being able to flag anyone down, our server returned and, to her credit, brought silverware very quickly at that point.
But wait, there's more! The pizzas arrived, but no one had ordered the Merry Prankster that a different food runner was holding along with a Karma. It should have been 2 Kosmic Karmas, instead. Before I could say I'd just eat that instead (because, you'll recall they're slow in the kitchen at MMs), she spirited it away.
Things that could have happened at that point, but didn't include: the runner could have informed the kitchen of the error, or informed our server, but she did not. Perhaps they were all distracteded and eating a Merry Prankster pizza in the back. I wouldn't know, I never saw them again. I guess the prank was on me. Note to staff, if you bring the food, you aren't done until you've brought silverware and you've let someone now when the order wasn't right!
Also, our server could have stopped by to see if our order was complete, or how our food was. She did not. Finally, after more than 10 minutes, I got up and found her. She didn't know about the lack of a Kosmic Karma. She did apologize and she came back 5 minutes later to let me know it was being made. It did finally come, long after we were boxing our leftovers and asking for the check, and still squinting into the core of the sun. To her credit, she brought a box along with it, and she easily split our check 6 ways without batting an eye. She was very nice, but I still probably over-tipped at 22 percent given all the other issues.
Now, you might wonder if a manager would come apologize, or if one Kosmic Karma would be comped off the bill. The answer is no. And, we were on the way home from a weekend youth event, with hours left to drive, so I just didn't have the wherewithal to ask for the manager myself, or wait any longer. As we left, we saw the party of 4 who had taken the table for 7, also getting up to leave. I hope they had a better experience.
Even after a bad experience last year, we stopped here because they can make a good gluten-free pizza without cross-contamination of wheat. And, because Chik-fil-A is closed on Sundays.
I guess the only Karma we had was bad karma.
My first experience at the Hot and Cold Cafe was probably hands down the best experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I walked in as a stranger and left feeling like family. It was my first time trying Indian food and it was amazing. Not to mention the chef made everything to order so he was able to accommodate my gluten allergy and dairy restrictions easily. I will certainly be going back to try new things 🥰
Such a wonderful find! The gals working here are so friendly and welcoming, they have delicious crepes and even offer a gluten dairy free version which is so nice! The coffee is also amazing and the best we have had in the area. Will definitely be making this a normal stop for coffee and crepes when in town.
Best Gluten free pizza in Lynchburg and they are so kids friendly giving coloring books and pencils. Spinach artichoke dip amazing as is cheesy bread. All pizzas delicious.
Love Millie's! the food and customer service are top tier! I always get something different when I go because their are so many options. I am so grateful for all the gluten free options it is so helpful!!
Jersey mike's is by far the best option for great hoggies for people that need to stay Gluten Free. The whole process of cleaning everything down, changing gloves, scrapping the grill, and asking questions is really appreciated. The gluten free bun option is quite good as well and can be a full size or half size.
My daughter and I enjoy eating here once or twice a month, and the service and food are consistently excellent. We only eat seafood and veggies and we avoid gluten, so I can only speak to specific dishes. My daughter is obsessed with the ahi tuna appetizer, which is always delicious. Typically I get the mahi or tuna entrees (which are both great) but today I wanted something light so I did a house salad and added grilled shrimp; the shrimp was beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection. Sides are always yummy. Our server today was Michelle, and she was amazing- while also managing what was definitely a busy shift. This is a favorite spot with great food, and a place where we feel comfortable and know that we will receive kind and personable service from great people like Michelle.
Chose to meet family here due to past experiences with gluten-free options. Not as many options available as when we last came, but still good food. Able to seat our large group and keep our drinks filled, which is saying a lot for some of us.
Always accommodating to gluten allergies and fun soda machine with many flavor options! The fries have been noticeably less quantity than in years past and burgers are smaller. Not good for peanut allergies but appreciate the use of fresh handcut potatoes!
My Fiancé absolutely loves getting a build your own bowl every time we go, and build it with our favorite bases and toppings. The staff is always amazing and cheerful, and the service is fast. The atmosphere is sunny and inviting. They are constantly coming out with new menu options and offerings. This place is great for anyone like my fiancé with a gluten intolerance or celiac as everything offered and made here is gluten free. She never has any fear of cross contamination when ordering from here and isn’t limited to a certain portion of the menu which is a dream come true although she has definitely found what she loves from here! We love Nautical Bowls and have been regulars ever since they opened in Lynchburg!
My friend and I had a great brunch here, with delicious food, friendly service, and a lovely atmosphere. The menu has good gluten free options, so my friend ate well, and I ate my cheesy grits and bacon egg and cheddar sandwich just as well. I highly recommend this place!
Absolutely divine! The food was so good. My husband and I had the scallops, and my mom had the tenderloin. All wonderful. Our waiter David was fantastic! My husband is gluten-free, and they have a great selection of dishes. Oh, and the wine selection is amazing! I don't have enough space to say how great it all was! We will be back!
The grilled chicken tenders w/ sweet potato fries was SO good as a GF option! both were seasoned super well and the staff were super attentive to my allergies
They have a ton of options, including Gluten Free. I prefer this one over the one in Forest. Both are good, but having a place to sit down without being outside in the weather, is so nice! This place reminds me of the mom and pop ice cream shops, I grew up with. Totes adorbs!
From out of town visiting a couple of my kids and just happened by this place. The ice cream choices were many and hard to pick from as they sounded so good. The family group tried a variety of choices and all were awesome. Friendly and helpful employees. One of my daughters has celiac and currently dairy free as well and they had choices that she was able to eat. That is awesome. Will definitely come here again when we visit again.

Sweet Indulgence Bakery is truly the sweetheart of Lynchburg! I ordered a beautiful gluten-free lavender color birthday cake from Ashley and it was the best cake I ever had! The interior was an ombré layered pink. It wasn’t too sweet and had a delicate richness to the texture. I highly recommend Sweet Indulgence Bakery for all your celebration and bakery needs. Ashley is so kind and helpful. She makes your ideas come to life! I highly recommend this bakery to all family, friends, and neighbors in the Lynchburg area:)
Skyline is uniquely situated on top of the Virginian hotel in downtown Lynchburg. The restaurant has a good selection of beer and cocktails as well as some great appetizers. I recommend the coconut shrimp appetizer. The pork ribeye was cooked done and was very tender and I really enjoyed the beets, goat cheese and roasted potatoes. Portions were good and service was excellent. If you have gluten allergy, they are very accommodating however Skyline at the time of this posting only has 1 fryer so there is the possibility of cross-contamination. Overall a wonderful experience and would definitely go back to try other dishes. Whether a fun night out celebrating something or just a romantic dinner for 2, would highly recommend Skyline if you are in the Lynchburg area.
For all of you struggling to find a gluten-free burrito that tastes like the real thing, look no further. Great food, service, and atmosphere. Looks small but apparently there is seating upstairs as well.
My sister is highly allergic to gluten. We spoke with the manager who guaranteed ys that the staff would glove up and not use any dish or cutting board that had been in contact with gluten. She was able to order from a gluten-free menu and to truly eat a gluten-free meal.
What a phenomenal find!!!!! Great coffee- both hot and iced- as well as donuts made fresh to order in a variety of flavors. They even have gluten free days (certain days because they change the frier oil as well as a gluten free doughnut mixture) and seasonal flavors.
They always have the classics of regular glazed, powdered, chocolate covered and/or sprinkled.
OH SO TASTY!!!! And the young lady at the counter was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend you add them to your list for visitation if you are in the area or a local whose never been before!
Fresh, modern atmosphere with a rustic touch. Beers, wines, and cocktails on tap with two bars- one upstairs and one down. There's a patio on the second floor that is making me look forward to the warm weather! The menu is large and accommodating (gluten free and vegetarian options) and everything I've had so far has been delicious. Friendly service and a good location in Cornerstone are going to make this place a town favorite.
I ordered bowls for my family first of all we picked them up and the allergy bowls were not separated in the bags. We ordered 4 bowls and 2 of them were allergy bowls that were gluten allergies. They ran out of gluten free granola and did not communicate whatsoever that they were. It took going back into the store to ask if we could have gluten free granola for the worker to say it. It’s not that hard to call my number on the app or tell use when we first picked up the bowls. The worker was not apologetic and was not very polite. The quality of some of the bowls were not made well with barely any toppings. Overall the experience that this location was disappointing.
