We ate here for the first time tonight and it was delicious authentic Italian with the bonus of accommodating our daughter’s Coeliacs. We’ll definitely be back!
The food was absolutely fantastic – but the service was even better! As someone with food allergies, I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The waitress asked about any allergies already during the reservation and later pointed out exactly what I could safely eat from the menu. It's especially recommendable for people with celiac disease. A truly wonderful experience!
Finally gluten free fish and chips and other food. So clean, fresh and yummy.
Just had battered Tarahiki, omg I'm in heaven. Will now be my go to place.
Simply delicious. The food is full of flavor, and almost everything on the menu is gluten-free. A great spot for something tasty, different, and truly Latino!
Don’t miss the “Playera” arepa… it’s the best🤤
Highly recommended.
Can not recommend enough! The food is amazing, great value for money and the coffee is always consistently delicious.
Very celiac safe with lots of gluten free options and staff are knowledgeable about cross contaminations etc
Must get the garlic mushrooms.
I always go to duck island at least once a week and never thought to leave a review. Out of all my times here, today was the best one! Thanks to Cordell. Such a genuine person who actually recommended stuff I’ve never had before.
The gluten free cone yall?!! Actually phenomenal (I’m not allergic to gluten).
Thank you heaaaps Cordell.
My boyfriend & I had a lovely dining experience here recently.
Our waitress Hannah was so attentive to our dietary restrictions (Coeliac) and it was clear she genuinely cared.
The same goes for the talented chefs in the kitchen, who were super patient and understanding and took the Coeliacs/gluten allergy very seriously.
Thank you all for making this such a lovely date night for us! We’ll definitely be back.
Blown away by how many Gluten Free items are available.
Normally you get a huge cabinet that contains gluten then a really small one next to it with a couple of GF options.
Here is the opposite.
GF sweet treats (at least 6 to choose from)
GF sandwiches (on awesome bread)
GF risotto cakes
GF pizza breads
GF frittata & tarts
GF salad options
Topped with awesome coffee & service.
Incredibly well-managed and very good service at a locally-owned restaurant that truly knows their stuff with keto, coeliac-safe, low FODMAP and other nutritional needs. In two years of living locally and eating here monthly or at least quarterly, we’ve never had a problem with an order nor a bad experience.
Finally a Cafe that caters for allergies! Specifically for me, most of the menu could be catered as gluten free and I wasn't disappointed. The menu was varied, not just the normal Cafe staples which was so refreshing and the staff were lovely. A lovely lunch on my last day in New Zealand. One happy tourist and if I were a local I'd be a regular. 😁
Food was amazing! I wish I'd remembered to take some photos. The only let down was service was a little slow- as in getting drinks initially and then the tables weren't cleared at all...but the food came out quickly and I'd go back again simply for the food options! 4 of us are coeliac and there were so many dishes that were either gluten free or could be modified for us 😍
One of my go-to cafes with my partner – we’ve been here so many times and it never disappoints!
The gluten-free bagel is absolutely delicious – great texture and flavour.
But the highlight has to be the waffle fried chicken with honey sriracha syrup… sweet, spicy, crispy – just perfect.
Everything looks as good as it tastes – definitely a great spot if you love taking food pics 📸
friendly service, and tasty food every time. Highly recommended!
Always an absolute party to visit for my coeliac daughter.
The staff are very well trained on how to handle a request for coeliac ice cream. They make fantastic gluten free cones, and will specifically go out the back to grab a brand new tub of ice cream with a new scoop.
My coeliac daughter turned 7 today and we took her tonight like we do sometimes. I’m so happy that she can feel completely like every other person here with a huge range of flavours available. Her favourite is ambrosia. The staff is always friendly too. If anyone is looking for a great gluten free dessert look no further!

My review is focusing on the set menu, but I was wanted to preface this by saying that this place is always nice, and always quite gluten-friendly.
We came here for the set menu on New Years as a group of four and it was absolutely phenomenal. Unfortunately for us, though every item was delicious, the greatest hits were the items that aren't normally on the menu (I loooooved the beef tataki so much that we asked for more). No need to be scared or worried about there only being one option for the set menu, because every option was stunning. And I'm saying that as a relatively fussy eater.
The staff were generally amazing, but something that stood out to me is how accommodating the staff were when it came to our celiac friend. In spite of it being a set menu, they managed to ensure that she had gluten-fres options, especially when it came to dessert and we finally got served our food separately. Would highly recommend for anyone that can't eat gluten, as we frequently come herd with that friend for the normal menu, as there are plenty of options to choose from.
One thing to note about Mekong Baby is that it is more on the expensive side, but I wholeheartedly believe that it is worth it for the food and service.
Came in for a quick lunch. My partner ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas Gluten free and I had the pork tacos, beef brisket lollipops and the chips.
Atmosphere was nice and chill. Quiet for a Saturday lunch time but there was a lot going on outside.
Service was quick and easy. The server helped my partner who had a bee sting which was much appreciated.
Food came out fast and was temperature hot. The chips were the best thick cut pub chips I’ve had in a while. Good amount of salt and perfect amount of aioli. The fish was cooked well and wasn’t dry. The brisket lollipops had great seasoning and flavours were sweet and fragrant.
The corn tortillas on the tacos did fall apart more than I’d like but everything else for the taco was delicious. The salsa and mole were delicious with the pork.
Haven’t had a bad meal at The Kestrel to date. Thanks team
Super cool place! Ambience and atmosphere is so cool, staff were all amazing and very knowledgeable. Food was really yum, with a good variety of coeliac safe gluten free options, but portion sizes were pretty small for the price tag! Nice spot for a special occasion.
What a little gem! They have a number of Gluten Free dishes, which attracted me to try them in the first place. Food was absolutely delicious, staff super friendly and service was quick.
Plenty of parking at rear, off Moselle Ave.
This will definitely now be my "go to" local cafe.
Very nice i have coeliac disease and they are very accommodating. We came from Wellington to visit our son, daughter in law and grandchildren. I think we will visit each time we come up to Auckland.
Such amazing hospitality, they ran out of gluten free bread and had someone go out and get me some, thank you for a delicious meal team! Will be coming back :)
I celebrated a significant birthday at Mudbrick and had a wonderful time, including a complementary glass of very delicious bubbles brough to me because it was my birthday.
The views from the restaurant are superb and the ambience is spot on. The wait staff were very attentive and informative and the service was excellent. My meal was delicious and top quality as was everyone else's with the exception of the people who ordered fish as a main as unfortunately it was a bit dry, but that was the only blip. We had one coeliac amongst us and there were lots of options on the menu for her.
It was a really top class meal and I highly recommend it for special occasions.
Excellent food and drinks. Nice vibe. Very friendly staff. Food is very healthy, all freshly made and so yummie. They are vegetarian but lots of their dishes are vegan or can be made vegan. As far as I saw there are also many glutenfree options. I hope I can visit again sometime.
Fantastic food and so much of the menu is Gluten Free! Service was smashing, super friendly staff and very efficient. If I was staying in Auckland longer, I’d come back again.
Thank you for your lovely service. I organised a team dinner for 19 here. From Chloe who I was texting to organise the event, to the staff on the night who were all smiles and patient even when I got confused with the bill at the end (totally me and my bad maths) and the efforts they made on a special vegetarian, non dairy, non gluten roast! Not to mention the beef roast they did for us mid week! And the great mocktails for those not drinking as well as a great selection of alcoholic options. All round made for a very lovely evening and some very full and happy people! Thank you!
Burger Burger is a standout choice for burger lovers, and both the Commercial Bay and Newmarket locations deliver consistently high-quality experiences. The Newmarket branch, located in the trendy Osbourne Lane, is perfect for a casual meal, pre-movie date, or Friday night with friends. The menu features classics like the Beef & Cheese, Pan-fried Fish, and Kiwi Burger, alongside sides such as curly fries and shoestring fries, all cooked to perfection and full of flavour.
Service at the Newmarket spot is known for being friendly and efficient, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. The decor has a lively, cool vibe, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Parking is convenient, with options nearby, and the area offers plenty of other eateries if you feel like exploring.
Burger Burger Newmarket also caters to groups and events, making it easy to book a table or even host a party. With vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available, there’s something for everyone. If you’re after delicious burgers, great service, and a vibrant setting, Burger Burger Newmarket is definitely worth a visit.
Had dinner last night at El Greco and we absolutely loved the experience. From the warm and friendly staff, to the comfortable outdoor seating, to the amazing food, everything was exceptional.
We had a quiet dog and this was fine. Flat surfaces, so ok for wheelchairs too. Our fried has celiacs and this also was not a problem.
I loved the Italian lagers (it was great to have another option, rather than just Peroni). The 7 ⭐️ Metaxa was similar to a Cognac, full of flavours and a great way to finish the night over dessert. Nice wine selections too.
Really enjoyed all the food - souvlaki, squid, pasta. Lots of generous amounts of salad.
My only feedback would be to only use vegetables that are in season. Brussel sprouts are not in season now, which means they’re probably cooked from frozen and we found them mushy.
Apart from that we loved everything about dining here and would highly recommend it to others.
Graci!
Awesome service, good food and very accommodating for food allergies. Nice selection of Gluten free options. Our server, Tye and Chef Robin went above and beyond on great customer service. A nice welcome to New Zealand for us!
Really nice place. Served nice gluten free for coeliac member, vegan for another, and nice steaks - scotch angus. Music a bit loud - hard to hear conversation.
The food, cocktails and service were fantastic. Lots of gluten free options including an amazing pad seuw. Also had the sticky ribs and wok veg which were also great. Would highly recommend.
Had a great pizza here. Taste was very good and a nice touch to the pepperoni pizza was the parmesan cheese they added.
It was nice that allergens could be taken into account, for example they had a gluten-free base, great.
