We went for happy hour and are immediately obsessed. $6 house margarita, fantastic. $3 street tacos, delicious. They have a community table, beautiful patio, nice music. Menu specifies dairy free, vegetarian option, gluten free, and spicy.
Great service, very little wait. Pizzas were good, and love their gluten-free pizza options. Even though it’s a chain, it’s a nice place and worth the Uber!
I was recommended this restaurant due to their gluten free selection. Loved the cauliflower as well as the mint tea. Thank you, Nathan, for being a fantastic server!
Lovely place, a classic bistro atmosphere, with great food and wine. The Marlowe burger is incredible, and it's gluten free without the bun. Honestly the burger I've ever had. Horseradish gives it a special kick!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ In all areas
I’ve been coming to Amber for over 13 years, and it remains one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the Bay Area. When I lived here, I was a regular, and even now, I make it a point to visit whenever I’m in town.
The ambience is inviting, the seating is comfortable, and the service is among the best I’ve experienced at any Indian restaurant. I’ve dined here countless times—whether for their daily buffet or à la carte dinners (at least 50+ times!)—and they have never missed the mark on taste or service. Whether dining solo, with a small group, or with a large party, my experience has always been exceptional.
As a vegetarian, I’ve tried nearly everything on their menu over the years, and I’ve never been disappointed. But this time, they surprised me! Since I was dining alone, they introduced me to their Thali menu for dinner, which I didn’t even know existed. It’s a perfect option for solo diners—highly recommended! (See the menu attached.)
I ordered the Vegan/Gluten-Free Thali, and every dish was superb. The Kale Kofta Curry could have been better, but overall, the meal was excellent.
As always, the service was stellar. Amber SF remains a must-visit for me whenever I’m in the Bay Area. Looking forward to my next visit!
Being gluten free, pizza is often a disappointment for me. However, Empire was a pleasant surprise and has the best gluten free pizza I’ve ever had! And they sell it by the slice (square)
Gluten free menu items clearly marked but not remotely celiac safe food. Extensive discussions with patient and friendly waiter who kept checking with kitchen and was not versed in truly gf food. Mixed fryer. When we opened our gluten free take out meal it was covered in gluten gravy. With bun in a separate box. They didn’t charge us which we appreciated.
Service was fast and the staff was helpful. I admit it was a little pricey for a gluten free pizza ($31), but it actually fed 2 people so I guess overall it wasn't that bad. Pizza was actually incredibly delicious! Got the Greek gluten free pizza and honestly I couldn't tell it was gluten free. They have a lot of great topping options as well, even though most of it is a la carte. Would return nonetheless because overall it was worth it.
This bbq spot is a gluten-free heaven. The menu is clearly labeled with tons of options, and all but 1 of their sauces is GF. So happy I finally had lunch here!
Food:
I had the $15 lunch special with 2 meats, miso soup, rice and salad, and added the garlic mushroom for $2-3 extra. The Toro Beef (thinly sliced beef) was great and the spicy sauce was amazing. I wouldn’t order Angus Beef rib (thicker cut) again because no matter how long I cooked it, it was hard to chew.
The salad was very fresh and the mushrooms were great. The extra garlic sauce from the mushrooms was perfect for eating with rice.
Service:
Solid, friendly service that checked up on me frequently. The 2 servers were very smiley and patient in answering my questions.
Atmosphere:
It was chill during lunchtime and I like that it didn’t get very smoky like some bbq places do. The restaurant and bathroom are both clean.
It was a great value and I’ll definitely be back for their lunch special, and meal sets for groups!
Omg! This is one of the best hidden gem 💎 in the city.
Everything from food, their unique sauces, to service and care was an experience.
Great attention to detail and deliciously unique food, all while serving at the busiest time of the day.
We were party of 8, and everyone loved and couldn't stop raving about it.
Mind you, each of their food portion were huge, and they suggested that we share in a family style!
Also, they took care of our divrse diatery needs.

Loved it and would recommend anyone to try it out.
Beautiful, gorgeous, and luxurious ambience. My husband took me out to afternoon tea here for our anniversary and I was just blown away at how majestic the Garden Court dining area was.
There was live piano and a good array of afternoon tea delights.
For those with celiac or gluten free allergies, they were able to accommodate.
We loved the tacos - they were delicious. We had so much fun. Met Max the owner. He made us feel to welcome. I highly recommend coming here. Staff was attentive - great service. Gluten friendly.
There was an abundance of food options and almost EVERYTHING was gluten free! I wish my stomach could have held more food considering it was “all you can eat” and everything I tried was delicious. Our server, Milton, was exquisite and very helpful during our dining experience. 100% recommend!
