Highly recommend this Cafe. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Food was amazing, many choices of gluten free and keto. I will definitely be back again.
The most incredible gluten and dairy free waffle cones. I also had their ice cream sandwich and they make the creamiest dairy free ice cream. Definitely worth checking out. It's 100% gluten free🙌🏻
I almost never go into town, but I will more regularly to go to this cafe. I'm not on a plant-based diet, but that doesn't matter - their selection is huge, healthy and delicious, service excellent. (Also tons of gluten free options)
A beautiful, cozy cafe! We had breakfast in the café and absolutely loved it. There are many vegan and vegetarian options. I had the granola and can recommend it to everyone. The taste is simply indescribably delicious! Plus fresh vegan yogurt and almond milk. Also fruit paste and fresh fruit included. There are plant-based milk alternatives to choose from. The food was really nice and carefully prepared. Therefore it tastes and looks great! Since we were so excited, we took our lunch to go with us: the vegan panini and a “vegan and gluten free peanut chocolate bar/cake”. I still dream about both of them now because they were so delicious! The panini had a delicious vegetable patty. The chocolate cake/bar was so creamy and delicious! If I had the opportunity, I would definitely be a regular customer of the café! Therefore a recommendation from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for this great breakfast experience!
Have been here before and enjoyed the experience so thought we’d give it another go.
Smashed Avocado Bagel (with Salmon as an add-on) was generous and the salmon portion very generous. Bagel was very tough to cut with a knife though but maybe being gluten free had something to do with that? Very tasty though.
We also had the Poke Bowl which was underwhelming. Not the traditional bowl at all, as it was on a plate. No sign of coriander in the rice, no kewpie mayo, no crispy shallots and no sweet chilli (all were advertised on the menu). Pretty disappointing for $32.90 and our two meals and bottled juice made it an $80 lunch.
Great place for a quick bite to eat or full feed.
Very clean and waiters are very pleasant and curious.
This time just went for a lge bowl of chips and wine as we know this place caters for persons with Coeliac.
Grindz is amazing, always high quality food and great coffee. One of our favorite spots to go. I personally struggle with dietary restrictions, and I have had some of the best gluten free and dairy free snacks at Grindz! My all time favorite being the banana chocolate chip cake, with coconut yogurt on the side when it's on the menu! Absolutely wonderful owner who is always a joy to talk to and she is so grateful. Keep doing what you guys do, you rock!
the gamberia pasta was absolutely beautiful, aswell as the cubano cocktail. being gluten & dairy free, it’s hard for me to come across restaurants that have my dietary options but the staff was excellent. will definitely visit again for dinner when I’m back at the mount.
Came in on a quiet saterday, lovely staff and great service. Best gluten free toasted sandwich I've had. 5 stars will probably be back next time I'm in town
Fantastic restaurant, delicious food, great prices, loads of gluten free options. The service was fast, friendly and we couldn’t fault anything. Loved it so much we went twice while on holiday at Mt Maunganui.
Hubby said it was the best chicken stack he has ever eaten and I loved the gluten free salmon hash. Great coffee and lovely relaxing spot to get off the road.

The garden centre is lovely to walk around. The Cafe has nice food and friendly service. There are outdoor tables on both sides of the cafe so loads of room. They have a kumera rosti dish that can be made vegan and gluten free that is quite nice but it is a bit pricey.
Crust me it's gluten free is the most fabulous food truck ever. Nothing compares. If you missed gluten free pies, theirs are the best, I have not found any others that compare. I regularly buy their frozen pies, so I can consume at home. I also have had their other product's and they're so delicious. They are always so friendly and helpful. I am so glad I found them and I hope they are around for a long time.
Nice brunch spot. Staff member said big breakfast could be gluten free and then served it with hash browns that weren’t gluten free. Shouldn’t be hard to get gluten free hash browns or just not suggest that as a gluten free meal.
Lovely for a bite to eat on the way through. Cabinet food was too expensive at $15 for each item so ended up just having cheese scones. Very limited gluten free choices. Coffee was fab but had to have a long black as the non cow's milk options were all Alternative brand which makes an ikk cuppa. Friend had a cow's milk latte and liked it. Music was very loud, but vibe was cool inside.
Came on 18th November 2023 for a birthday celebration, excellent service from initial phone booking to everything on the night, food was fantastic highly recommend the platters but for me the Vegetarian Pizza was absolutely delicious we thoroughly enjoyed our night here and thought it was good value for money. Great selection for our gluten free members of the group too, Thanks Fainting Goat for a great night😊
I can give 5 star for banana muffin and their gluten free snacks. So yumm. However, Staff are ridiculous. They are more interested in talking with each other than serving customers...So rude customer service
Really lovely staff. I have specific diet restrictions and they kindly made me a toastie on gluten free bread. Most of my group got coffee and the big sausage roll. What a great deal. The sausage roll really is big!
A must-try and fairly priced! Amazing food and large portions. Friendly service. None-allergy food options, vegan, and gluten free options.Possible to buy some great craft beers!
Great service . I needed gluten free food and needed to educate the waitress that the fries were not gluten free if they were cooked in a fryer with gluten. So.if you are gluten free/coeliacs don't get their frys. But the rest of the meal was tasty and brilliant
Brilliant food, we have never been disappointed. Fresh, full of flavour and they have good knowledge of food allergies. Unfortunately no separate fryer for gluten free however they were understanding in being able to swap items out and offer replacement options. Allergies were well noted and highlighted on our order. All dishes at our table were beautifully presented and delicious!
Highly recommend the grilled salmon and prawn salad 10/10
Had a wonderful meal and the best waiter ever, Baru made us feel totally welcome and nothing was too much trouble. There was a great selection of gluten-free options for me and the food was cooked to perfection. A lovely experience!
To be as absolutely fair as I can be let me add some context.
1) I am a tourist so I'm unaware with what the average pricing/quality is of restaurant food
Service: 5/5 The wait staff were very friendly, accommodating and answered all our questions
Drinks: 5/5 The cocktails were tasty, not too strong and had lovely flavours and presentation. They were $20NZ each.
Atmosphere: 5/5 It's a cute spot, we ate indoors as it was a little cooler out however they also have a nice outdoor area. Good music, fresh aromas from the kitchen and good seating.
Food: 2/5
I'm going to use Cook/Flavour/Plating/Size/Price as my rating scale here.
1- The cook of the food was perfect. There was nothing over/under done. The meat was tender and juicy, the veggies crisp and fresh.
2- The Plating was elegant and well done. The dishes were presented thoughtfully and had pops of color.
3- Price - So this is where I'm unfamiliar with what normal pricing is, however we paid around $120Nz for 2 people to have 2 drinks, a large platter and a snack each. We omitted having the short ribs as they were $75 and based on the portion size and flavours I'm glad we did. Prices seem steep for what you get but it could be normal.
4- Size - The dishes are small. They recommend 1 Large + snack or 3 Small per person and that's probably right however given the price that's a steep bill. We tried sharing 1 Large + 2 snacks between the both of us and left Hungry and kind of let down.
5- Flavour - As I'm finding with everything in Tauranga, it's bland. Even our potato chips from the grocery store were under seasoned. If you want crisp, natural veggies then you're fine but the only hint of any flavours or seasonings was salt and some chopped chillies. It's definitely not the robust and complex flavours you'd get from other Asian cuisine and while it boasts to be a fusion restaurant, it's an attempt at best. While flavour is entirely a personal preference, as there are raving reviews about this restaurant, myself personally found the cook and presentation of the food to be lovely but the flavours left me wanting.
All in all I gave it a 3/5 as the drinks, service and atmosphere are great but the Price/Size/Flavour of the dishes felt lacking.
* It is worth noting they have a lot of Gluten free options so if you're struggling to find somewhere to eat, I'd still recommend it as its by no means awful. It's a nice, slightly pricey, average restaurant experience*
My daughter has been here many times raving about their "Reuben" and hash sticks, it's her ultimate favourite, the kind that puts a smile on a teenager! 😀 I now see why! Although I had the single burger & hash sticks, it was delicious & her Reuben left me wanting to come back & try it out for sure! Some menu items cater to dairy free & gluten free too (bonus)! Staff super lovely & cute place. Highly recommend 🙌💓
First time dining with Village Green Bar - celebrating 2 birthdays and was impressed by the simple online reservations but, I mentioned in the comments that a diner was coeliac and when we arrived at the table there was a set separate menu just for her - it seems like a small thing but, from our experience dining around Tauranga this was a first. Food - amazing - we had the Porterhouse steak, and it was massive and delicious. Cocktails - amazing, desert - delicious, service - on point and respectful and friendly.

Absolutely blown away! 🌟 I’ve never tasted gluten-free cookies like the ones from Sage and Grace, they are on a whole new level. Usually, gluten-free treats feel like chewing on cardboard… but not these! These cookies are soft, rich, and literally melt in your mouth. You’d never even know they’re gluten-free, that’s how good they are.
Whether you’re coeliac, gluten intolerant, or just love a damn good cookie, do yourself a favour and try these. Sage and Grace, you’ve seriously changed the game! 🍪✨
"Wow, I think this is my new favourite eatery", I told my family, while still browsing the menu.
This is the kind of food I love and it was excellent. I absolutely loved the dinner here and left so full I was uncomfortably content. It's a great atmosphere and the waiting staff were friendly and professional.
Seems to have plenty of gluten free options available for Coeliacs which pleased my wife and food came reasonably quickly too.
I will definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu.
Popular place and we were nearly put off by all the tables being reserved in advance. But fortunately we went in and it was great. They have a few vegan and gluten free options including a salad, cauliflower bites, a vegan lasagne, and fries plus others that could be made vegan/gf. Worth a visit but be aware the coffee is expensive at $9 for a large decaf flat white.
