Great if you are vegetarian or vegan, gluten-free options available
Server vigilant on this point (confirmation of intolerance or celiac before ordering)
Went for brunch had the eggs Benny it was ok ham was delicious English muffin soggy the sauce was very different. Potatoes good says gluten friendly but didn't have many options
We had a 7:30 reservation and when we arrived it was evident that the air conditioning was broken, as it was very hot in the entry and they had fans placed around the restaurant. The hostess didn’t mention address this in any way but seated us in front of a fan so the temperature was comfortable during our meal. We had cocktails (Lemoncello spritz and an Old Fashioned) and they were very good. My wife is gluten free and they offer a gluten free rice crust, so she ordered the Prosciutto and Fig on GF crust, I had the Four Cheese. The pizzas came out quickly and the crust on both pizzas were excellent. Usually gluten free crusts are thin and hard/crispy but this was very fluffy and authentic to a true Italian pizza crust - Amazing! We were a little surprised that the pizzas came did not have any “base layer” of cheese or white sauce; just the crust, goat cheese crumbles spread out, arugula, prosciutto, and fig jam sprinkled across it. The effect was that it was a little dry…basically a salad laid on a crust, but overall still good and flavorful. My four cheese pizza was excellent and very flavorful.
The service was not very attentive, so it was hard to get their attention to ask for anything, despite being one of only about 3 customers.
Overall, I would go back for the food, but would have had a better experience if the AC had been working and the staff had been a bit more attentive.
Lovely open kitchen space with minimalist decor. Phenomenal service and dining experience.
📖 6-course seasonal menu (with an option for 1 additional service). We went with 6-course.
😋 The meal kicked off with an amazing amuse-bouche.
The chawanmushi that follows was less exciting, because the kombu sauce tasted a tad sweet for my liking. The shiitake was tasty though.
The venison carpaccio was eye-opening 🤩 didn’t know that venison could be so tender and scrumptious. The brioche was buttery soft. The dish melted in my mouth in a most satisfying manner.
The black cod was good, but the star of this dish was the cream sauce. I devoured the sauce with the sourdough bread 😋
I’m not a fan of quail in general, so the dish did not stand out to me. I do remember the foie gras being delicious.
We had a special risotto dish because we were still hungry 🐷 and it was the absolute highlight of our dinner. Perfectly al dente and the ultimate comfort food.
The desserts wrapped up the meal beautifully. Particularly loved the marinated strawberry and soft chocolate sponge cake.
Overall the food was enjoyable. Every dish feels very thoughtfully crafted in terms of the flavor complexity. While portions erred on the small side for us, this is fairly standard for fine dining.
✨ So deeply grateful for the exceptional service. Definitely one of the best restaurant service I have experienced. The servers were genuinely kind and friendly in their interactions, and really went above and beyond to make sure that we are enjoying the food AND full at the end 🙏 merci beaucoup!
Appreciate the attention to my husband’s gluten allergy and making substitutions 🙏
🍷 Diverse wine selection. We scored a fantastic bottle of local pet nat orange 🍋 they have two wine pairing options (regular vs premium) and we did the regular one. The wine pairing featured a lot of interesting options, but I think we were so in love with the bottle of pet nat orange that everything else pales in comparison.
⏰ The meal too about 3-4 hours (as expected with fine dining). I think we found the breaks in between courses a tad pronounced because we were hungry 🙈😂 definitely make time for this dining experience so you can enjoy this in a relaxed state of mind.
Gluten free beer... in Canada? Very pleasant too, a few options. Nice staff. The place is modern and good for a quiet drink away from the bustle of old Montreal.
The food was excellent! They were very accommodating to the celiac in our group: they had gluten-free bread and were able to modify the dishes. We had reserved a table apart where we were very quiet. It was great.
It was my second time eating here (first time was last year). I came back because my first time was so good. I had lobster risotto both times, and both times it was delicious. Great food and great cocktails. Extensive wine list. Easily one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal! Reservations are recommended.
My only wish is if they had more gluten free dessert options.
