From ottawa to edmonton this is the best gluten-free treats I have had the pleasure to sample. As someone that became celiac at 47 the baked items are legit and so are the staff.
Incredible gluten free (and often vegan) breads and sweets. The sourdough bread was incredible toasted with peanut butter. The tigernut cookie was a crunchy treat. And the chocolate raspberry Sammie was incredible. We came back a second time in our trip for bread to take to Jasper. So grateful to have found Food in the Nud!
Visiting from Calgary and stopped by Remedy Café for their gluten-free options. The staff assured me food prep is safe for celiacs, with a separate prep area, toaster, and utensils. Tried the coconut chicken wrap on a GF wrap, Punjabi style — absolutely flavorful and filling. Saved half for later! Great experience and will definitely be back.
Shoutout to the server for being knowledgeable of gluten free practices and a stellar recommendation for my wrap!
Against All Grain Benny was by far the best eggs benedict I’ve ever had. Got the spicy hollandaise and it was just the right mild spice. The Brussel sprouts were sweet, carmelized and pure perfection. Vegan and gluten free which was perfect. I will be back to try other vegan GF items.
Always delicious and fresh, fast service. A true gem .
(Last months visit)
Today's visit. After waiting a month to return here with my family, I am very let down .
I need to amend my review from 5 stars to 2 to reflect on today's visit. I had an awful experience by Greg, the owners son. We were treated poorly and without respect at all. How embarrassing to be argued with in front of the entire café. After explaining to him about the foods quality and taste, I was treated as though I was not being truthful. I asked for a 1/2 gluten-free turkey sandwich with everything but tomatoes and lettus and a cup of soup. The food was brought out it was a whole sandwich. I mentioned that i only ordered 1/2 and then was told after it came out that "they don't do 1/2 sandwiches for gluten-free bread," and there were no sprouts. (Instead of letting me know when I ordered) I took one bite and couldn't even eat it as it was dry and the turkey meat was a large amount of dark, bruised meat and a tiny bit of white where it wouldnt even stay on the bread, in comparison to my last visit where it was the best sandwich I ever had, I was very disappointed and let down today. Also, for being charged $32 for a breakfast for my mom and sister it was cold and over priced for 3 eggs and 8 pieces of meat, cold potatoes and dry toast.
Also, none of the kitchen staff were wearing hair nets or gloves, and I witnessed one cook wipe his nose with his finger and then on his apron. 🤢
The other 2 staff members we encountered were kind and polite.
I am absolutely sad to be treated with such rudeness after I've been visiting this café for years off and on and being a paid, returning customer.
I am still in shock as to how Greg treated me today, so upset and left hungry.
They are not careful when it comes to correctly labeling and preparing for dietary needs. I have Celiacs Disease and due to them giving me a regular bagel with the written label of a "gluten free" I'm now experiencing agonizing symptoms. Luckily I won't die, but if you have any allergies DO NOT GO TO THIS REMEDY. Could you imagine if it was a nut allergy?! Do better.
We really enjoyed our meal here from the food to the atmosphere to the service. At first, we were disappointed with the menu since they have limited gluten-free options. It would be so easy for them to get a good quality vegan/gluten-free bread – – perhaps from”Food in the Nud” nearby — and be able to offer a gluten-free option for the sandwich and tomato soup combo and the veggie burger combo, both items that we hoped to try.
We ended up very happy with our selection, however, and shared the gluten-free pancakes, which were Matcha/lemon/blueberry and the vegan omelette. Both had incredible flavor profiles, were cooked to perfection, and you could tell they were made with quality ingredients. We are so grateful to have found this restaurant during our visit to Edmonton.
Cozy cafe and used book store has a sort of Harry Potter vibe... but it needs more seating. Can get crowded with no seating at peak times 3-5pm. Plenty of drink options and some gluten free snacks available. I come here often. Milk alternatives like soy and almond for the lactose or casein intolerant. Few parking spots behind and more directly across the road.
This is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants out there. Such a great vegan menu and everything is labeled vegan/gluten—free to help diners quickly decide what to order. The food is so fresh and flavourful! And the owners are absolutely delightful. My husband left his gloves and 6months later when we went to eat, the owner remembered us and brought out the gloves to return to my husband! Unreal service. Highly recommend their Pho. Vegan “beef” sate, coconut seafood soup, etc. So good. It is a large enough establishment that you can eat with a larger party and they can fit you in (it is our go-to for multiple families to join together for birthdays, etc).
The best ever! Im celiac and its such a struggle finding restaurants with good food that fit my dietary restrictions, and AUM cafe hits ALL the marks! I highly recommend their butter chicken with rice! All their curries are gluten free i believe and they all taste great! They have cakes and loaves that are GF as well! The staff here are amazing, they all treat you so kindly and love to interact with their customers, its so refreshing to see especially in this day and age. I love this place and I'll always come back to them when im in need of a meal! Wish they were open longer!!!
A Celiac Foodie's Dream! The food here is outstanding - chef Joseph goes above and beyond. It is such a treat to have delicious, local, farm-to-table style dishes that are also created with a knowledgeable kitchen and staff. Indoor/Outdoor dining is a definite plus and the ambiance is great. I regularly crave the Poutines and the GF Brownie, although every item here is a hit.
We booked 4 for high tea (3 adults, 1 child). Firstly the actual food is delicious so, get takeaway pastries and enjoy. Don’t waste your money on high tea.
The three stars is for the following reasons:
1. They only book in multiples of 2, and there is so pricing for children.
2. No dietary substitutions are allowed ie. pork (!), celiac (!) etc.
3. The cost for a table of 4 is $231, which is steep.
4. The service is sub par - nothing special or customer focused. No explanation or description of items etc.
5. You don’t pick the tea, It’s only cream of Earl Grey.
Conclusion, if you want to feel pampered and special as you should when shelling out $231 dollars, go to the Fairmont. It’s not that much more and at least it’s worth it. I felt robbed at Art of Cake. :/
Fantastic experience! I've seen photos online about this place and it's exactly how it looks! A wide array of toys for all ages, stages, and abilities. Staff was beyond helpful and kind. It's a little bit cozy when you have different age groups in the same play time, more due to size and ability differences but that's to be expected when we're talking children; It's just something to be aware of. For example, older kids running through while younger ones may be less steady or on the floor. Again, to be expected with the range of children - just awareness.
The food was good, too! Great variety offered and as a person with a lot of food issues, they were excellent at making me feel comfortable in being safe there. They offer a lot of dairy free and gluten free options and I think some vegan as well! Huge coffe/bevvie menu with quick and efficient service. Price matches the amount of food provided.
Overall, Sweet Pea Cafe is excellent all around - Concept/execution, staff friendliness, food/drink, and the most amazing part: CLEAN!!!
Thank you for a great morning.
The staff are helpful and kind (and also always have amazing sense of style), the neighbourhood is cute, great place to stop for an iced coffee or lunch with a friend.
Some gluten free options are available.
Such a lovely place with a lovely atmosphere and the owner is an absolute delight! So grateful to have a nearby shop that caters to dietary restrictions- being gluten, dairy and refined sugar free can sometimes be tricky but this place always has so much to choose from. I really appreciate that all their ingredients are printed on their packaging and that they use whole foods and pure ingredients. Everything is organized to perfection, it's really easy and not too overwhelming at all to shop here. Even their website is awesome and simple to use. Not to mention they offer delivery for a very reasonable price, and even free if you spend a certain amount. I am obsessed with the mushroom gravy, vegan maple glazed meatballs and garlic mashed potatoes and am always excited to try something new each time I go. I also love that they have items from other vendors, like so many goodies from Food In the Nud, vegan cheesecake from The Raw Chef (it'll change your life) and the to die for "Hear me Raw" peanut butter cups. Absolutely recommend Good Stock! Truly a gem.
Absolutely love the macarons from here - I get some for my birthday every year! I'm celiac and they've never made me sick - gluten free friendly!

Absolutely delicious cupcakes. They have great gluten free and vegan options. They also make celebration cakes. Good location of the shop. The service was outstanding. Very friendly staff.
Very cute spot with some cute pottery for sale. Decent prices with dairy free options for beverages.
Not sure the gentleman behind the till understood the difference in vegan and gluten free though as I was offerred something gluten free when I said vegan and had to confirm a few times no eggs, or dairy and I'm not convinced what I ordered was without dairy and eggs.
Otherwise cute spot and polite staff.
Excellent food, if you come here you have to try the brussel sprouts. They are fantastic.
Server did a great job and took allergy concerns seriously and was able to make a substitution for us.
It's expensive, but worth it for a nice night out or a special occasion.
Lots of gluten friendly options.
I had Old Beverly Cafe cater my wedding this past weekend, and I highly recommend them! We went with their full-service option, and they provided the most beautiful settings of antique dishes and silverware, not to mention delicious food. Two weeks out from the event, we were able to confirm things down to the last detail, and day-of their team arrived on time and were perfectly punctual. Also, they were extremely accommodating of dietary considerations (we had several vegan and gluten-free guests). They also were able to last-minute add a selection of sparkling wine, which I really appreciated.
If you are looking for a high tea style meal catered, I would highly suggest you consider Old Beverly for the task. Thank you to Rachel and the others at the Cafe who helped make the day so special!

I've been here twice and ordered a gluten free pizza. Bar none the best gluten free pizza I have ever had in a restaurant. In my opinion, the crust tasted and had the same consistency/texture as regular pizza crust. The Amore la Carne pizza is awesome!
One of my favorite restaurants in town, without a doubt! During our recent visit, my entire family, including my daughter who suffers from severe Celiac Disease (severe gluten allergy), dined there. Unfortunately, my daughter ordered the kimchi soup and found it unpalatable. However, the restaurant's exceptional customer service truly shone through as they graciously waived her bill and promptly replaced her meal. The best part was that she didn't experience any adverse reactions after the meal. A definite win!
Living with a gluten allergy can be incredibly challenging, given the pervasive presence of gluten in various foods like bread, soy sauce, and soups. Those with this allergy can suffer from stomachaches or even severe reactions for weeks if exposed. It's heartening to see this restaurant take food allergies so seriously, and I continue to adore their cuisine!
My favorite local Edmonton coffee shop. Have gluten free sandwiches plus they brew amazing coffee. Went here all throughout University and now come back post grad.
Not many gluten free options. I Had the Matcha Latte with a gluten free biscotti. The latte was as good as anywhere else and the only gluten free stuff they had was bread for a sandwich, a breakfast roll and the biscotti. Also I asked for my latte in a mug to stay and he gave it in a paper cup, so I had to ask twice but he fixed it quickly no problem; very friendly. They have a long counter facing the window designed for laptops and students but it seems like they gave up and lined it with plants, because I had to move a plant to make space for my laptop 💻, I like plants but maybe some hanging ones or have some bigger ones on the ground. There was also cold air blowing up from the vents below, but it might have just been where I was sitting.
🚗 All paid parking. Why business don't petition the city to have free parking is beyond me, they lose untold number of customers who don't want to deal with the parking...it's a problem when my parking costs more than my lattee. And Ide rather than money went to the business, not the city.
💲 Prices were reasonable for that part of the city with my latte and biscotti coming to about $9. But when you add in the parking cost, it comes out to about the same as the more expensive places.
I only really care about ambience and quality espresso coffee. Great European feel, and the best espresso I’ve had visiting Edmonton. I’ve been at least every second day while I’m here. I don’t eat sugar or gluten so haven’t eaten anything here.
The AC is set too cold. So I recommend taking your visit outdoors to their patio.
I found this place using Google. We were not disappointed. They converted a house into a small Cafe. There is plenty of seating outside when the weather is nice. Very reasonably priced, and they were able to accommodate my need for gluten free.
Unique interior and authentic Italian feel. The chai latte I got was good and a bit sweet for my liking but I think it was the oat milk that added to the sweetness (got to avoid the lactose in cow's dairy). Dined in - Seating was interesting with 2 4 seater tables spaced next to a large strip of side by side tables in the middle (I sat at), a small bar style section facing the window with elevated seats, ok for students with laptops but crowded, Probably because it was pretty busy around 3pm, but it died down by the time we were leaving, when I took the pictures. Also had another area with high bar style seats and booth style seating. Not sure if I'd go here to study during peak hours, because there isn't really enough separation and it's pretty loud - It would have to be quiet during slow hrs. Lots of tasty food, icecream and an assortment of cafe drinks, so plenty to choose from. Didn't notice any gluten free options, but yea they do have dairy alternatives. Plenty of parking, not an issue and the cashier seemed nice enough 👍 and delivered drinks to our table. I grew up going to an Italian cafe and playing foosball...so overall it felt authentic and italian 🇮🇹 I would probably go again just to try the food and see if it's good. The person I went with got a quesadilla which she seemed to enjoy.
I like this cafe, it is so atmospheric and cozy. Coffee and desserts are tasty and they also have gluten-free options. Every Thursday they have live music so the vibe is unforgettable. Really recommend this place!

First time visiting today, and I was so happy we did. Staff were all really nice.
Coffee was amazing - I had an iced strawberry latte (seasonal offering), and my husband had a latte.
I also had a gluten-free dessert, I believe it was called a Match-O. Oh my lord, it was good. Couldn't believe it was gluten-free.
There's a lot of seating inside the cafe, but there's also outside seating on the patio. I like the patio seating, and you can still hear the cafe playlist outside. The music was nice, loud enough to hear but quiet enough to carry on a conversation. They also played Tame Impala, nough' said 😎
One of the staff who works in the kitchen was so nice and chatted with us about the food made there. She also cleared our cups and plate.
There is some street parking that's free, which is added bonus.
I want to visit again, especially with summer around the corner, and chill on the patio with some awesome coffee.
I'm sitting here right now. My friend got a gluten free sandwich. She says it's the best gluten free bunnaues ever had. I got a breakfast sandwich. The pub piggy and we got a couple spiced latest. This food is some of the most delicious we've ever had. Owner and staff are super nice and friendly. So glad we stopped by!
