We simply asked Google's Gemini for a place in Mobile that has good gluten-free options. We drove up from Orange Beach for the day because it was Misty and overcast. This is a quaint little restaurant in downtown Mobile that has good gluten-free choices and really good service. They don't have a specific gluten-free menu but they know how to make accommodations. The best gluten-free hamburger bun we've ever eaten in 15 years of being gluten free.
First let me say, Sarah C. was one of the best servers I have ever had in Mobile, Alabama. She was knowledgeable, kind, and helpful! As someone with Severe Celiac, I don't often feel safe eating out, but she reassured me and made sure my food was cooked properly and I did not get sick!! (which is a HUGE win for me!) Sarah was incredibly personable and treated me with kindness and respect. In future visits, I will be asking to sit in her section because she took such great care of me. It was so reassuring to know that she has people in her life with celiac, which just boosted my confidence in her abilities and knowledge!
I enjoyed my first time here. We were seated quickly, our server was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was pleasant. I had the oyster scramble and juice. My friend loved the gluten free French toast. A very nice experience.
I go here for breakfast sometimes when I go in to work early. They have a large breakfast menu. Cool thing is they have gluten free pancakes and sugar free syrup upon request. My wife loves the GF pancakes. Food has always been good. Will be going back.
This place is a hidden gem in Mobile. I found them on Seed Oil Scout. It’s the only restaurant in Mobile that actually is seed-oil free! I was so excited when I found this option. The grass-fed beef is SO good. I also really enjoyed the cabbage side. I ordered a golden milk latte. It was one of the best I’ve ever had. I really appreciate the care and consideration that is put into the quality. It’s extremely rare to find, especially in this area. Please check this place out. It’s my new go-to when in town! So so good. I love the chill atmosphere as well. I am dairy and gluten-free, and really enjoyed. There’s something for everyone. Support places like this that actually care about quality.
Never had any place as if I had a gluten allergy or preference and then make up my burger with a gluten-free bun after I said preference that was so nice of them!
Looks like they recently converted from a food truck to a restaurant location! The food was so so tasty. The guys working were super sweet. We loved the sea moss smoothie. So creamy, but not heavy. The mac and cheese was made with chick pea noodles, so it was gluten free and our daughter could eat it. Very special food.
Incredible food, customer service and it’s super cute right by the fort Conde inn. The brunch / breakfast was incredible and the night before we had steaks for dinner. Our server was wonderful. We can’t wait to go back ! I’m gluten free and they had many options for me that made me feel like I may be cheating haha. According to my husband the gluten FILLED options were incredible too.
This is a great little local place to call home. We enjoyed the whole experience. They were very attentive to my dietary restrictions. (No gluten or dairy)
I used to live in Mobile a little over 10 years ago. My friends and I used to patronize the Spot of Tea almost every weekend. Upon a recent trip to Mobile, I saw that the Spot of Tea was reopening the same day I came back into town! I HAD to visit and it did not disappoint!
Since living in Mobile I have developed a gluten sensitivity and am now gluten free. This changes where I can eat and most importantly, what I can eat. The Spot of Tea owner, Tony Moore, overheard my questions about not having a gluten free menu. He inquired what I like to eat and directed his staff so that I had a wonderful meal. I had a bowl of grits topped with scrambled eggs and very well seasoned grilled chicken and a side of cheddar cheese. Yum!!
After our meal, Tony inquired about our satisfaction especially my gluten free option. He told me that he would be looking into ways to accommodate diners who need or want to see gluten free options. It was so refreshing to have such an attentive experience from the owner! I can’t wait to visit again! Thank you, Tony and Spot of Tea staff. If felt like old times visiting again. It was the highlight of our trip.
Tried Hummingbird Way for the first time last night, and it certainly won’t be the last time. Allan provided impeccable service. My sister has celiac, and he and the kitchen were so accommodating with her allergy , giving her a double order of the risotto so that she could have a full meal. I ordered the crab cake, and it was hands-down the best one I’ve ever had (and probably will ever have). Mark and Thomas are rockstars in the kitchen. It’s obvious to me that the team at Hummingbird Way cares about providing a unique and memorable experience to every single person that walks through the door, and that’s really special. Thank yall for the incredible meal! Already looking forward to my next visit.
