I’ve been gluten-free for over a decade, and now our 6-year-old is too—which makes finding kid-friendly GF food a real challenge. We’re from Florida and were driving to New Orleans when my husband discovered Guncles. He was so excited about it that we planned our overnight stop just so we could eat there—and wow, was it worth it!
When I say it was the best cinnamon roll I’ve ever had, I’m not exaggerating. We also grabbed some goodies to take with us: the cheddar biscuits (amazing!), the chocolate and spiced fig cake (so delicious), chocolate chip cookies (I want to buy more to give as gifts!), and their regular biscuits—which totally hit the spot.
I was so impressed. But beyond the incredible food, the owners and staff were kind, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s rare to find a place with both outstanding gluten-free treats and such heart behind it.
It was so good, we’re actually trying to swing by again today before they close to grab more to take home for ourselves and our friends!
This is a great place for a sandwich and a salad bar. We lost our Jason’s Deli at home years ago and were very excited to have lunch here. It was just as we remembered it. They have gluten free bread for sandwiches! The service was great and the place is very clean.
Place was loud due to design. Gluten free option was horrible for my wife. My daughter and my food option was OK but we took it to go. Took forever to get the food. Not going back. The strange thing is my wife had gone there for lunch awhile back with tennis friends and her food was awesome. The order we had the other night was terrible for the gluten free option. Barely any toppings and the crust was garbage.
When you have a friend with a gluten allergy you really have to get real with where you go to lunch. Clean Eatz has a real good menu with lots of good eats!
My friend had the nugget wrap and I had the blackened salmon wrap with a side of veggies. Both were very tasty! They also offer a variety of items including a “make your own bowl option.
Clean Eatz not only has a decent cafe that offers a plethora of smoothie options, but also has a decent meal plan.
I have two suggestions. One, if there is an item listed on the menu and you are out of it, tell the customer first, in case they want to make another choice. Secondly, if you advertise a veggie cup as a side item, and it’s only raw vegetables, you should either list it as so, or have your server tell the customer that out front. Some people may not want to eat raw vegetables.
The staff is great at their jobs and the atmosphere is bright and uplifting.
Yes, I would eat there again!
I have a gluten allergy, and they are so diligent about wiping down the counters and changing their gloves before preparing my sub. I am always so impressed by the customer service and willingness to go the extra mile to make sure they don't cross-contaminate my food! And the gluten free bread is SO good!
Calling All Gluten-free fans...the Med now has a wrap that is really good. Of course, most Gluten-free items aren't amazing, but with the Med's great flavor and generous portions, plus the warm veggie-medley...ohhhhh yeah baby!
