Came to Bird's Nest to catch up with friends. The atmosphere is incredible, very warm and inviting. Food and drinks were amazing, such good flavours! Normally only two skewers per serving but were kind enough to add an extra so every member of our three person party could have one. The servers were awesome, very attentive - regularly checking on water and filling glasses and taking empty plates. Excellent gluten free accomodation and understanding. Will definitely be coming back, 100%.
Great spot in James Street, luckily we were a walk in early on Sunday Morning.
Spaghetti Alla Marinara Gluten free Rigatoni one of the best we have tried.
The Carbonara was also excellent. (Perhaps a bit more bacon would have been perfect)
Lovely welcome and service, decent wines
Had the red Nativ 'Rosso Velluto' and the Villa Aix Rose, both perfect with the dishes.
Finished off with a Affogato with Liqueur which was of charts

I recently hosted a birthday lunch at Maya Mexican Restaurant for a group of 20, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience! The staff was incredibly accommodating, ensuring that all of our dietary requirements were met—from gluten-free to vegetarian and everything in between. Everyone had a fantastic time, and the food was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, making for the perfect setting to celebrate. Huge thanks to the team for going above and beyond to make sure every guest had an enjoyable and personalized experience. Highly recommend Maya for any group gatherings or special occasions!
Really nice food. Loads of gluten free options which was great. Would be cool if they had a lunch menu as you pay the same amount for lunch as if you had dinner there. Staff were friendly and the restaurant had a nice open vibe to it. Will be back for a dinner sometime.
A really cute place situated in the valley. Heaps of options for gluten free.
Food is generally amazing.
10/10 recommend the baked scallops
The arancini was a little too hard and dry
7/10 recommend the burrata (def add the prosciutto)
Lamb pappardelle was AMAZING although don't expect huge chunks of lamb, instead small bits are stirred through the pasta.
The steak was beautiful! We asked for rare and got a bit more of a blue steak, but that might be due to the thickness of the steak.
Pizza was the uncontested loser here. Very disappointing and almost a little bland. 3/10
Drinks were alright. Cocktails were good although the menu seems to have changed from what's available online. Which is a shame.
Only thing is, despite making a reservation and arriving early, we were told to wait and then forgotten.
We waited 40 minutes for our mains, so don't eat here if you're in a rush. However, staff did apologise for the delays and explained that kitchen had some delays. Staff were generally friendly but they did seem very overworked the day we went.
Overall, 7/10
While they did have ability to make several dishes gluten free, or vegetarian/vegan. It was slim pickings if you’re both. The salad I had however was quite lovely. Though I would have had more cooked veg in it than raw. Some raw veg were cut in a way it was just awkward to eat, I’m grateful I wasn’t on a first date. 😂 Lovely staff & vibe for a special date night.
Love coming here. Service great with attention to detail. I have to have gluten free and the staff were on it with great options even special made gluten free pancake (delicious) instead of the bread. My favourite is their signature raw tartare with beetroot. It’s soooo good that I could have it for dessert. Great wine and the staff knew exactly what I wanted. Menu is great. Caters for all tastes. Looking forward to next time…
We found a hidden gem when we found Reverend’s coffee cafe. We were a challenging group with gluten-free, vegan and meat eaters in our mix. This wonderful guy (pictured) took care of us and made some amazing dishes. Very kind, considerate and extremely un-Sydney, friendly service. Thanks for being so accommodating. We’ll be back
The cutest little bakery in Brisbane. Everything made here is so gorgeous I could stare at their cabinet for days. Delicious coffee and gelato too. They even have lots of gluten free goodies so no one misses out. Open late - even better 😍😍😍😍
A fun and stylish Valley pub! The vibe is local business lunch and end of day drinks meets fun night out.
🥗 I love anchovies in my Cesar salad! And here they have real anchovies on Parmesan covered crispy cos with crunchy bacon morsels.
The burger is buttermilk chicken on a gluten free bun - and the gf bun is one of the good ones!
🚗 There’s a little bit of parking for sober bae’s like me.
We had an early dinner here. There were live crabs and lobsters and coral trout in tanks at the front.
We ordered gluten free sizzling prawns, San Choi bow, Mongolian beef and pork with plum sauce. And vegetarian spring rolls
Everybody enjoyed their food a great deal. The meat was really tender and my elderly dad asked for some pineapple at the end and they brought him a little cup of pineapple.
We'd go back there.
Not suitable for coeliacs. I went in after seeing a recent Instagram post saying their fries are in a seperate fryer and seeing reviews about GF options. When I went to order I was told that they put the fried chicken in the fryer too and they only have one toaster for all buns. Disappointing but glad they were honest at least.
