Had a fabulous time here with our godson today, tried some new dishes inc the cassoulet, all were really good. Especially, though, the service was wonderful from Lilly and our greeter - it made for a super lunch. One of us is a coeliac and she was very well looked after, lots of options, good knowledge and care.
I’m a coeliac and I had a really delicious meal. It was great to chose something easily instead of risking any contamination. I hadn’t been before but would highly recommend the restaurant with good food, great customer service and colonial decor with not intrusive music. I will definitely go again.
As a Coeliac it is always hard for me to relax when dining out. But it wasn't any stress, everyone I spoke to was already aware of it from when we booked the table and they were confident that they could cater for me safely. The service was brilliant. We had a wicked night, food was superb and the atmosphere was excellent. 100% recommend A Canteen and we look forward to returning soon. Thank you
The first time l've found somewhere do gluten free toast. Small place. Comfy inside. They bother to ask you if you have allergies. Need more of these places. The toast was best it was like eating crusty bread which l miss.
Need dairy free products.
Had a lovely afternoon tea today all delicious, one of our party had gluten free and was delighted to have it on her own tiered cake stand 😁 have regularly had lunch here but first “tea” and not disappointed. As usual high standard of food and friendly service always a pleasure to eat here. Looking forward to my next visit 😋
Good place for a city centre cuppa. Offers some gluten free cakes too, which is good - better than Costa or Cafe Nero, for instance. Bit cheeky for their payment system to ask you for a tip though, given that its really only a counter serviced.
Had a lovely afternoon tea with colleagues. Savory and traditional were the main orders but we did order gluten free Celica and vegan too. Good and enough portions were served as per the menu. A variety of tea options were offered. Highly recommended for a quick and quiet afternoon tea.
Very friendly staff and the food was lovely. My wife required gluten free options and the staff was extremely helpful. Very nice atmosphere in there, always with a smile.
GAIL Chelmsford provides an extensive menu, including sweet treats, savory pastries, sandwiches, soups, salads, and hot drinks. The diversity caters to different tastes and dietary preferences, with some gluten-free and vegetarian options available. Sourdough bread, almond croissants, and cinnamon buns are particularly popular.
Staffs are friendly and approachable staff, who are attentive to customer needs and provide good recommendations.
Limited seating can lead to longer wait times during peak hours. While the bakery is centrally located, parking near the area can be challenging during rush times.
Overall GAIL Chelmsford offers a delightful experience for those who value artisanal baked goods and a stylish café environment. While it might not be the most budget-friendly option, the quality and ambiance make it a worth visiting. The café exudes a modern yet warm vibe, making it a comfortable space for casual meetups or solo coffee breaks.
