So I’ve been gluten free for a while and the bread scene is just rough…it just is! This is the best bread I’ve had! And the donut balls!!!OMG!!! I have no words! They are worth the drive from wherever you are! They come in threes because you can’t have just one! Dangerously delightful!
I’m going back tomorrow for more! Overjoyed that I found this place!
Bunner's Bake Shop in Kensington Market is a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious vegan and gluten-free baked goods. They offer a wide variety of treats, from cakes and cookies to bars and other desserts.
I was particularly keen to try their pies, but unfortunately, they were sold out by the time we arrived. This speaks to their popularity, so I'd recommend arriving early for the best selection.
Despite missing out on the pie, I was still impressed with the other options available. I especially enjoyed their date squares, which were both sweet and chewy.
Turtledoves is a great gluten-free bakery! I have Celiac disease, and they make some of the best bread I have tried. Their hazelnut chocolate croissants are also delicious. I highly recommend checking out Turtledoves — you’ll be impressed by the quality!
Winnie's has been a go to for my daughter who has Celiac. We have only purchased their desserts and she LOVES them. Maybe one day we will try some of their other food items. If you are looking for a CAKE you need to pre-order. They have various flavors available.
Ginger snap, oatmeal, and Linzer cookies were amazing!
Fruit muffin with jam filling was light, airy and filled with berries.
It’s always a wonderful surprise when a gluten-free bakery pops up unexpected in a mall you’ve never been to before. You made my day! I can’t add any photos because I ate them all so quickly.
I was told by a friend to try their gluten-free lemon tart. Initially dubious, I'm now completely enamored. The filling was perfectly tart, and the crust was crisp and buttery.

You can sprout a new love for gluten-free eats at this local cafe, and you'll hardly miss the gluten. The sandwich is as satisfying as it looks, with ingredients that come together to deliver a delicious bite where basil is the star. They also have a mini side salad, but I opted for an orange almond cake too, and the citrusy addition pairs nicely with the sweet, nutty almond base.
In my humble yet educated opinion (18 years celiac ) this is the best bakery I have ever eaten at. Great options for the dairy free and vegan eaters as well. From the ease of ordering 2 loaves of olive bread to the warm friendly atmosphere at the store my experience was perfect. I walked in expecting bread and left with so many sweet and savoury treats. Great little store for products as well. If you’re in the area for work or for a holiday and have special food needs this is the place to check out .
They had a lot of freezer items, and different shapes of gluten free pastas, which was nice to see. There were also a lot of lovely baked goods in the case.
I read that they had GF beaver tails, so that's why I came. I was excited to try my first beaver tail (newcomer to Canada). When I got it, it was slightly warm on the edges, but refrigerator-cold and damp in the middle. My partner told me they are usually fried, so it should have been piping hot. It was disappointing.
I was thinking about getting a sandwich, but overheard someone ask about getting pasta, but it would have taken 40 min for that. Surprising, since they use the dried pasta they sell to make it.
I had some questions about items, but felt dismissed and almost belittled by the answers. I was off-put by the rude tone, and combined with my disappointing menu item, won't be back.
I'm sure it's fine if you're just going for cookies or frozen goods, but some other folks and myself were wondering if someone was actually there. It took quite some time for the owner to come out from the back. Not sure if that's the norm- maybe they were short-staffed, but don't go unless you have lots of extra time to spare.
Absolutely amazing pastries! 100% gluten free, plenty of vegan options as well. Customer service was incredible. I will definitely be coming back for more!
Great small business, not many people put as much pride into there work as cal, from sourcing the best ingredients and always pushing the boundaries of gluten-free food this store embodies what all Gluten-Free products should be trying to do 👌
I'm not even gluten free. My aunt is I just get snacks for her and eat them on occasion and find they're phenomenal! 10/10 👌
The shop owner was incredibly kind and knowledgable, and we came down from another city, and gifted us with some bread to take home. Lovely shop, amazing food and so nice to be able to have gluten free treats while here!
What a treat. I live gluten-free and to be able to feed a little urge for classics like baked goods or a chicken pot pie is just wonderful. And they are sooo friendly ☺️
I live in Alberta and am newly diagnosed NCGS (non-celiac gluten sensitivity). It was really hard to find a Gluten-Free Sourdough starter near me and Marcelles’ sent me an envelope when I reached out. They were so helpful to speak with. I’m rehydrating my starter today and excited to see the progress!
We bought their gluten free ham and cheddar quiche. I'm not a quiche person but theirs was absolutely delicious and I would definitely buy more from this bakery.
Celiac friendly!!
As a celiac with a gluten and dairy allergy. There are so many different cupcakes to choose from. Absolutely incredible service and flexibility.
We have come to Thimblecakes for many engagements, parties and our wedding!
They offer a solid variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options, and it’s clearly a popular spot—it’s typically busy during peak hours. That said, the food can be quite hit-or-miss. I’ve been coming here for years and tend to stick to the same items, having tried most of the menu. Some days, the food is excellent; other times, the selection is disappointingly sparse or just not good. Occasionally, they’ll introduce a new dish that’s barely edible—or worse, come up with something incredible only to never serve it again. The inconsistency is frustrating, especially when you’re driving 20 to 30 minutes without knowing whether you'll find a great spread or a disappointing lineup. Given the higher price point, I expect more reliability. Also worth noting: the kitchen staff is consistently warm and friendly, while the front-of-house team tends to be less welcoming—which always feels a bit off.
These guys have the absolute best gluten free treats that you’ll be able to find in the Hamilton/Niagara region. They also have so many options for gluten free treats too, not just one type of cookie. They have squares, cookies, donuts, cheesecake tarts, bread and more and you can’t even tell it’s gluten free
Love it here. It’s so cozy. Lots of their little treats and baked goods are gluten free and I believe they are all vegan. Their brunch menu is good too! Very generous portions. They always play the perfect cozy calm music, you can reserve a table which I would recommend doing on the weekends. I’m the warmer months they have some patio tables out on the sidewalk to watch all the Locke street dogs walking by. The banana bread is 20/10. I also love their matcha oat latte with strawberry syrup.
Whenever I visit Ottawa, I make sure to stop here before I leave. They consistently have a good variety of delicious fresh desserts and also a frozen section of more savoury options. My friends that typically eat gluten and dairy have even said some of their desserts are better, which I totally agree with! Best Nanaimo bar selection 🤤 I think using a tad less sugar would be a bit better overall if you are trying to limit your sugar intake (I usually portion the desserts) but overall, you won’t find a better gluten/dairy free/vegan dessert bakery.
It is not at the location. It is a columbian bakery with a sign to call if you want something. For someone just passing through hamilton this put a damper on our ability to get gluten free.
I don’t normally review , but WOW. I have had a gluten intolerance for a few years now and have recently been taking it very seriously. As you can imagine it’s been hard to find things to substitute things with gluten that doesn't taste like cardboard. If your gluten free THIS IS YOUR PLACE. I had a ham panini , cupcake and brownie all gluten free. I was so delighted how fresh and yummy the bread tasted , the cupcake was just right amount of sweet with a light tasting icing. Oh gosh, perfection. I haven’t tried the brownie yet but I’m confident it’s delicious. Too bad we live an hour away, but I will 100% be returning here soon, worth the trip. Thank you 3 Sisters!
Amazing place with an incredible variety of gluten-free and dairy-free foods. There is truly something for everyone here. I also love that they're always trying new things and bringing in different items from other vendors. My personal favourite items are their mint chocolate mega cookie, original (chocolate chip walnut) mega cookie, ice cream sundaes, and then some of the vendor products they stock in their freezer (cheese sticks, croissants, etc.). The owner and other employees are also very helpful, especially in determining which allergens are present in their products. They are thorough with labelling their products, which is very appreciated!
It's a small place and very popular. I took my sister here who has a gluten allergy and she had grilled cheese with lentil bread (pictured and almost finished). She loved it and they do not skimp out on the cheese.
I had the Oaxaca sandwich which was very good and the spiciness was just right, paired with a Thai carrot soup. Coffee was good and served in a big glass mug.
We had a window view which was a bit cramped but felt alright. You see so many people come in of all ages and backgrounds. Servers were friendly, left us mostly alone and revisited when needed. Atmosphere is very local and rustic.
Met up with a pal who was vegan. I have celiac, so Bloomers was a done deal! Had a lovely flat white while I caught up with my friend and got a funfetti cookie to go! Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle... 100% would eat again!
Stumbled across this bakery when travelling with a party of 2 gluten free people, the treats were unreal! I had the vegan gf blueberry scone which was yummy and the vegan gf cinnamon scroll/bun which was absolutely unreal ! My friend had a gf brownie and cookie and loved both! Great service, lovely little store and would definitely order a cake from them in the future if i come back!
Everything about this bakery was perfection. They made us gluten free / vegan cupcakes for our engagement party and they were an absolute hit! Vegan butter cream!!! The sweetest people and best treats! Highly recommend :)
