Lost my tattoo machine and refused to refund half the cost ($54).
I am Naz, a permanent artist. I started working with Eva Beauty NY in mid-June. I rented their office in Chelsea by the hour. A week before, they inform me that they are moving to a new office. Usually such things are warned in advance, but I think it's ok.
I arrive at the office on the day of the move to collect my things - they have already packed everything of mine. They said that they will deliver all my things to the new office. I express my gratitude.
The next day I have clients scheduled, I arrive at the new office, unpack my boxes, and realize that the most important thing is missing - my tattoo machine! I have to apologize to the clients, offer them a discount and reschedule for another day. I walk around the city to the Eva Beauty offices - looking for my machine, but it is nowhere to be found.
I remember that I left it on charge (since there is no outlet in the locker, and I need the machine to be charged when I arrive). I admit that it was my mistake to leave it in the open space and accept that someone may have already taken it.
2 weeks later, Eva Beauty finds my tattoo machine and returns it to me broken. I point out that they took my machine by mistake when moving, possibly dropped it, broke it - and offer to cover 50% of the cost of the same machine ($54). They refuse, citing that they are not responsible for this, and the machine could have been "defective" "worn out".
The manager lent me her tattoo machine for a while, to which I also expressed my gratitude. When I reported that I was moving, I needed my own machine and offered to pay half, they told me "I gave you my machine, instead of gratitude, I received charges." I would like to remind you that this problem would not have existed a priori if they had not taken and broken MY perfectly working machine.
The next day the manager takes away his tattoo machine without warning. And I have a client booked. I have to cancel and ask for a refund for the subscription. Thank God they returned it!
In general, I came to them with a tattoo machine and trust, and left without a machine and without trust. I have no desire to ever work with them again. I shared my story, draw your own conclusions.
