Chicken tenders to die for fried pickles are from my dreams and they will fry anything on their menu gluten free. Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese was out of this world and I actually have teared up many times from the taste of their amazing gluten free food.
Fresh, flavorful, and gluten-free paradise! This place offers a wide variety of delicious gluten-free options that are bursting with flavor. The ingredients are fresh and the dishes are prepared with great care. It's a great option for those with gluten sensitivities or anyone looking for a healthy and tasty meal. Highly recommend!
This spot far surpassed expectations!! It was wonderful. I highly recommend the cauliflower pizza, even if you aren’t gluten free. It was warm cheese and the flavor was deep!! It was an amazing option on the menu. A gluten free delight!
There was live music and it was a really wonderful musician which added a great ambiance.
My friends also loved the shrimp and grits. I would most definitely field come back if I was visiting here again.

Delicious food. Great wait staff. They have a gluten free menu and will modify items to make them dairy free when possible. We also got some pretty cool Tshirts.
Wow. Best gluten free sub I’ve ever had. Also they have amazing gluten free cheesecakes. The key lime pie is to die for. I’ll be a regular here for a long time.
Yah nope. There was a 4.50 up charge on a 19.50 Gluten Free pie! Too expensive for me. And cauliflower crust was burnt black on edges.....doesn't do well I guess in fire oven. It's an order at counter seat yourself place. No service really.
The best restaurant on the island! Wait staff is very knowledgeable and good at managing gluten free / celiac. Loved it so much we went twice in one week. Maybe the most reasonable priced wine list I’ve seen in the last 5 years.
The ice cream is wonderful! It is so creamy and flavorful that we decided to splurge twice in one week while on vacation at Fernandina Beach. The staff was very helpful in ensuring that my daughter got a gluten-friendly option. Great service and great ice cream!
We sat outside and everything was fine at first. We ordered two dishes- one being gluten free. After about 30 minutes our server came to us apologizing for the wait on our food and that it would be out in 5 minutes, we said all good we understand.
While waiting for our food we found there was food stuck on the silverware that was given to us.
After nearly an hour we decided to leave because we were so hungry. We went up to one of the servers at the front and showed him the dirty fork and he said “it’s fine” and took it away like it was no big deal. He told us the GF pasta can take almost an hour (for real?). No one apologized for anything. We asked for a manager several times and were told there was no manager there, the staff was super rude and unhelpful, and didn’t care at all that we were waiting a very long time for our food and also were given dirty silverware. They didn’t try at all to get us stay either!
I would not recommend this place at all and we won’t be coming back
My wife and I were searching for a good place to eat in the Fernandina Beach Fl area, We had lunch at Down Under . They serve gluten free food choices, and we had a great time and the food was great also.
We were honored to have Michelle as our waitress, she was very helpful with the order and made us feel so welcomed to be there.
We enjoyed our visit! Thanks!
Super fun bar and restaurant on the ocean! The live music was very entertaining and the fact they have a kids playground makes it amazing! Wish they had some healthier food gluten free options..buts its a bar what can you expect. Id highly recommend coming here if you want a place to relax and listen to music and have your kids be entertained:)
Great atmosphere with 2 different outdoor sitting areas and inside dining available. Chipmunks and birds are in the trees around making a fun experience for outdoor enthusiasts.
My party picked this place with their gluten free menu options, as their are not too nay options in the area. (I don't just want pizza or pasta gluten free menu). I came twice through the week due to the lack of options.
First day, I had a hamburger on gluten free bread, and the bread versus a bunch was disappointing. Doesn't really give it the same culinary touch. The taste was OK overall, they will only cook hamburgers all the same, not able to get medium rare, etc. My favorite part was the side house salad. Very fresh and a variety of mix ins, and a delicious vinegarette.
Second time, I had a chicken sandwhich which was just OK also. Again, the read versus a bunch is too thin for everything on it and doesn't work well, but better than just a Lettuce wraps for sure. The dandwhich had good flavor overall and I enjoyed more than the burger.
Upcharge for gluten free bread $2 and side salad $4 instead of potato salad. Which makes the meal more than I'd prefer. Swaps for true allergies and medical issues shouldn't cost the person more to not get sick.

Well done Italian, great server and a quality food makes me write this post. Our young server from main was very attentive and sensitive to ny daughters gluten allergies. Decanting our wine was a nice touch.
*Review from three months ago that I put on Yelp but not Google.*
Joanna, Joanna, Joanna, what a GREAT server! She was attentive, friendly, sociable. My husband and I stopped by here while on vacation to Florida, as he used to come when he was growing up. We ordered two bottles of Riesling wine, which is my favorite, but of course we never got to drink the second one so we got to bring it home. I ordered a fried chicken tender salad, and my husband ordered salmon with French fries…but here’s the shocker…my husband NEVER eats salmon if it’s farm raised, but our server, Joanna, convinced him to try it so he did and he LOVED it. We also ordered the gluten free chocolate torte for dessert and despite my husband saying he didn’t want it, he ended up eating most of it! Great food, and great service! Highly recommend.
Amazing... fully catered to gluten and dairy allergy with many options. Breakfast sandwich was stellar with fresh prosciutto and sourdough bread. Potatos were perfectly done and seasoned. Alec and the chef came out and walked us through the menu, amazing service! Don't sleep on this place! Highly recommended
Still my favorite sandwich chain though I’ve now gone gluten free. They have gluten free sandwich rolls which I appreciate though they (like almost every gluten free bread) are very dry so you’ll want tuna salad or lots of “juices” if you go that route. People there are always friendly and professional.
Fernando has become like family! Always amazing food, especially the specials. They are always able to accommodate for my husband who has to have a gluten free diet.
I can't believe someone can give 4 stars to this place. Everything is gorgeous - the inside and a stunning view outside, the food is delicious, the assortment is huge, there are lots of gluten-free options, and the service is excellent! 5 stars only!
Excellent food for dine in or takeout. The restaurant is immaculate and has a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful when you do not know what to order. They have a vegan sauce that is gluten free and can be pretty much used for any dish. This is helpful if you have any dietary restrictions. Ample parking in front of the building.
Amazing dinner at Burlingame! I have a gluten and dairy allergy and the staff worked with the chef to recommend what courses I could have. I ended up with the best steak and frites I’ve ever eaten, seriously, the fries are so deliciously crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. The prices are reasonable for such an amazing fine dining experience. Excellent cocktail and wine list too.
I was so excited after reading the reviews for their gluten free cookies and brownies! I went inside and all they had baked were macaroons and a heavy chocolate torte. 2 items out of the whole store were gluten free. So disappointed.
Delicious GLUTEN-FREE wraps! The ginger chicken wrap is especially good, and accompanying mixed green salad with balsamic dressing is extra yummy🙂
When the weather is nice, the new outdoor patio is a great addition.
Food that i have ordered leans towards a little over cooked however, I have observed that is the southern way. Some gluten free items so I can return. Wish they had more gluten free and organic selections. Very convenient and busy at times.
The servers were the best!
I have a gluten sensitivity. My waitress listened and made the best suggestions. While I am aware there is a risk of cross contamination, they did their best to accommodate me. They went above and beyond!
Shrimp was delicious. Sweet potato was great. And the service was even better! Kept drinks topped off all the time.
Great atmosphere!
Location is amazing 😍. Food is great, Love the pizza and burgers. My husband who is Celiac is thrilled that he can have she crab soup which is unusual to find. They also have a gluten-free pizza he can have. We love the servers there. They're awesome, it just takes forever to get the food so don't go there if you're in a hurry.
This was my second time dining at The Tavern and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite spots for dinner in the Fernandina area.
I came here on a Wednesday (early evening) with a party of four. We were sat immediately and our server, Carrie, was wonderful! She checked in on us often, was attentive and very friendly. Definitely in the top best service I’ve had in the area.
I had the drink of the week, a blackberry spritzer. It was light and refreshing. Not too strong. My entree was the 318 Chicken Sandwich with tavern fries. The chicken was nicely breaded (slightly dry). But the hot honey, pimento cheese, and red pepper jelly/relish all paired well with each other and gave just enough moisture that I barely noticed. It reminded me of a hot chicken sandwich you’d get in Nashville. The tavern fries were fluffy and very crispy (just how I like them)! Meal was a solid 9/10!
I couldn’t help but have dessert and decided to go with the gluten-free chocolate torte. It was extremely rich and creamy. It was served with a slightly salty foam that cut the richness perfectly to keep it from being too sweet. As you can see, we dug right in and finished it in minutes - haha. 10/10!
Overall a relaxed and fun atmosphere, wonderful service, and great food. Can’t recommend this spot enough and will be coming back soon to dine again!
