This is a long due review since I live in Shelter Cover and have been to Gyppo multiple times. Honestly, if it was for my children we would dine there everyday! They brew many delicious beers (I like lighter beers, and my latest favorite is the Beach because it has a very low gluten content. I also enjoy the Mexican Lager, and some special editions such as the She, Raspberry, and others). I also like that they carry Kamboucha on tap, local wines, tea, coffee, ah, and my kids are hooked on their root beer and limeade. The food is also very delicious and they often include fresh seasonal plates such as wild salmon during the fishing season and their classic dishes never disappoint. I keep meaning to try new dishes but the hamburger and the falafel burger are always so good that they are hard to pass up. My children love their fish and chips, pizza, and hotdog. As for their homemade desserts, I am specially fond of the lime key pie and the freshly made ice creams. I am also thankful for their support of local non-profits through fundraisers. They also put a great effort into organizing fun events for the entire family, from a fresh hops festival, Easter brunch with egg hunt, Oktoberfest, pumpkin carving, yoga, painting, local bands, trivia night. Hmm, it seems that there is always something fun happening at Gyppo. Perfect place to sit back and relax with a beautifully view, yummy beer and food. I feel very lucky to live in Shelter Cove and only 5 minutes away from Gyppo!

J Cafe - A Great Spot for Coffee and a Bite! I recently stopped by J Cafe for a quick coffee and sandwich, and I was thoroughly impressed. The staff was incredibly friendly and more than willing to accommodate my dietary restrictions. I must say, the cappuccino with coconut milk was delicious—one of the best I’ve had in a while! I also ordered a Reuben with pastrami, and even though I asked to exclude the Swiss cheese and replace the rye bread with a gluten-free option, it still tasted fantastic. The food and service at J Cafe are top-notch. Definitely worth a visit!

They have a great view of the ocean, from inside or some outdoor seating. They serve breakfast all day, which works for me. I had gluten free eggs Benedict, yum! They have delicious coffee from their coffee bar. We enjoyed our breakfast while watching the ocean waves and the seals at play.

Picture this: a rainy day on the Lost Coast of California. You wander into a little restaurant with windows looking out at the sea. You are greeted warmly and shown to a table. Within moments you are sipping a fabulous bar-made sangria and pursuing the menu. Your celiac husband is in the restroom, so you take the chance to explain it is your anniversary and ask if there is anything gluten free on the menu. Everything in the menu that night is gluten free!! We started with empanadas with a dipping sauce. Perfection. Then the Pabellon Criollo with rice and beans and tostones. Finished with flan with a caramel sauce. Every bite was a treat. Every minute a pleasure. Sure it’s 10 hours from our house. But we will be going back!
