Terrible food, otherwise a nice pub. Pie pastry showed they were obviously microwaved (soggy/squishy pastry), maybe the chef was away/busy (was very packed though so maybe just a bad day). Chips were also greasy/soggy and gluten free burger was like a hockey puck (although to be fair most vegan/gf burgers are).

8/8 bells! We had an outstanding time at the Eight Bells after a 10K walk along the South Downs. The service was immaculate with all servers smiling and attentive, the atmosphere was lovely and they were incredibly accommodating when the weather turned a little chilly, and kindly moved us inside. Now onto the food… as someone with a gluten allergy, I am always a little apprehensive, but wow, the menu has loads of options, including the best gluten & dairy free fish and chips, I have ever tasted! I was even able to have a GF ale alongside, followed by chocolate ganache, so I certainly didn’t feel like I was missing out. Incredibly attentive, warm & organised staff - thank you to Taylor our server & Phil. We’ll see you again very shortly!

such a gorgeous lunch today in spite of the cold wind on the downs, this lunch stop a haven with the loveliest food, and they were very efficient at getting people seated even though it's small. Gluten free no problem. by the time we left there was a queue forming. No wonder, we loved it. we had avo and humus on seeded bread toast with grilled vine tomatoes and pomegranate molasses, plus a roasted beetroot salad and a cheese scone that was recommended by someone just leaving when we arrived. Great tea selection also.!! priced as expected and worth every penny!

Hidden gem worth a stop off, lovely gardens, parking, and most importantly amazing selection of cakes including gluten free + dairy free / vegan options - all were delicious. GF sandwiches and sausages usually available too although didn’t try these today. Friendly customer service when let us in a little late close to closing time and still happily sorted us with cake and tea. Lovely.
