Fantastic seafood in a lovely pier-side location with views over the bay. Great cakes and well-catering for gluten-free and celiac guests, thanks to separate fryers.

Popped in early on a Friday and managed to get a table. We enjoyed the food (gluten free options available) and our waiter was fantastic. The only negative was the buffalo cheese and tomato salad that was pricey for what it was.

Food and drink gem in Swanage. With the best views, undoubtedly, and the most varied and value for money menu in the town I have nothing but praise for seventh wave. Ok, it’s a cafe in style, you order at the bar and collect your own tap water from a plastic jug. But, it’s everything you need. The selection of lunch specials always includes dietary variety and something with real care for flavour which makes this a better time to visit than breakfast, which is admittedly very basic fare (investing in some high quality local sausages would seriously elevate the offering). Speaking of local, yes, there’s booze. Reasonable wines and an amusingly confusing draft combination: Dorset Gold (an ale) and Purbeck Gold (a cider). Ask for a pint of ‘gold’ to experience the lucky dip. Cake and a pint makes a great end to a walk up at the park, and these are good cakes. Not the dried up over-iced slabs of cafes-gone-by. Often there are too many to choose from, even if you’re gluten free, or vegan. Predictably busy on gorgeous walking days during the lunchtime rush but there’s usually room. Outside has much less of a canteen feel, so bring a coat.
