Excellent, small, busy restaurant just up from the river, we sat outside on a warm evening. When I asked about gluten free, I was given a gluten free menu with several options, which was so wonderful to see. I chose a delicious tuna with sweet potato mash and asparagus, my partner had beautiful seafood risotto. I'd suggest booking in the summer, although we were lucky and got an outside table.

I emailed them about my allergies and about cross contamination and they emailed back "Hello Paulina. Thank you for opting to dine with us. Yes , we will tend to your allergies. We have a lot of options for you to choose from. Right from our tapas , main course and desserts.  Now we are small restaurant  , with the kitchen being smaller. We do our best to tend to your client's needs , however we can't 100% guarantee that there won't  be cross contamination.  We do not use coconut milk and peanuts. But we do use walnuts.  If you would like to make a reservation , please head over to " The Fork" and make your reservation. We request that you also mention about your allergies so we can tend to you in the best way possible. Looking forward to having you dine with us. Have a lovely day.  Kind Regards ,   Noel."

We spent three days in Porto and went for two to eat. The pizzas are very good. My celiac son said that the gluten free pizza is the best he had ever eaten. And Carol alone deserves a 5-star review, very good service, very patient with my 3 children, who are very active, I get them some blocks to play with and charming.

I was so looking forward to come to this place, after having been to other Jose Avillez restaurants. This one was such a disappointment! The service was bad from start to finish, started off with a grumpy lady waiter that couldn’t be bothered to wait for us to choose, even though we had a coeliac child and needed to make sure what was ordered was safe. We were then served by another waiter, but it turns out half our order was already sent to the kitchen. Our food came in different times and the steak was cold. Two starters ordered first arrived after the main meals and again( one of them was cold. We sent the steak back, but everyone else had eaten their meal by the time it returned without even an apology. I think Jose Avillez should ensure the standard of his restaurants remain high, otherwise people will come out disappointed and write reviews similar to the recent ones here.
