There were new planters for outside, creating a divide between them and other restaurants and this caused a problem for wheelchairs. However, staff were quick to come out with a ramp and an apology. Plenty of wheelchair space inside and accessible toilet. Great range of meals and a separate veggie/vegan and a gluten free one too.
Best gluten free and vegan option. We are vegan and we know we will find great options. My spouse is coeliac and we always enjoy eating extremely tasty food. We had the green pho soup-delicious and the lunch special with the curry dish-delicious too. Shirley and Rory were our helpful and friendly servers today.
I had picked our hotel in Liverpool for a long weekend break partly due to it's proximity to the Free State Kitchen and it's rave reviews. So relieved it did not disappoint.
Had the double French Onion burger which was the best burger I've had in my life (with some tough competition in the US and Spain), which is extra difficult these days as I developed Coeliac disease in the last few years. My wife had the Macaroni Cheese which was good, but also the Chocolate Brownie which was (also) the best she's ever had.
So fantastic and refreshing to see food that is so often underrated in the UK as cheap fast food staples be prepared with fantastic ingredients by people who really care about what they are doing. Service was great as well.
When we're next back in Liverpool, this is now a mandatory stopover for us!
Really nice visit to this after a meander down Bold Street. The food was great - I ended up having their soup, and the latte was great too. Chilled vibes, and such a wide selection of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. Reasonably priced too, with local artists’ artwork on display for sale too.
Only downside is it’s two floors up via a staircase, so if you have limited mobility or are wheelchair bound, I’m not sure how you’d get there (unless there’s a lift I missed!)
Really recommend giving them a visit - roughly a 10 minute walk from the Lime Street station.
This cafe was so good that we went 3 days in a row while visiting Liverpool. Very tasty dishes, no matter what we ordered. Catered incredibly well for gluten intolerance. Really friendly and helpful staff, and nice atmosphere. I’ll miss those poached veggs!

We came yesterday to have a dinner in during visiting Liverpool.
Our waiter Cris was very attentive and friendly also had a good knowledge about menu ( vegan and gluten free).
My son was super happy with children portions.
And the cherry on top was delicious latte ( made by Marina ) I am very picky with coffee and very often weak coffee can destroy all nice experience in restaurant but not this time.
That was brilliant!
Along with the Bold Street branch, the best place to eat in Liverpool, hands down. The Albert Dock branch staff are particularly lovely. Caters for gluten and dairy free folk too.
Used to be amazing but has really gone down hill
Was disappointed when they removed most of the veg options from the menu inc salsa and guac but still occasionally visited even as quality declined. Not anymore.
My most recent order included gluten free gravy and it was absolutely disgusting, I’d have preferred no gravy. It was a weird jelly like texture. Not edible.
Not sure if the issue was the temperature as the food was luke warm at best.
The cheese also was not great and wasn’t melted.
Felt like I was eating day old food.
My partner ordered regular gravy and was also unhappy with the quality of their food.
Won’t be returning, it’s just not worth the price even at the best of times.
Great family celebration dinner at Lunyalita. Everything tasted yummy and service was good. Loads of gluten free options. Shout out to Mikey who looked after us particularly well, nothing too much trouble. Particularly grateful for the extra care he took to ensure my meal was coeliac safe - this means so much; I could enjoy my food without the usual worry! Thank you!
We came for breakfast and it was gorgeous. Savannah served us and she was fab. Service was quick and lovely. Lovely atmosphere and great for gluten free!
The rewards for walking up the long flight of stairs up to Rococo are more than worth it. Beautiful breakfasts, coffees and cakes. Service is friendly and efficient, and everything tastes fresh and delicious. There are lots of different sofa, table and high stool seating options spread over two floors. A lovely setting to have a coffee break or something more substantial. Meat and veggie menu with gluten free bread options for the sandwiches
Really good for gluten free and coeliac disease even the drinks they considered with cross contamination, really positive experience here, highly recommend
Went on spec, on the basis of earlier reviews and it was such excellent vegetarian food that we went again with our daughter the next night. She has gluten intolerance and was brought a special menu from which to choose. Excellent, wish we lived nearer!
Went in on Friday. Very disappointing to find 11 cakes on display, however no gluten free options available. Seems to happen quite frequently, always seems to "sold out!"
Just opposite Liverpool Lime Street station. We wanted a quick coffee and snack after travelling on the train and were very impressed with the cafe. My husband had a croissant and coffee whilst I had a gf chocolate brownie and tea with oatmilk. Very generous portions and tasty food.
The staff were lovely and great atmosphere in the cafe; clearly a really popular venue.
Would definitely revisit; highly recommended!
Update: I’m back 6 months later on a quick visit to Liverpool; where else would I go for a brunchy lunch?
I had 2 perfect poached eggs on gluten free toast, beautifully cooked and very tasty too!

Beautiful place gorgeously decorated. Service was exceptional - always there right when we wanted something and yet never obtrusive. We had afternoon tea to celebrate our daughter’s graduation, and the team made us feel very special. I need gluten and lactose free dishes, and the chefs really pushed the boat out to cater for me 😊
Served by Caitlin and team June 6th. Lovely and attentive service. Really appreciate the choice of gluten free food! Best selection we have seen and tried!
Amazing evening.
FOOD: On the mid - expensive end of the spectrum but worth every penny. My wife is gluten free and they did amazing things without gluten (the fish and chips was astounding).
STAFF: Just lovely from start to finish. They look for ways to make it special for you.
DRINKS: Amazing cocktails.
TOILETS: I don't usually comment on toilets but go to the toilet and you'll find out why.
Went with a group of friends. Food excellent. Knowlegeable about gluten free and cross contamination which was so reassuring for someone with Coeliac disease.
A lovely little bistro style cafe
Came here for a quick coffee and cake with my mum. The interior is really inviting, beautifully decorated and furnished. We sat in some lovely comfy chairs.
We browsed the menu and the lovely waitress came over. I had an iced latte and my mum tried their fresh orange juice.
We also chose a cake each, I got the Nutella smore and my mum order a gluten free coconut cake.
Drinks and cakes came in very good time and we were both super happy. The cakes were so delicious! It’s a good thing I don’t live close by!
They also had a bistro menu which sounded delicious and we were a bit gutted we weren’t more hungry! Hopefully next time!
I came in for a smoothie today and was not disappointed.
I'm coeliac and vegan, so I have some restraints on what I can and can't eat. I asked the staff if the vegan protein was gluten free and they really went out of their way to double check that it was safe for me to consume.
The smoothie was absolutely incredible, well worth the money and I'll most likely be back ASAP.
I cannot thank the staff enough for being so lovely and helpful, highly recommend to everyone!
Hands down the best place on the lane, gorgeous food, gorgeous coffee, gorgeous staff and gorgeous vibes. It’s always so welcoming and friendly and so so busy which says it all !! Even when busy the staff are always polite and try their best to accommodate everyone. For the coeliacs among us, there is a dedicated gluten free menu as well, so I always feel safe eating there. 10/10 really!
