I will start with the good things: I appreciate the gluten free wrap for burritos and and the dairy free cheese options and I found both extremely satisfactory. I loved the fresh spinach greens and fresh tomatoes in the burrito. I loved the homemade habanero sauce and the spicy house sauce (they saved my experience). Everyone was pleasant, the bathroom was clean, and the food came out in a timely manner.
Okay, now the not so great stuff (i am well traveled and love spicy foods so you can blame this on my palate): If you are looking for a legit mexican or californian style burrito this ain't it and the restaurant chain Chipotle would sell you a more Legit and authentic burrito: the beans are canned and unseasoned, the sweet potato was like puree and completely unseasoned and no cilantro to be found anywhere on the thing. Yes this is a healthy option, but at $18 for a GF burrito consisting mostly of flavorless pureed sweet potato is overpriced for what I was expecting: Try Pedro's in Kennebunk, try El Ray (multiple locations-they even make guac fresh at your table), try Loco Taco in portland, or Guerrera Maya in south portland if you are looking for slightly more authentic tex mexa.
Overall, I do appreciate the GF and Dairy free option provided in this lunchtime establishment. I will be back when I am in a pinch for a quick bite and healthy option in the food dessert that is Augusta. Thank you for providing an option for a hungry gluten free/dairy free person.
Samantha was wonderful, so bubbly and nice! Service was amazing, very attentive and helpful. Highly recommend coming to eat here! Also, great gluten free menu!
It was different than I was expecting based on their Instagram posts…the highlight of the space is definitely the bar, with the dining room more stark and less cozy than I anticipated. The Brussels sprouts and fried pork belly appetizers were delicious, but the main steak and ramen entrees were a bit underwhelming. The steak was over cooked and the ramen wasn’t especially well-spiced or flavorful. The best part of the menu was the fact that it was extremely gluten-free friendly - including the slice of birthday cake slice with butter cream frosting.
This is definitely a place to stop at any time you can! Their chowder is fantastic and gluten free as-is. The lobster roll was amazing and had a gluten free bun option!
One of my go to lunch places! I come here at least twice a week, and usually get a bacon cheeseburger on a lettuce wrap with tomato. They usually ask allergy or preference, I say allergy since I have celiac. The tomatoes are always nice, and the lettuce wrap is usually pretty substantial versus when a place only gives you one leaf of lettuce per side. It's a little messy depending on the toppings, but if you order your burger as a little (1 patty instead of 2) it's usually more manageable if you're worried about that. Everything is made fresh, so depending on how busy it gets you might have to wait a little bit but they've got roasted peanuts to munch on if you want a snack while you wait. I usually also get fries, which I can't recommend enough. Overall a great pick!
