The Black Jug is always great for Sunday lunch - great food, good atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff. On this visit we had our gluten-intolerant daughter with us - she asked if the Yorkshire puddings that came with the beef were GF but because they weren't decided to have something else. About 5 minutes later our server came and said the kitchen had whipped up some GF yorkshires so would she like to change the order. It was such a kind, thoughtful thing to do. Our daughter did change her order and her meal was perfect - as was everyones. You can always judge somewhere by how far they'll go to make a customer happy and we were all so impressed on this occasion - especially when the kitchen is already so busy just serving Sunday lunch!

As a picky eater and a coeliac, we were over the moon with our dinner at Filippo's last night. The service was fantastic, they went over and above to ensure we were happy with the food and even made an off-menu cocktail for my husband after he provided the ratios (this was possible as we were there early and it was reasonably quiet plus it was a simple cocktail, we wouldn't expect it and it was a lovely surprise). The bases for the gluten free pizzas and garlic breads are made offsite as they recognise that the cross contamination risk of making them onsite in the same kitchen as the standard bases is too risky for coeliacs - massive thumbs up from me! They also cook the gluten free bases on trays for the same reason. We shared a gluten free garlic bread for starter and they were happy to do half with cheese and half without. This was the best garlic bread I have had (I had the cheesy side) in YEARS and certainly since being diagnosed with coeliac disease. For our mains we chose a meat pizza (standard base, no cheese) and salmon pasta (gluten free pasta). My husband said the pizza was the best he can remember having, and my pasta was also very good although I'd probably go for pizza next time as the gf bases were so good. Fantastic evening and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

Haven't eaten here for a few years, but the food was delicious and the staff excellent. Being celiac, it's always a worry how restaurants cater for (or don't) gluten-free, but these guys were brilliant! All my food came out with gluten-free stickers attached to plates. The team was very knowledgeable about gluten and cc, etc. Made me feel very relaxed. Thry also have an online allergen menu where you select which intolerances you have and it tells you what dishes you can eat. Big thanks to Luvi, who looked after our table, who was all round fantastic with nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend. Thank you.

Lovely place- great view, brilliant and attentive staff, fantastic food! One of those places that give you cozy and warm vibes. My son, who is fussy with food and is celiac, loved the gluten free burger and the gluten free brownies. We had burgers, very big I must say and super delicious. But the my absolute favourite was the blueberry cheesecake!! I had it as a take away as I was full but omg definitely one of the best I’ve ever tasted 🫣😄 Super friendly and accommodating staff! Definitely will be visiting again!
