Fantastic spot for dinner. Highly recommend the trout dish! Their staff are also always so attentive to my gluten free restrictions, making for an amazing dining experience!
We like this place because it has a ton of options, and gluten free buns... but take out is strange because they don't entirely dress your burger..they give you a bag with condiment packets. Awkward if you're trying to eat on the go. Also: landfill. The other thing is, the fries and burgers are packed up in the container together, making the fries always soggy if you're not eating them right away.
Our kids were crashing when we arrived for our take out order, and when I asked to have the fries first while we were waiting for the burgers, I was told they didn't do that.
Interesting space and options...some things need some work on the service side.
Great gluten free options & love their hot drinks menu. The cafe itself is warm and inviting with an artsy vibe and great for cocktails & conversation. The cheesecake is a favourite.
Atmosphere is great, and the food you get is delicious. Communication between kitchen and waitstaff is a mess. My ordered drink didn’t get into the system. An item labelled gf the waitress said had gluten, then gf, once I’d decided what else to try. So I ordered the first item and it came on a regular bun and they were out of gf buns. Kids meals are advertised to come with dessert which wasn’t offered or delivered. My partner and kids’ food was really nice, server was friendly and I enjoyed my salad.
Favourite high end restaurant in Guelph, and the best pizza in the city.
My wife and I frequent Manhattan's. She has celiac disease and staff are always receptive to her gluten allergy.
It is difficult to get takeout depending on time; so I recommend calling as early as possible before it gets too busy.
The music is always amazing and staff are welcoming, kind, and respectful.
We enjoyed the food, the fact that we the seating is spacious and comfortable. MJ was a great server; offered options, gave advice, helped us choose our choices. I am celiac and the chef at this location has always gone above and beyond for my dietary needs requirements. A five star experience 9/10.
This place is a whole vibe!
Love the array of options - vegetarian, vegan, gluten free! They've got it all!!!
The curried potatoes are a nice twist.
And the cookies are as big as your hand!
Also, the service is top notch - very attentive!
Really disappointed in the phone call I had with someone today. I get that a lot of places are not accommodating for celiac disease, but every taco place I have been to, caters to this allergy (understandable that there will always be SOME risk). So already, really disappointed to see so many gluten free options but not celiac friendly. Regardless, the girl on the phone seemed very unsure if there were process' in place for a person with celiac disease to ensure no cross contamination. I asked her to check with the chef, and I was on hold for an entirety of maybe 30 seconds - which is not enough time to go find them, ask a question get an answer and pick up the phone, etc. So I am certain that she did not ask, as her answer when she came back was the exact same. Really disappointed in this encounter.
Overall a solid breakfast choice. Lots of selection, vegan & gluten free options. The place is busy so service is a little slow. The staff is friendly. The robo-waiter plays Happy Birthdy the whole time. Decent food choices, a bit pricey but it hits the breakfast spot for sure!
Really good pizza, chewy perfect crust, lots of toppings & cheese, wonderful gluten free crust, awesome daily deals (like really really good!) Mondays & Wednesdays particularly. Relaxed atmosphere, nice little pizza night out with my little family. Will be back for sure!
Return customer here. We ordered Butter chicken, so it was easy to make us happy. Yes, they have many gluten free items which is perfect for celiacs. Staff is nice and friendly. We ate in restaurant, and the wait for food was not too long. Maybe there was just less Uber eats orders, at Friday 8pm ish.
Will come back !
The neighbourhood would be worse off without this great-in-a-pinch dinner option. It’s not a fancy place, but the pizza is hot, fresh, tasty, and the gluten free option is among the best I’ve had from a takeout place. Quick chana and samosas are also great for cheap lunch.
First time dining at The Wooly, and will also be the last.
Made reservations and got a nice table for four people in a cozy room next to a portable fireplace. When the lights went dim, service staff offered a magnifier with light for my mother which was a nice touch and appreciated. Environment was welcoming and friendly. Staff appeared to be aware of the patrons and safety-conscious, which is why the experience was ultimately so upsetting.
I ordered the Smokey BBQ Burger on a Gluten Free bun, with a side of fries. The server took the time to point out that the fries were not cooked in a separate fryer from other gluten-containing items, which was a green flag that he understood why I was asking for the special bun, and that he took the request seriously.
When the food arrived, the Burger looked fantastic. It looked and felt like a real "normal" bun, which is exceedingly rare for a Gluten Free bun. This should have been my first clue. The taste should have been my second. It tasted fantastic, just like real bread. I should have stopped right there. It may have been too late, but I should have notified the server that this was almost certainly real bread. It was way too good to be true. Instead, my hunger, instincts, maybe my trust, or perhaps just desire to eat some real carbs again took over and the burger was devoured before I knew it.
As I settled and noticed my stomach starting to.. misbehave, I glanced around at some of my fellow diners. Some of them had burgers or chicken burgers. The buns looked exactly like mine. A sense of dread crept up on me. I held out hope that this still wasn't the case, that perhaps the Wooly had created the greatest, most authentic Gluten Free hamburger bun the world has seen.
As we left the Pub the feeling in my stomach got worse. And when we arrived at our evening event at the Sleeman Centre (Wooly is within close proximity and about a 7 minute walk), my experience was soon interrupted by some particularly unpleasant time alone in the facilities that confirmed what had indeed happened. While I hesitate to mention any details, the after-effects carried over well into the next day and the suffering continues.
I accept a great deal of responsibility for what happened and what I consumed, but I leave this as a warning to individuals who may have allergy concerns, dietary restrictions, or other needs with their food. I wanted to love the Wooly, and although there were no other concerns with the experience, this mistake is a very, very big one, could potentially be life-threatening to some, and it's a mistake that just can't be made in a modern kitchen.
Excellent Ethiopian food, very flavourful and quick to order. Loved the Veggie platter for two (I ate it all myself but it easily would feed two / three normal meals). My wife is celiac and they mention gluten free injera but you have to call ahead for it so she wasn’t able to eat (hence the veggie platter all to myself). I knocked a few stars off for atmosphere as the bathrooms could use a good clean. Otherwise food and service is excellent and value for money is incredible. Will definitely return
This cafe was recommended. Cute exterior. Cozy interior decor with art on walls and lots of windows. Service was good. Gluten free brownie was small and lacked flavour and freshness. Both the chai latte and the regular latte were very good. Next time we are in Guelph we’ll return, and recommend to others.
Terrible experience ordered a gluten free pizza. Obviously pay extra for gluten option spent $160 plus tip get the pizza home made with regular dough. Called the store Manager was to be notified never happened asked for a new pizza to be made and delivered never happened. No wonder why the restaurant is empty.
What an amazing experience. Not only did they have amazing food they had they provided gluten free options for my wife. It was our first experience and we can't say enough good things. Hours later I am still very happy with choosing to eat here. I can't wait until I can eat some of the leftovers.
Michael the server was amazing. Very knowledgeable on gluten & dairy free requirements. Extremely friendly, and created an amazing experience. Welcoming from the moment you walk in the door until you leave. He gave great recommendations for appetizers, entrees, wine and desert. Highly recommend. Make a reservation.
My server, Sarah was a delight. She went out of her way to thoroughly check the gluten free options for me, and was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious as well.
Table of 10. Waitress was friendly, they ran out of gluten free buns so they gave us free nachos and sweet potato fries. Kids loved playing cornhole and galaga. Prices were reasonable. Will definitely come back.
I was very disappointed when I arrived at the restaurant to discover the many gluten free options on the menu were not gluten free at all. We had limited time available, and I thought I was choosing a spot that took food allergies seriously. False advertising. People with serious food allergies are always looking for safe places to eat out.....this place is NOT one of them.
Hubby (walk in) ordered a pizza and was not given a sticker as he was told that management said they weren't doing the sticker thing any more. This would have been the tenth sticker collected with this pizza, meaning that after 10 stickers the next pizza is free. This was dropped with no notice with a 'we're not doing that anymore' despite the already collected nine stickers. I did give one star as the pizza is good (but not the gluten one) and you have to give at least one star to give a review here. The taste of a good pizza turns rancid with business practices like that.
