This is the best Boardwalk in Abby! They always load up my veggie burger with lots of super-fresh toppings and it's very tasty. The staff here are really friendly and professional. However, I have to stop eating wheat/gluten, so I can no longer eat the veggie burger :( and the beyond burger is too high in sodium for me. I'm hoping you guys can start making a gluten-free organic veggie burger so I can come back! Sincerely, the gal with the blue car. :)

I've eaten hundreds of Famoso pizzas over the years, starting in Edmonton long ago. It's been my go-to pizza place for a long time because of the excellent ingredients and especially the soft, chewy crust that bubbles in the oven and had a texture that I hadn't experienced outside of brick oven pizzas in New York. I loved being able to get that kind of quality in my own neighbourhood. That's why I was so disappointed on my last visit to Famoso in Abbotsford last week, something has changed in the crust. It tasted like cardboard in flavour and texture. Famoso pizza just isn't special anymore and I'm so sad about that. My guess is that to reduce costs they've replaced the 00 flour with regular high gluten North American flour and ruined it. They took away my reason for going back.

NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY. Both staff and owner are unaware of what gluten free actually means. This was one of my favourite restaurants, and if you have celiac disease, you know how tough it is to find a spot that really understands your concerns about gluten. They have friendly staff, and the rolls were tasty, however, I can't overlook a basic health concern that all restaurants should be considering. I'm super disappointed by this local spot that would have been a family favourite for years to come.
When you eat here, do not trust the separate "gluten free" menu as advertised. You will get sick. I have been eating here frequently over the past 5 months. Each time I've ordered, I have clearly stated that I have celiac disease/gluten allergy. I have made this clear to both the server when I've dined in, and when I've ordered through door dash. I order the same rolls, and to my surprise today, when I ordered my regular, the roll was without sauce. When I called to inquire why there was no sauce on my roll, they said that it had gluten in it, so they left it off. Now over the past several times eating here, I had felt a little off, but chalked it up to something else, since I was assured several times, that the food I was consuming within their restaurant was gluten free. Knowingly, and without attention to detail, the restaurant has been serving me gluten over the past 5 months. When I called and spoke to the owner today, he disregarded my concern, and stated that there was "only a little bit of gluten" in their sauces, and "all of their gluten free customers" had never had a problem. It's unfortunate, but I won't be coming to this restaurant anymore, and won't be recommending it to my friends in the celiac community. I hope they will make a change for future customers with dietary concerns.
