Excellent service at this cafe. The mornay scallop was so tasty as was the chicken kebab . The staff were extra helpful to provide gluten free options. Decor is 1950s in an 1850s world but enjoy the service and food 👍

Czegs’ Richmond occupies a charming Bridge Street cottage where white-washed sandstone walls and mismatched timber tables set a relaxed, homely mood. Flower boxes brighten the footpath, and inside you will spot vintage teacups alongside jars of house-made chutney. The menu suits unhurried brunches and casual lunches. Crowd favourites range from airy ricotta pancakes with berry compote to slow-braised beef cheeks on mash, while lighter picks like smoked-salmon eggs Benedict and a crisp croque monsieur also hold their own. Bakers turn out golden sausage rolls and a multilayered Russian honey cake that balances sweetness with gentle spice. Coffee earns proper attention with beans sourced from a Hobart roaster and poured into cups capped by silky micro-foam. Service feels genuinely welcoming; staff refill water without prompting, know the specials by heart and never rush diners even when a line forms at the door. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are clearly marked, highchairs fit easily between tables and a sun-lit rear courtyard provides extra space on busy weekends. Prices sit in the mid-teens to low-twenties for most dishes, fair once you factor in generous portions and well-chosen local produce. Czegs’ delivers warm country-town hospitality that makes a stop in Richmond feel especially rewarding.
