Service is friendly, loads of GF options. GF food fried separately. I'm coeliac and ordered a few times here and no issues. Highly recommend this chippy.

Lots of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options marked in the menu. There were 4 people waiting for tables when we arrived, and we still were seated in 5mins. Pizza and salad combo makes a perfect light meal. Salad was as basic as it gets, but fine. Pizza was better than I expected - thin crust, well dressed.
The food is incredible, you can tell they are Italian. They have gluten-free pasta options although there isn't much to choose from. It comes in a VERY small quantity for the price, but it is very very delicious for a treat-meal.
We went to celebrate my sister's graduation and the staff made sure to congratulate her which was a very nice touch!
We got a variety of pastas, pizzas, salads and sides. It was all fantastic, including the gluten free Caesar salad which my mum gave a 10/10. High praise.
I had the Pappardelle alla Norcina (Picture attached), which was lovely! I struggled to finish it as we also had garlic bread. My favourite part of the meal however was the focaccia we shared as a starter, which was warm, soft and had great flavour.
Would definitely give this place a go!
Used Vittoria many times over the years in both locations. Enjoyed it every time but sadly today was well below previous standards.
We asked about gluten free for the starters as there was gluten free bread available and a quite a few of the starters were something with garlic bread so could they swap it. Told no the chef would t cut a slice just for that. Really poor standard. Why offer pizza and pasta gluten free mains but do nothing for starters and also dessert. You’ll find it’s either sorbet or gelato.
Meatball starter I was excited for but instead of the one large Polpette you used to get it was four small very average meatballs.
One main course was good the seafood tagliatelle is recommend that, the rucola salad side was a bit tiny for the price.
The other main course chicken and spinach risotto was another very average dish. This was a go to in the past and was much better on previous visits.
The raspberry sorbet dessert was nice after we had to remind them it was to come with a berry compote which they corrected to be fair.
Overall sadly very average for what used to be a highlight for Edinburgh.
Been here and had take away multiple times and loved it but this last time got take away for a gluten free pizza and was awful the crust was both chewy and burnt.

Ula was most amazing! Showed me how to use the rewards app. Recommended new Gluten free base and explained the difference. Truly great experience for solo dining!
Delicious, flavorful pizza!
I found you on Find Me Glutenfree.
Thank you for the careful preparation!
We were happy to have the outdoor seating – even if it was a bit chilly in the shade...
It's so nice to be able to eat out spontaneously with celiac disease without making a reservation. Thank you so much!!!🫶🏻
A lovely restaurant. Amazing value and the food was delicious. All of the staff made you feel very at home and were so friendly. The menu has such a wide choice for people with all different preferences including pescatarian, vegetarian and also for gluten free.
Amazing food!!! The most delicious vegan gluten free pizza I've had by far (and I'm often trying out vegan gluten free pizzas lol). Extensive gluten free menu as well, excellent service and atmosphere
We are both gluten and dairy intolerant so it's so nice to go somewhere, not be worried if there's something we can eat. be comfortable and the waiter was lovely
Unfriendly service. The food is delicious and very fresh which makes up for the poor experience of service. They also have gluten free pizza and options!
Great food and brilliant atmosphere. Leo, our waiter, was very attentive to our gluten free needs, even creating a gluten free alternative starter for us. Fantastic experience.
Wow, this place was just amazing. We spent 2.5 weeks in Scotland and this was probably our favorite restaurant/meal of the trip. Food and cocktails were amazing. I can’t have gluten and even their meals with no gluten ingredients were fantastic. Wish we had time to go back a second time.
Mixed feelings.
I visited last night, choosing this branch based on great past experiences with gluten-free pizzas at other PE locations. The food here was just as tasty—no complaints there! Unfortunately, something went wrong, and I ended up unwell due to gluten contamination.
I hadn’t initially paid attention to the prep area, but later noticed shared utensils and what looked like the same oven being used. If you’re coeliac, I wouldn’t recommend this branch due to cross-contamination risks.
I’d love to return because the food was genuinely good, but only if there’s greater awareness and care around what “gluten-free” truly means—especially for those of us who rely on more than just a label in the menu.
a great place with amazing italian food!
the selection of food is amazing, you can get pastas, literally 7 different bread selection, pizzas, meat and fish. they have gluten free pastas option as well.
the service is amazing! the conversations with waiters were really warm and welcoming. we have enjoyed being served by such lovely people! if you are looking for a place to have a dinner and feel like home - choose this one for sure.
great selection of wine as well!

Delicious, authentic food served in a hospitable and welcoming atmosphere. Service was awesome and everyone was kind. Pasta is made fresh and the menu has a wonderful variety including vegetarian and gluten free options.
Update: went again because I had such a great experience, second time was probably even better! I love this place. Staff make all the difference (obviously food and drink too). For example, while waiting in line Frederico greeted us -he didn't have to, he welcomed us and made us feel at home. Love Tempo Perso!
Great food, great atmosphere, lovely staff. Just right! Would recommend and look forward to visiting again.
Gluten free options available
The best gluten free pizza I’ve had in a very long time and the best I’ve experienced in Edinburgh, really great fresh ingredients and super friendly staff.
They are very cross contamination aware and even have a separate gluten free oven which is a coeliacs dream!
Can’t recommend them enough, I’ve already been back a couple of times since discovering them, thank you!
I went to eat there and Irina served us very well! She explained to us what dishes I could eat due to my gluten intolerance and was super attentive at all times, they take cross contamination into account.
The food was delicious and the place is very beautiful!
I recommend it 100%
I will return for sure!
The pizza is delicious. I ordered a gluten free pizza it was fantastic! My friends had normal pizza and they were very satisfied as well. We will definitely come back another time 😋

This is our favorite place to eat at. I am celiac and find it so hard to enjoy a meal and not worry about cross contamination. Pepe Nero has an extensive menu, we love everyone here and are like our second family. You never leave this place hungry as as they have the best menu… so what can I say excellent food, amazing staff so friendly and helpful. Ps galaxy the choc lab is allowed and looks forward to her weekly trip for lunch out. @galaxyincalifornia

The staff were friendly and the food was ready on time. We had a hot and spicy pizza, mac and cheese, and skin-on fries. The pizza was delicious, the mac and cheese was creamy, and the fries were perfectly cooked. It’s great to see gluten-free pizza and pasta available too. I’ll definitely be back to try more toppings!
Ella was very kind to us. 😁

Delicious! Couldn’t say more good things about this place. Went with my parents and we had an incredible meal with excellent service. They’re super flexible to dietary restrictions - I enjoyed an amazing gluten free, vegetarian pasta. Definitely save room for dessert - the cacio & strawberry sorbet are the perfect finishers.

Warm atmosphere and setting, funny and gruff service, and decent carciofi salad and haggis pasta (if you’re looking for an authentic Scottish fusion?). generally have very flexible standards for food, but if you have celiac disease, please give this place a miss. The gf pasta arrived looking quite literally like soup, a 2 because the flavor was decent - but shouldn’t have required a spoon to eat (and probably shouldn’t be served that way?).
Good dining in experience with a nice view of the Britannia, very nice waiters & good service. Atmosphere was pretty quiet which my brother and I liked. Very broad menu options to choose from with gluten free & vegetarian options. Definitely worth the visit !
They were short staffed the day we were in but all bar one employee there was doing their best to keep things going. The food was reasonable but not so treat that we'd make a point of going back. It was chosen as their menu could cope with the dairy and gluten intolerance within the party but the choices were limited. Will probably look for somewhere else if we go back to Edinburgh.
We so enjoyed our meal here in Mr Basrai's. The staff were so welcoming and extremely helpful. My husband hadCoeliac disease and they so accommodating with a varied tasty selection of food for him and for all of us. We are a family of 6 .We highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you.
Felt rushed from the moment I walked in ahead of the rest of the group. Had to order my gluten free option early due to being rushed and it then came completely uncooked- solid pasta. Instead of an apology, I was told I didn't order pasta but plastic. The second version was edible but I am not entirely positive it was gluten free as I vomited outside straight afterwards and still felt nauseous the next day. The rest of the group of 9 felt incredibly rushed and were also unhappy with the service. They had mixed quality food some poorly cooked pizzas and ranged from all feeling very bloated for hours to having a bad stomach and being unwell the following day.
UPDATE: Reponse from owner accused my sickness to being 'refreshed' but ironically due to my chronic stomach condition I do not drink alcohol and same condition why I do not eat wheat. If they remembered me so well they would recall that I was the only member not drinking alcohol.
