The recommendation by friend did not fail! A wonderful cozy and quiet place with everything vegetarian and so many vegan and gluten free choices. We tried the onion rings and the mushrooms. The tamale pie and the pizza. It was all delicious.
Amazing all gluten free menu. Exceptional Calamari and Popovers. The fish and chips was excellent too. Service was prompt and friendly. Can not recommend enough.
What a lovely team that works here! There were 4 of us for dinner with a small dog and it was a cold night. The team set a table inside for us and our puppy and then wowed us with fantastic service and a wonderful dinner. We highly recommend! Menu has great wine and cocktails and a nice variety in their menu with seafood, vegetarian and gluten free options.
My favorite go-to for years. As a kid and a teen we were always at the Bagel Bakery and I thought for sure when the Bagel Kitchen took over I would follow the Bagel Bakery.....until I went gluten free and found the Bagel bakery didnt have GF bagels....and were actually quite rude about it. The Bagel Kitchen embodies the original Bagel Bakery for sure. Kind, friendly staff who remember you, are SO friendly and dont just throw stuff on your bagel....you can tell they make it how they would want to eat it. Its almost my comfort food now.
We ended up at il vecchio after the wait at first awakenings was too long, and I’m so glad we ended up here instead! Very cozy and unique vibe, and the food was GREAT. I was especially impressed by the gluten free pancake - you won’t be able to tell the difference. Order it with fresh blueberries :)
I got the eggs Benedict with ham - the hollandaise sauce was really good and it came with TONS of ham
Highly recommend!
The food was absolutely amazing. I had grilled octopus, gluten free homemade bread, and amazing gf homemade pasta. Probably the best I've ever had. I'm not sure what precautions they take but they understood I needed gluten free. I'm pretty sensitive and I didn't get sick. Service was excellent. I'll definitely be back.
Tucked yards away from the ocean along Sunset Drive, for starters, Fishwife provides a beautiful breath of Pacific fresh air!
The seafood is fresh and mouthwateringly delicious. The menu prices reflect an excellent value.
With a full bar, child's plates, gluten free and classic fish choices, there are plenty of options to enjoy and satisfy!
The seaside, organic ambiance and atmosphere boasts turquoise accents, wide windows and a rustic stone wall.
We loved visiting this intimate restaurant and will again, next time we find ourselves joyously coasting along the 17 Mile Drive near Monterey.
Ordered off the locals dinner menu. Great deals and my meal was delicious. I have gluten and dairy allergies which they were graciously able to accommodate. I grew up around the corner. Glad to be able to come back to the beautiful location on Lovers point. Make sure you make a reservation or you might risk waiting 30 minutes + for a table. It’s always packed.
I love the food here! Excellent gluten free and vegetarian options, always super fresh and flavorful. Such a hidden gem. The last two times I've been here Vanessa has been my server and she's so friendly and helpful. Thanks Vanessa!
Cute spot. Gluten Free bread allows your to switch stuff in and out, but certainly not a great place for any serious gluten allergies. Super yummy, extra spicy chai!
Staff were rushed and didn't seen confident and knowledgable when asked about the menu.
Really cute interior, homestyle vibe.
Pizza was really not great at all. We got a gluten free margarita and it was so charred that it crumbled like charcoal in places. Flavorless. The other pizza ordered was on their specialty list that came with onions mushrooms pepperoni and there were such a ridiculous amount of toppings on it the dough was completely raw. Service was good.
Three hungry women (a Vegetarian, a Gluten Free & Foodie) were looking for an “Good” Italian restaurant for dinner, and discovered La Mia Cuchina in Pacific Grove. Service staff was very attentive, he explained the specials and was responsive to our many questions. They had multiple vegetarian options (The Eggplant Parmesan was very good). They could accommodate some of their entrees and had gluten free pasta (Bolognese pasta) They offered two gluten free desserts: Crème Brûlée and Sorbet. The Crème Brûlée was delicious. Our Foodie found the Calamari appetizer was well prepared, thinly sliced and tender. The homemade lasagna with meat sauce was flavorful but would have preferred a more traditional layered structure.
A lovely addition to Pacific Grove! Red House is our usual favorite, but we decided to mix things up and we were so glad we did! Such a cute location - loved the tie ins to honor the Winston Hotel throughout the decor. Delicious food and was thrilled to learn they had gluten free bread available! I can imagine this place is packed on weekends, but we were in and out with great service on a weekday!
Been here a couple of times and while the service isn’t the fastest, the staff does a great job making sure you are taken care of. Yvonne in particular has really looked out for us (vegan/gluten free restrictions) and the food is great!
They do not advertise gluten free items on their menu but if you mention your food allergy, the staff will gladly point out what you can and cannot eat. I got the spicy seafood green curry and it was absolutely delicious. Super flavorful and just the right amount of spice. Portions are decent. Not too large, not too small. My husband got the green curry with chicken and he loved it. Prices are what they are, being in Pacific Grove and tourist season, at that. We got out with waters, one large beer, two curry dishes and two rice sides for $72. But the food was worth it and I packed my leftovers. It was that good.
Un pedacito de mi querido Paraguay en Pacific Grove, California.
I was lucky enough to discover a beautiful and charming gastronomic cafe while I was traveling in California. From the moment I was greeted “mba'éichapa” and entered to the cafe, the atmosphere conveyed warmth and authenticity, with details that evoked Paraguayan culture and attention that made me feel at home. Just remembering gives me chills. Cafe Guarani is certainly one of those places that cannot be missed when visiting Monterey. Located in the heart of Pacific Grove, California.
Cafe Guarani offers a charming oasis of peace thanks to the indoor and outdoor seats. Beautiful place with an incredible garden-patio, full of plants, flowers, trees, they even have a Paraguayan hamaca, very relaxing atmosphere! The decor has a nostalgic vibe, with ñandúti and memorabilia from my country. I felt home, immediately!
Liliana the owner and her son Sebastian, were so friendly and welcoming! When we get there the restaurant was closed and after I told them that I’m Paraguayan as well, immediately open the doors for my family and me.
The cafe serves delicious Paraguayan dishes and snacks. We ordered the beef milanesa sandwich that comes with fried yuca and alioli sauce, also we had baked beef and vegan empanadas that comes with chimichurri and a gluten free mbejú (Tapioca flour cheese flat bread) with Cocido (smoked Yerba mate) Sooo good!! Everything was very tasty and absolutely delicious!
I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel the real taste of Paraguay in an extremely friendly environment. A place not to be missed!
Aguyje Liliana and Sebastian!
Located across from Lovers' Point in Pacific Grove, this cozy place brings so much more than just tasty food to one's dining experience. We were greeted so warmly and seated in area that allowed us to really enjoy the panoramic views of Pacific Grove. The menu of seafood, pastas, salads and wonderful appetizers is a delight to both omnivores and vegan-gluten conscious eaters. As for the ambiance, a bit of color and some plants would really add more charm to this MUST vist place!
