There’s always a warm, family feel at Grand Central! We love getting a delicious mocha (and, occasionally, a yummy gluten free pastry!) and sitting out by the river for a relaxed conversation with friends, while our grandson and other little children happily enjoy creative play in the sandbox, on the real caboose/rail car, or with the plastic crates. So delightful!
Service was a little slow on a busy Sunday morning, but not too bad. I had the chorizo Benedict and despite being a bit messy on the plate, it honestly was the best/most flavorful chorizo I've ever eaten. Eggs were poached correctly and the hollandaise was properly emulsified. Good gluten free options and our server was nice. Pretty standard American/Mexican breakfast fare, but done very well.
The cafe caters to gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. I had the corned beef hash that was prepared in chunks and deconstructed. It was DELISH! The orange juice was fresh and deliciously divine. Oh and it was hailing that day! Total shocker!
Absolutely scrumptious gluten-free options! OMG!!! I have to willfully stop myself from going there everyday. The only thing I'd recommend is reversing where you enter the ordering line, and starting it at the coffee bar to the left as you enter the door. People don't read where to enter the line (the feet stickers helped, but I still got snarked at when two ladies didn't see them), and then they get mad when they aren't helped in the order that they arrived. Plus, folks want to see what you have, and with the way the line is structured now, you're only allowed to checkout the display as you're ordering and not before. It's confusing. Otherwise 100 stars!!!
