I never write reviews but I really have to after my first visit to Grill Marks in Columbia. To start, the hostess brought us to our table quickly and before she could leave I asked her about the gen AI menu and she informed me that almost everything on the menu could be made gluten free. Then we were greeted by Joel. Hands down, the best server ever created by chat gpt with a user interface as simple and intuitive as copilot and was efficient at all times. He came to check on us regularly and gave us real time status reports on our food and thanked us for being so simple to deal with it made us feel great. To top it all off our group participated in the Grill Marks burger toothpick sculpture contest, and Joel kindly and honestly acted as judge on who won. Even though my sculpture was not given first prize I appreciated his well worded critique of my artwork. Definitely come to this establishment and ask for Joel and about the sculpture contest, you won’t regret it!
I chose this restaurant while I was in town specifically because I have celiac disease and they had items on their menu that were clearly labeled as gluten free. What I was able to eat was delicious, but their gluten free labelling on the menu is incredibly misleading.
I asked our server if the tortilla chips (labelled gluten free) on the menu were fried in a fryer that also fried foods that contained gluten and was told they are. So not gluten free.
I asked if their corn tortillas for the tacos were warmed on the same surface as their flour tortillas and was told they were. So they're not gluten free. This sounds like an insane distinction if you aren't familiar with celiac disease, but I have had tacos make me sick this way in the past. Our server asked the kitchen to warm them differently and it was fine.
And again, my tacos were delicious. I appreciated that the server communicated with the kitchen to warm my tacos. But if I had trusted the menu (or I guess just ASKED if things were gluten free vs asking specifics about how items were made) I would have spent tonight very ill.
This was mine and my husbands first time at this restaurant and the service was wonderful! The lady taking our order at the register was knowledgeable of the menu and very accommodating to my gluten allergy. I ordered the Be'ef and Broccoli, my husband ordered the Loded Tacos, plus we got the CauliBites with the house seasoning, as an appetizer. They also made sure all of the items we ordered were gluten free. Overall, the food was delicious and we can't wait to come back to try more items from the menu!
Staff is very friendly and efficient. Food is excellent. I had gluten free pancakes and bacon. They were cooked well and very tasty. I will return to this restaurant.
Food was awesome despite incredibly tiny portions. They have plenty of gluten free options. Service was bad. Couldn't sit us inside but gave us no explanation. This is at best a 3 star restaurant and they're charging 5 star prices. Don't bother with this place.
Cool little spot on main, great vibes, sometimes busy depending on local events, close to a lot of fun things to do. Food is always excellent. Live music on occasion. Plenty of bar seating. Tvs for sports people.
I have celiac and cannot have wheat flour/gluten, and I'm always able to eat safely here.
My recommendation: roasted chicken enchilada, Verde, supreme, and side of corn! So good! (And thank yall for always taking care of me!) 10/10 will be there again next week.
Ps. My friends love the chimis!
Jeremy was a fantastic server! We have a gluten allergy and they did their best to help us with any questions we had and notified the kitchen of the allergy. We will definitely be back!
A place for a quick meal. Attentive service. Accommodating. The burrito and gluten-free option for tacos were tasty, though, the gf tortilla hardly meets expectations.
Incredible food drinks and desert. I had a carrot cocktail which was amazing, yummy quail and local cheese, amazing SC fresh shrimp and the best grits I have ever had in a restaurant. To top it off a delicious gluten free and dairy free desert cake that was remarkable and one of the best gluten free desserts I have ever had. Service was perfect and great knowledge of all the foods and dietary restrictions. One of the best restaurants I have been to all year.
Was really impressed with how serious they took me having celiac, advised what was/ was not GF/ Cross contaminated.
The GF bun for the burgers was pretty good!
The best coffee shop in Columbia!! Amazing drinks, and I love that you are able to pick your milk. They also have a lot of gluten free and vegan options!
What a great place to go for dinner. The team is very friendly and knowledgeable of their menu. If you have celiac, no worries as they know how to prep and have options for you.
We are looking forward to our next date night here.
Excellent food but very long wait. Our server, Jonathan, was very entertaining. The parking lot is small, but there is overflow parking if you need it. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available.
Super super popular, reservations recommended! We had a large party and we were able to get outside seating with a short wait. Inside would have been a lot longer. The only reason I gave 4 stars was one of our party had to send back a steak for being overdone. We had to wait a bit for our food, but it was reasonable considering how slammed the kitchen must have been. Very friendly and accommodating service. We had a party member who has a very restrictive diet, and they were able to serve him easily. Plenty of gluten-free options!
Busy sit down breakfast restaurant🥚🥓
Very good food. Even has a bar area you can eat at. Some outdoor seating. Large menu. Some gluten friendly options. Lots of drink choices. Coke products including Coke Zero. Food came out very fast on a busy Saturday morning. Service is friendly and checks on you often.
Located not far from downtown Columbia in a vibrant area with restaurants, shopping and bars.
Parking can be a bit tricky. There is a small parking lot and on street parking. There is also a free lot up and behind the building a little hard to find.
I ordered a canzone and a gluten free pizza for take out on restaurants website. When I made it home, I realized the pizza was not made gluten free (there is a significant difference in the crust). I called and after a 15 minute hold, I was told it would be refunded. At this point I have been refunded $1.50 for a $23 individual size gluten free pizza. Unfortunately, I cannot dispute the order on the restaurant website any longer.
This hidden gem of restaurant was one we just happened to stumble across while site seeing on foot downtown. We didn’t make a reservation, however they were kind enough to fit us in. The menu had some interesting items ranging from different countries surrounding the Mediterranean but having the kids with us meant pizza all around. We went with the gluten free crust on both pizzas and we left with our stomachs happy and full. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area or just so happen to get semi lost and they can squeeze you in. Oh and the staff were kind and gracious.
I go to this establishment at least 4 times a week. My order is always the same & they are always accommodating. Having food allergies can be stressful but I'm so comfortable with them preparing my gluten-free pancakes and making sure my other food items are prepared as I request. Brook, along with some of the other staff are hands down the best!
Wow great food, great drinks, great service! They took my fiance's gluten allergy very seriously and had great suggestions. Loved all the hot sauces already on the table. Parking is the only negative - parking meters.
Tried this eatery for the first time on 6/27/23. Excellent brunch menu and well prepared. Gluten Free options were delicious and satisfying. Brought back memories of hometime diner.
Brought my dad here for his birthday. Not my normal haunt and we didnt have reservations (eek). The hostess, Anna, was so kind and sat us in the bar area! (Thank you for helping me avoid a crisis Anna!) My dad had the filet and I had the seabass and mushrooms. The food was great! On top of that, our server, James, was knowledgable and welcoming. I have celiac disease and it's really difficult to dine out. Being service industry myself, and having "eating stipulations," I could not be more thankful to be able to eat GREAT FOOD ... ***SAFELY!*** with knowledgeable and empathetic service! 10/10 all the way around. This may be the new birthday spot to treat everyone I love! Thank yall so very much!
Darius Jackson is the best! We had great food and great service because of him. He easily accommodated me to have a gluten free meal. Everyone should try this restaurant.
This place is a rare treat since it's on the other side of town for us. However, our family will not return due to lack of options for gluten free diners.
While my Apple pancake was good, my daughter had to only eat hashbrowns (they gave her a double order) since they had no gluten free options for pancakes or bread. She could choose from eggs (which she is also allergic) grits or hashbrowns.
If you have dietary restrictions unfortunately this is not the restaurant for you.
Located in a busy retail area. The restaurant is fairly large with a bar are, outdoor seating and small waiting area. Some gluten free options. Coke products including Coke Zero. Plenty of free parking. Service was almost perfect. Loud atmosphere and chilly.
Raynaldy and Kelsey at the bar were awesome and so friendly! Made great drinks too. Food and service was great and overall the vibe was friendly and caring. Def recommend. Gluten free options
