We love Savoy Taproom!! We always make a point to stop in for dinner whenever we're in the neighborhood. This is a fantastic gem for gluten free/dietary restriction folks, as there is a dedicated gluten free fryer AND most breaded/fried items are breaded in non-gluten containing batters! This is one of the only places I can get a fried chicken sandwich, fries, fried cheese curds, etc. since I've gone gluten free. Further, the craft cocktails are exquisite, the staff knowledgeable, accommodating, and kind, and the ambience great for evening/weekend dining. I can't think of a more perfect place to celebrate date night, get togethers with close friends, or any special occasions.
The busiest bakery on the 4th of July.
Holy moly, was not expecting to see a line near out the door on the holiday weekend. But of course, such a line, must mean the quality is above and beyond impressive! Right?
Well looks-wise they certainly were. The names were hilarious, with things like millionaire tears, CE O-no!, and Trickledown. (I'm guessing they're not a fan of the current corporate climate) However, while funny, the names really didn't say what the favors were. Most of the nameplates did not describe it, they had no menu I could find inside that did, and because of how busy they were I did not want to be "that guy" and hold up the line asking about each one.
So I got a half dozen, feeling that would be a safe bet I'd find something among the ones I pick to enjoy. Of course not all of the doughnuts had silly names, which helped me pick them out, like Cinnamon bun, French toast, Strawberry frosted, etc. I even picked one of the gluten free ones, the red and blue frosted, which had a berry-like smell. All together coming to around $27, a fair but more than DD's, but hey, these were artisanal so fairs fair.
Back home I tried a wedge of each one, just to sample them and find my favorite. The French toast and cinnamon bun honestly tasted the same, super sugary, very thick with frosting, and a hefty cinnamon flavor. The strawberry was far lighter, but too much so, with a frosting that was more like a glaze. Could barely taste the fruity flavor I sought. Cinnamon sugar was nice, very thick, lots of even coverage, but the dough was so lacking in flavor that it really stuck out due to just how big the thing is. The trickledown, which is suppose to come with a shot of espresso, and I was offered one, but did not think the shot would fair well in a bready confectionary on my drive home so I declined. It was by far the most interesting, with a kind of custard interior that I imagine the espresso is poured into and slowly soaks through. The whipped topping was also nice, being real whipped cream and not more frosting. Sadly, things went sour real fast with the berry blast having a consistency of sand and a flavor of artificial fruit I could not get past. And I know it's not because it was gluten free, I've had good GF free baked goods before, this, was not it.
Overall, the experience was pleasant. The wait in line built up my anticipation, the choices were varied, and my favorite one wasn't even in a completed state. (the Trickledown) That said, just one of these bad boys really would be an entire dessert meal in and of itself. Sampling all 6, well, I'm off to enter a carb coma.
My wife, girlfriend and I visited Toro of Albany last night and the experience left us all dissatisfied. The blue corn tortillas used for the gluten free application of the chicken tacos were meely and unappetizing. The 32$ enchiladas with shrimp were 90% tortilla. Each only had 1 shrimp and very little filling. For the price tag, we expected a fantastic meal and it was not delivered. The margaritas were ok but at 15$ a piece, seemed over priced. The only bright spot was our bar tender, rob I believe. He was smart, funny, knowledgeable and overall the best part of the experience. Overall I would say visit this spot for drinks and conversation only.

I have eaten several times at City Line and I also am gluten free. I have always had Wonderful service, great tasting food, make any accommodations needed, and comfortably priced!
The bartender, Zoe, was very nice. I have Celiac Disease, and she let me know all my options on the menu. I didn't have time for a long sit-down meal, but I definitely will be back.
We always order ahead usually because prep can take a while. We love the bowls and waffles and that everything is gluten free. I have tried the new sandwiches and they are delicious!!
I would say gluten friendly, not gluten free. I have celiac disease and we have eaten here twice. First experience was good! Today’s visit was unfortunate.
I spoke to the staff about my food allergy, they seemed confident, and my food came out with the little allergen stick which made me feel extremely comfortable. Within minutes of eating (my delicious food) I was sick and in their bathroom for 44 minutes until I was good enough to make it home and be ill at home. I spoke to a staff member on my way out so they were aware and they were extremely kind about the situation.
If you choose to be gluten free or have no food allergies, great place and delicious food! Otherwise, be aware they are not able to accommodate allergies fully. Unfortunately, my family will not be back due to me getting glutened and being ill.
The establishment is spacious, catering to sizable gatherings and familial units. A delectable cheeseburger with accompanying French fries is offered. The establishment can provide gluten-free buns for both burgers and pasta dishes.
I visited this place for the first time while I was running errands and needed to stop for food. Since being gluten free (intolerance not an allergy), I'm always looking for a good gluten free pizza, their website said they had it so I stopped in. Their display of pizzas ready to go was amazing and made me miss my gluten-full days immensely! Their gluten free pizzas need to be ordered as a full pie (6 cut is their smallest) and are cooked fresh with any toppings. About 15 minutes later I had my pie and it was awesome!!! Unfortunately, it does not make good left overs, which is the case with every gluten free pizza I've tried so I did not hold it against them in this review. I do not know if they have a separate oven for their gluten free pizzas, so there may be cross contamination for those with severe sensitivity. Hope this helps!
Wow! This place is amazing!!! So many food options - literally something for everyone - American, Asian, Italian, Seafood, etc. It's like they said "everyone is doing small themed menus, so let's do the opposite!!!" I appreciate that they had a lot of gluten-free options. The food was great! Our server was awesome! And the ambiance was incredible! Open, airy, industrial, modern, bright and fun! Clean bathrooms and a huge bar. We will go back next time we are in the Albany area and highly recommend it to our friends.
The gluten-free options are plentiful and delicious! Also the server Drea is probably one of the best serves I’ve ever had. Know the menu front and back and provided impecable service! I knew I wouldn’t get glutened if she served me and I was right!!!
Food is really great

Let me start by saying we are regulars at Texas de brazil Albany, the manager Brian amazing , always friendly very accommodating, not just to us but all customers the wait staff are also great we have our favorites you know who you are 😉
From management to waiters they check in to make sure you have all you could need.
The gauchos also 👌 super friendly, ask and you shall receive the meat you like, cooked how you like it its spice just right and you can see them cooking in the open kitchen .
The salad bar is also tasty one of my favorites the shrimp salad.. it's the only shrimp I eat the texture and flavors yumm..
My son loves the lobster bisque and potatoes au gratin one of the best ever.
The restaurant's salad bar is a good option for vegetarians.
Lots of options to pick from in general from salmon multiple kinds of Cheeses, pineapple to grains, Olives, peppers and much more
The cheese bread is Gluten free and tasty the banana with cinnamon and sugar are a nice pallet Cleanser between different meats .
My family and I highly recommend eating here. The banana Foster cake is amazing! If you have a sweet tooth go for that .
We have never left unhappy or unsatisfied.
So If you like tasty meat this is a must go to restaurant.
Came because of the great reviews. The cashier was warm and attentive, and the rest of the staff were very friendly too. Unfortunately, the salmon bowl was bland with an overly sweet sauce, and the gluten-free dessert was also too sugary. Flies on the pastries didn’t help. A mixed experience—I’d probably skip it next time, but it was worth a try.
I am celiac and I have been ordering their food for 3 weeks now. It is a lifesaver not having to go through the stress of cooking every meal now and getting glutened since I live with someone who eats wheat.
We came here twice during our stay in Albany and it was great. We visited for breakfast and lunch and both times were lovely. Extremely cozy space, makes you feel at home. The quality of the food was great, very filling and tasty. Guacamole was amazing, breakfast was extremely tasty. Gluten-free accommodating as well! Mentioned that one of us could not have gluten, the owner explained and recommended items on the menu that could be accommodated. Knew about cross-contamination and informed us the bread is toasted on shared equipment so they offered to toast the bread another way that was safe. Nice to know that the ingredients are also local! The owner is very friendly and welcoming, it really was great. We'll definitely stop by when we're in the area again.
We arrived in Albany on a Sunday to find that restaurants in town were generally closed, however we discovered The City Beer Hall and fell in love with it immediately. In fact we had such a wonderful meal we returned on the following evening as well.
The menu was perfect and catered for my wife who was gluten intolerant with a number of offerings on the menu. Our choice of drinks was well catered for as well.
We loved the burgers and the peach salad we shared was perfect. We can highly recommend this wonderful that is housed in the historic old telephone company building. It was such a friendly space to dine.
Most importantly for us when we are going out is the service and care of the wait staff. We were absolutely blessed by having the gorgeous Katrina, look after us on both nights we visited for dinner. In fact it was her warmth and hospitality that made our return so easy.
Katrina explained the options available and too, extra care to make sure my wife’s gluten allergy was understood in the kitchen.
We loved both our visits and would return in a heart beat should we ever revisit Albany.
Service was phenomenal, our server did a fantastic job for our large party of 10. The food was delicious. I wish they also had gluten-free bread available when they brought bread and butter to the table for everyone. I was unable to enjoy any, and it smelled so good!
The atmosphere was pretty good. But...our table was directly next to the kitchen area and where they stacked all their dishes. So, each time any waitstaff went in/out of the kitchen or dropped off dishes, it was loud and it became difficult to hear others speaking at our table. Overall though, it was a good night.
When I stopped eating meat at 12, Wizard burger is the kind of place I dreamed of. Super cool vibes. Delicious food. Kind, passionate, wonderful people.
It's been so awesome watching these folks grow from vegan tacos served twice a week in a tiny Troy shop to becoming an Albany staple.
I sadly can't really eat here at this point because gluten cross contamination but that's not on these dudes. My mom still eats here. She calls it the ultimate treat on hard days and her vegan coworker always begs her for leftover fries.
These dudes make veganism cool. Keep it up!
Good place for a nice place to grab brunch and coffee
Nice food choices, easy vegetarian and gluten free friendly options
And even my little one loves the waffles
