Long wait to get in, but that’s how you know it’s good. Great food, came out fast and great service. I got the gluten free pancakes and they were amazing.
Felt a little rushed to order during our visit and didn’t specify how sensitive I am to cross contamination. Stopped our server to clarify and he reassured me. Ordered an NA strawberry daiquiri and he checked the ingredients and came back to confirm it is GF. I ordered the blackened grouper entree with twice baked potato and mandarin oranges. Separate GF menu. Slightly worried about daiquiri blender CC risk but had No issues after! Will be back.
My fiancé and I recently came to Destin, traveling from Ohio, and really enjoyed the Ruby Slipper Cafe! I am Celiac and he is not and we were both able to enjoy our meals! I got the breakfast sandwich and thought it was great! I got a side of avocado and their pickled onions to add a little extra to the breakfast sandwich itself and it was the perfect addition! If you go to the Destin location and have a gluten allergy, ask for Cati! She is Celiac herself and made the experience wonderful! It was very reassuring to have her know exactly what I could and couldn’t have. Cati was also just a fantastic server in general and made the entire experience incredible! If we come back to Destin, we will definitely be coming back because of Cati and the awesome food!
I went for brunch while shopping in Destin. My server was Sean who was excellent. My avocado omelet was fantastic. I am gluten intolerant so Sean made sure I got gluten free toast with my meal. I will definitely go back there again.
The entire staff provided exactly what was expected. Our table was ready at the reserved time and our server (Ana) was pleasant and attentive. Once the order was placed the wait was short and done correctly. One in our party required a gluten-free menu and Ana was familiar with that menu and double checked on one item.
The evening was very good.
It’s a must try every time I visit Destin with my family. They have so many amazing breakfast dishes, they also offer plenty of Gluten Free options which we appreciate so much. Their coffee is the best I’ve ever had! So many flavor choices!!!
We had a wonderful dinner last night, Edit took wonderful care of us, very educated about gluten free options, as well as several other staff that stopped by to make sure we were taken care of. Food delicious and while waiting ( briefly) for our dessert, Edit suggested we go out on the porch and take a pic of the sunset, gorgeous setting!
This is my favorite little coffee shop in Destin! The owners are amazing. Staff is always professional, quick, friendly. Their gluten-free sandwiches are the bomb! Coffee is made the order quick, fast, delicious! Great place!
I have celiac and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about what I could have with my dietary restrictions. This is my hubby’s favorite place to go in Destin. The baked oysters are a MUST! My 8 year old even loved them, and he is super picky! We had the mussels as an appetizer and the sauce is exquisite! Thanks for another great experience.
What a great little find off of the beaten path. My son has celiac and they have gluten-free crêpes available. He said it was amazing! Me and my daughter also enjoyed our crêpes as well as the three different types of coffee we drank. Highly recommend stopping in here for a visit if you’re in the area. Sorry, no photos because our food didn’t last that long!
Lady Ray's did my (last minute!) wedding reception cupcakes and cake. Both are wonderful, gluten-free, and a competitive price for what you get on the day. The coffee icing wasn't overwhelming or too sweet/too creamy but JUST perfect, and the cupcakes and cake were both so moist. Highly recommend them.
Due to having a gluten allergy, I was told I could order any of the sandwiches without a bun. I decided to be safe and go with the burger. On the menu it lists lettuce, tomato, and some other toppings. My burger came out as a slab of meat with melted cheese and nothing else (as seen in the picture). Add to that the fries that come with the meal are not gluten free. I was told I could substitute my side for something else but there would be a charge. They wanted to charge $8 to substitute the fries for mashed potatoes. Most restaurants when they offer a side that doesn’t meet an allergy, are kind enough to substitute it for no charge. Not this place. Add to that the waitress seemed put out with any questions asked. They were not very helpful. So, I had an overpriced extremely greasy burger patty and fries I couldn’t eat (because I wasn’t going to pay $8 for another side). I had to ask for lettuce and tomato that should have come with the burger.
The local market is one of my favorite places to regularly have breakfast or lunch. Everything is made fresh and to order. There is a complete gluten-free menu and I highly recommend the watermelon Agua Fresca.
We havebeen in to Tailfins last two friday nights. I’m celiac and have a soy allergy. Both times in we had same waitress she was very knowledgeable about gluten free items as well as the bat staff in letting me know that all their liquors r high quality. We have been back because of their knowledge for gluten free the food and drinks have been amazing. It’s extremely refreshing to eat at a place where u know they care about your food allergies. as I break out with a crumb on anything or by touching it thanks for being a restaurant that cares. We def will be back again before we head back home to ontario canada. Carol b
We chose to eat here a few times on our vacation because they offer gluten free buns and I’m celiac. I didn’t get sick at all eating here. On our last visit we encountered some issues and the manager took great care of us when we brought the issues to her attention. That’s exactly what a manager should do. It brings customers back time and time again. Great service!!
We ate at Azul on our trip to Florida this week. The owner invited us in to try the restaurant and said if we didn't like the food it would be on the house. The food was amazing. Our group tried the Azul bowls with Mahi Mahi, shrimp tacos, and quesadillas. They accommodated our gluten-free needs for two in our group. Our waitress was very friendly and the owner checked on us several times. We ate with a view of the water. It was enjoyable. I would go back no questions asked.
I am at a loss for words. Tonight’s dinner was truly an experience and one I won’t soon forget. I was recently diagnosed with celiacs so we called ahead to make sure the chef could accommodate my gluten allergy. They assured us that it wouldn’t be an issue and took note of our reservation time so that they knew when I would be there. The chef was aware and a menu was brought out to me that had markings on it as to what I could eat. There were even accommodations he could make to certain dishes to make them gluten free. The roasted beet salad was absolutely perfect. I could have eaten just that and been happy. I was also able to eat the whipped ricotta dip and the roasted crab brûlée. Instead of the naan and crostini, they brought out sliced cucumbers for me. I was so pleasantly surprised at the amount of options that I had, but I ultimately decided on the filet and bone marrow risotto for my entree. I didn’t want the meal to end. It was the best meal I’ve had since I’ve had to go gluten free. There was absolutely no room for dessert, so I can’t attest for that. Our waitress, Alise, was so wonderful in every sense. She was so kind and knowledgeable. She genuinely cared about making sure I was taken care of, as the rest of our group. I chose the watermelon strawberry margarita to drink and even that was to die for. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. I’m sad that it will probably be a year before I can come back, but it’s so comforting to know that there is a safe restaurant I could eat at when we’re in the Destin area again!
UPDATE: they have a new chef and a new menu. They no longer have the famous shrimp and grits. We both settled for steaks and scallops. The steaks were choice grade and over seasoned. This is still a great place to come for a happy hour drink and watch the sunset. Super friendly staff. Stroll down the road somewhere else for dinner though.
A highly trained staff and superb food. Provided a great anniversary experience. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits, they were prepared Louisiana style with a tomato-based sauce.
My wife had the scallops and said they were exceptional. Gluten-free is very easy here.
The online menu is completely misleading and incorrect. I went there for the mahi dinners and my daughter has gluten allergy. When we finally got seated and looked at the menu, there was no mahi available at the restaurant. We always look at the website and menus when we are traveling and are very disappointed with the Crap Trap Destin
When you have the price of a 5 star restaurant but wait staff that don’t come close. Upon sitting down, bread rolls were brought to the table. Having celiac disease, I asked if they had gluten free bread and was told no. Fine, no problem. We ordered a spicy tuna roll instead. When the sushi was brought to the table, the assistant waiter said, “but sushi is gluten free?” I’m happy to explain the ins and outs of gluten, the structure of the wheat plant, etc but honestly when paying $50/plate, I shouldn’t have to and I shouldn’t have to deal with snarky remarks. I asked him what has gluten in sushi when it is rice and fish. He then said he didn’t know what gluten was but you can’t have any bread then because it all has gluten. Yes, wheat bread has gluten. Great job. However, there about 50 other grains in which bread can be made and none contain gluten. I took the time to explain and after his last snide remark, he walked off.
We then ordered a glass of Chardonnay which still hasn’t arrived when dinner came. I asked the waitress to cancel the wine since dinner had already arrived and she very curtly informed that I hadn’t ordered wine. When I explained that we had a conversation about dryness and Chardonnay, it suddenly dawned on her that yes I had ordered wine. She comped the wine and it’s why I gave two stars instead of one. I don’t mind mistakes one bit but when her rudeness and attitude when I asked the cancel the wine was shocking.
The food was just decent. Not great and very greasy which is an accomplishment with fish and veggies. LuLu’s has food about 100 times better for half the price. We have dined at hundreds of 5* restaurants and so wanted to like Primrose but it was honestly a bad experience from start to finish. Forget the $250 bill and go ger LuLu’s.
