Food and service was i just wished the seats were cleaned the bench i sat at was stickky other than that my gluten free bread turkey and tots were delicious.

The Root Cellar Cafe is a delightful restaurant in the heart of historic downtown San Marcos. Wonderfully decorated and featuring good, healthy comfort food, it is a popular downtown spot. We ordered the salmon and pasta carbonara. The exquisite salmon with balsamic glaze was served with pilaf, sautéed vegetables, and eggplant chips. The chips were sweet and my personal favorite. The pasta carbonara was also very good. A 16-oz beer was just $7 which was also very sweet. We ended with the gluten-free Tart and Snickerdoodle bread pudding. Absolutely delicious. I need to mention that the service was very good. Our server was a delight and very attentive. Highly recommend!

The food and service is amazing. I have celiac and this is one place I feel I can truly enjoy a breakfast out. They are so careful and knowledgeable l. Great food, always hot and fresh. Only one negative and that would have to be the weak coffee. I always look so forward to coming here when I visit San Marcos.

Thanks to the Hopdoddy app we were able to try out the burger of the months for free and the Terlingua burger smacks! Lara and Carl provided excellent service. Especially when it came to making the burger gluten friendly.

Gluten free breakfast sandwich and breakfast plates were delicious. Chai latte, regular coffee and lattes are all just fair.
