This is a very clean and organized Hat Creek. The employee that greeted me was friendly and polite. I really like Hat Creek food and appreciate the gluten free chicken nuggets. My kids enjoy playing on the playground.
Today came in & ordered the calamari as brunch. We’ve ordered it many times before and most of the time it’s good but today half of it was so overcooked that it was completely hard and inedible not to mention the way that impacts flavor of what was edible. Barely ate 4 ounces of normal sized calamari slices cooked properly. Visually you could see that it was way overcooked and crumbly, I’m not sure why it would be sent out. Sadly this isn’t the first time our meal preparation accuracy and quality has been inconsistent when we’ve come in to order various items on the menu. We’ve kept trying because we are gluten free but after today it will likely be even longer before we return again.
IF YOU HAVE A GLUTEN ALLERGY - Do not eat here. Post Covid they have never updated their menus or apparently their staff. I ordered something that was supposed to be gluten free and I have celiacs disease. I asked the waiter to make sure. He said yes it is GF. I eat some and it doesn’t taste GF. I ask him and he says he isn’t sure. I tell him to check. He says it’s not. So now I have been told incorrectly and now am having a reaction. Imagine if it were deadly. Don’t expect them to know what they’re doing here. And I am now sick.
I typically eat all organic and this place is perfect when you just want to indulge in, not so healthy eating. For those with gluten issues, they offer a gluten free bun. My daughter has Celiac and I'm always checking for gluten free options when dining.
This was my first dining experience with Dan's and I must say, absolutely delicious! The flavor of my burger was spot on. The fries are lightly seasoned. But again, very tasty. Plus their prices are amazing. I wish I had gone all out and included a chocolate shake as I hear they are pretty tasty as well.
The next time I'm in the Austin area, I will definitely eat at Dan's again. And get that chocolate shake!
