So good! American vegan food blows my mind. I loved the macaroni salad, crispy tofu roll, gluten free cake cup and am excited to try the brownie tomorrow.
This place is ace. Excellent Mexican-American food, from burritos to the all-important taco. I highly recommend the barbacoa bowl or taco.
They're also attentive to gluten free needs /celiac customers. Although not a dedicated facility, they boxed and labeled our celiac (gf/df) orders separately and noted which orders were allergy on the receipt.
I went for the special Irish breakfast on a weekday shortly before St. Patrick’s Day. The corned beef dinner knocked my socks off with how smooth it was! Just really commendable that a special could be so perfect. And for just $25! Sat at the chef’s counter and saw the care and cooperation with which dishes were being prepared. Server was friendly, charming, and knowledgeable about gluten restrictions.
Service did seem a tad disorganized. I noticed plates sit on the counter for maybe 3-5 minutes before they went to tables.
The place has a really cool interior and vibe. Every time I’m here I notice some different decor behind the bar or on the wall. I love that the bar seats have skateboards on the backs of them. The bar staff is always friendly and informative. I come in for my favorite cocktail, the track suit. Bourbon, aperol, yellow chartreuse, and lemon. The menu has a lot of gluten free options, and I even had the luxury of having GF onion rings this last visit. This place is one of my favorites.
We have been coming to Pianta since they first opened. Consistently excellent food and service. No problem getting gluten-free food at the restaurant. Service staff is efficient, pleasant and seems to enjoy what they are doing. Met the chef today - she is terrific.
Highly recommended.
Hi had the pleasure of having Hernan serve my friend and I last night! He was very knowledgeable about the menu. My friend had gluten allergies and Hernan was very helpful . Thank you for your great service!
Had a great experience here. I came on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn’t too busy or loud, experienced great customer service and had some lovely cocktails. Would definitely return. The guac and salsa were so good!
I came here with someone who is gluten free and they had a great selection of options too.
My fiance and I came to have dinner on Friday night and as soon as we walked in the door I could tell that we were going to have a hard time that night. The host at the door was not friendly and gave attitude to all people around her and was even talking bad right in front of the people that were waiting. When we sat down we waited at least 8 minutes until someone greeted us. The server was in such a rush that she did not give the time of day to tell us about the food with a smug face. I asked her about some gluten-free options And she just brushed me off and said they didn't have any tonight. I ended up getting a piece of salmon that was still uncooked in the middle and when I sent it back I did get another attitude from the server which was totally unnecessary. We don't get out a lot on our date nights and we would like to enjoy a nice dinner every once in awhile I'm a very disappointed in my experience I hope that you can train your employees a little bit more because clearly most of them don't care. I probably would not return again which is very unfortunate because it's one of our favorite restaurants.
CAV Restaurant is a thoughtful place. Every component of the restaurant seems to be articulately assessed. "Everything in it's place" feels like a proper phrase for this restaurant. The antiquities that surround the dining tables are a severe example of the decorator's style. There are places in Providence that mix small business and museum, this is one of those places.
The menu had a selection that doesn't feel as limited as other niche restaurants. The selection did include gluten-free labeling for those who have the need. The Parmesan Encrusted Free Range Chicken Breast was delicious. The portion size was enough, for a fast metabolism, you may want to order appetizers.
I like to judge a place by it's presentation of a Caesar Salad. Some places look like they threw a bunch of lettuce leaves onto a place and smatter some cheese on top, with a sneeze of Caesar dressing. CAV was not this place. We ordered the salad without croutons, and it was delicious. There was some baked parmesan on top of the salad that added to the flavor. The dressing was light enough that it did not overpower the other flavors, such as the lettuce and the cheese.
The cocktails were excellent! I ordered the Silver and Gold Margarita, they were flavorful and highlighted the taste of the tequila without the taste of the alcohol. A very unique aspect.
CAV is a place where I am curious about it all. When observing all of the artifacts, and the actual space that the restaurant was in, it tells a very cool story. I recommend taking the time to make a reservation and enjoy the time spent there. It is a wonderful thing for CAV to be in Providence!
Really great experience here! Jackie was a fantastic waitress - very kind and welcoming - and we loved the bacon/omelets/toast/homefries. More flavorful than typical diner fare. Also they had gluten free bread! 10/10
Stopped here late on a Saturday afternoon and there was still a very good selection of desserts. I got the blueberry lemon bomb, blackberry and champagne gluten free cupcakes. The blueberry bomb was incredible and worth the high price of $10. I was less impressed with the blackberry cupcake as it was a little dry and the frosting not very sweet. The champagne cupcake was a pleasant surprise as some of the GF stuff I’ve got in the past (other bakeries) just weren’t good. This cupcake was super moist and flavorful. Will definitely be returning here for more delectable goodies!
I’ve been a member of the wine club for almost a year. Great monthly wine choices, great atmosphere! When I have been there for lunch, great gluten-free (I’m non-celiac) options!
My niece and I came to try the matcha latte and she got herself a chocolate croissant. I have a gluten allergy, so there weren't any options I felt comfortable eating. But I really appreciated that the barista cleaned all the equipment before making my latte. My niece really enjoyed her chocolate croissant, it looked magnificent. The vibes were also immaculate, it really felt like a European cafe. We'll be back!
Bellini, great atmosphere, great food, if you don’t have allergies. My friends and I went there for a birthday dinner, and my friend has celiac (she cannot have gluten). We were very clear with our waitress she had this severe food allergy, and when asked about the gluten free option our waitress said the was gluten free spaghetti. But when asked about the tortellini (spinach and feta), our waitress said they could make them gluten free.
When we got home, my friend started throwing up and getting very sick. At first we thought it was cross-contamination, so I called the restaurant. When I asked the man at the phone, he had said that was not the case and they cannot make the tortalini gluten free. He had asked for who served us, but we did not remember her name, just the area we were in. He had said she has been there for a long time now and there was “miscommunication”. I am not sure how stating someone (and who) has celiac that could’ve been lost in translation.
Hopefully this does not happen to anyone else.
Such a cute little bakery! I love the vibes here, very coordinated colours and decor, super friendly staff, and of course, delicious pastries! I had the chocolate chip banana bread (gluten-free), and the gluten-free cookies to go. A lovely spot to grab pastries to go, or to stay, and sit in one of the window seats. I can't wait to come back.
Delicious crepes, has the Campania and is really good. Wish they had maple syrup but the sweet crepes look good. They have gluten free for both sweet and savory crepes.
Busy and lively place! Didn’t get a drink but matcha looked very good, would definitely try that next time. I got the pesto smash with pesto, egg, avocado and green and it was delicious. Gluten free can be accommodated on the toasts, wraps and sandwiches which is great.
My boss always brings me a large White Lightning extra sweet almost every weekend at work, their coffee is AMAZING 🥰 And today I finally got to try the food! I ordered a gluten free bagel with extra cream cheese (they put extra cream cheese! Most places I go to never hear me out about my extra cream cheese! They put the perfect amount! ) and then my 8 month pregnant self ordered the ham sandwich on a gluten free bagel. Every ingredient was so FRESH and amazing. The tomatoes were perfect! The micro greens were so fresh! The ham was great, the perfect amount of Mayo and mustard. Gah! It was wonderful. I've never been to the location and today was the first time and wow, the ambience, the vibe it was amazing! I'm so glad I'm only a 5 minute walk away now! Definitely recommend!!!
Amazing staff, bartender was amazing wait staff was amazing all orders were right on spot even when we requested dairy free/gluten free for our dinner. Iris is amazing!!
This is our “we need lunch/dinner and we need it to be healthy, quick and damn good” go-to. Their bowls are filling, delicious and made with quality ingredients. I have a gluten allergy and they are wonderfully accommodating for that as well. Staff are always exceptional and super sweet. You can see the dedication and passion in every inch of this space. Providence is fortunate to have a spot like this, not to mention the owners give back and support their community. What are you waiting for? Just order online! You won’t be disappointed.
I want to love this place. Great location. But the drink menu is laughably outdated ( 2000's Red Sox players ?)
My sangria was a tiny glass of wine and peachtree, for $16. Food is ok , but it's 2024, time to keep some gluten free buns in the freezer, I will overpay for it.
Cool neighborhood-y diner place. Juicy egg breakfast sandwiches and fried chicken sandwiches. They don’t have gluten free bread options but they made my sandwich on a bed of thick steak fries and it hit home. 😋💙
*breakfast hours are Saturday-Sunday 9-11:30
Anyone with food allergies should avoid this establishment. They have a few denotations on the menu, FL being flourless/wheatless. When I inquired about one of those dishes (grape leaves) and asked if it was fully gluten free, he said he couldn’t guarantee it because it had rice, and he suggested the tabbouleh instead. I understand about the rice, as it could be grown next to a wheat field. But, tabbouleh has bulgar wheat in it, which is gluten. To direct me from a cross contamination dish to a fully gluten dish was concerning. I ordered an iced hibiscus tea to go (which was very nice) and headed out.
