I have a gluten allergy and yesterday I decided to get dinner at Pub 500. I called the restaurant ahead of time to confirm gluten-free options and procedures. The person I talked to was very polite and answered all my questions. When I got there, I talked to the server about my restrictions for cross-contamination and she was extremely nice and asked the kitchen directly about the specific things I asked her about. Fryers are a big cross-contamination point, so I stressed I could not have anything from the fryers and she assured me the side I picked, chips, would be safe. My order came out, and the food was delicious, but after eating a few chips, I started to realize they tasted hot and oily. When I asked to confirm they were not from the fryer they sent someone else to tell me, it was indeed a fried item. When I tried to express the cross-contamination importance I was met with a response about the type of oil they used which had nothing to do with it. My entire plate was contaminated, so I asked them to remake it with a different side. The rest of the meal was great, but I was disappointed to see nothing was comped on the bill, and I even had an up-charge for the replacement side I got. I completely understand that people make mistakes and things happen, but when you work in the food industry it's important to be aware of common food allergies as well as the food you're serving. I would've liked to see more accountability from the people who I explained my situation to especially because I had said specifically what my restrictions were.

We are so in love with this place! Came here on a Sunday morning as the sun was streaming through the top windows. The feel is so amazing. We are dairy and gluten free, and although they do not have gluten free bread to sub in, we were able to compose an amazing plate of potato fritter, with arugula, roasted mushroom, tomatoes, avocado, and a poached egg. Magnificent! Our conventional food family members also enjoyed steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and eggs Benny. A perfect ending to our Mankato weekend. Thank you to all of the staff at Nolabelle!

Loved it! Yummy! And 100% gluten-free! Two things that would make it better: - offer samples of the base flavors since the kids didn’t end up liking all the flavors they chose - huge missed opportunity to not have color-changing spoons that turn a cool color when they get cold
