This was an awesome place!! The waiter was super educated regarding celiac restrictions, he was able to mark everything on the menu that we could or not eat and tell us all the changes they could make. Food was excellent and overall a great experience.
On the plus side, it has a separate menu for both gluten-free and vegetarian options, which is a real plus.
The reason I'm not giving it more stars is because the waitresses aren't very friendly and the place is smoky, leaving the (unpleasant) smell on your clothes. On the other hand, the gluten-free noodle dish didn't contain any noodles, and the menu didn't mention it.
This is my all time favorite for gluten free breakfast in Belfast. Their vegan gluten free fry is delicious and super filling. I have gluten and dairy allergies and this place caters for both, 10/10.
I never normally leave a review for anywhere but I am obsessed with this place 😍!For so many reasons, I am coeliac and have dined breakfast lunch brunch and dinner and the options are amazing and delicious. The staff are superb so so kind so knowledgeable and lovely girl even reassured me that they use separate everything to make my meal and hoped I wouldn’t be worried ! I have been coeliac for 10 and a half years and never have I had so much reassurance from somewhere which is amazing as I feel so normal and relaxed which is rare when going out to eat with an allergy .The food is lovely so much choice which again is rare ! And it’s cheap what more could you want . This location is my favourite in Belfast as I have been to another one but the staff weren’t the same couldn’t recommend more ❤️
Right next door to the Ulister Hall, this chic and hip cafe is eye-catching and attention getting right from the outside glass windows to all the art walls. The service was great. The staff was friendly and the gluten-free scone, which we couldn't find anywhere else in all of Ireland, was delicious. It's baked fresh daily on-site and comes with jam and clotted cream.
i said i was gluten intolerant from the moment i walked in, when i ordered my food and asked if the soup was gluten free it seemed majorly out of the servers way to do that for me, she said she’d ask. She never came back, ordered the soup and fries i asked for, not letting me know if they were gluten free or not. had to ask a different server to go and check twice about the fries and soup, after they had arrived. I wasn’t given the soup options it was chosen for me, again not knowing at this point if it was gluten free. I didn’t feel that welcome by who was serving me and i’m pretty sure i was over charged. Everyone else lovely and lovely cafe but i didn’t enjoy my time there.
Excellent place with great atmosphere, service and food. They were very welcoming to me and my dog. Good gluten free options on menu and they even have a doggy menu!
Amazing food & service every time here! Delicious menu with great options and a willingness to make adjustments for various dietary requirements, including veggie, gluten-free, and with a dedicated vegan menu. And also picture-perfect presentation! Upbeat, friendly atmosphere, tunes on the go, and if you're lucky, you might have a wee doggie seated nearby! The effort that goes into this place is evident and I'm pretty certain that anyone who gives it a try soon becomes a regular.
Had our wedding anniversary celebration here. Loved it.
Food.... steak amazing and reflective of the price...probably the best I've had so far.
Wife was happy with the curry dish.
Good menu with very good gluten free options
Desserts very good too
Drinks...great choice of beers, wines and cocktails.
Staff...waiting staff are great. Funny but sincere and very interactive
Surroundings...we sat wondering what the building was before...like years ago as it is modern but has kept the old coving and plaster faces at the ceiling.
Kitchen staff punctured to look after everyone as you can clearly see them working away but overall a brilliant atmosphere.
Five star in my book.
I will be back very soon.
Thanks for making our anniversary a memorable one.
If you're in belfast you have to go to maggie mays for lunch, they have 3 locations with the nicest staff and best food. A wide variety of vegetarian, vegan and also gluten free food is provided. Definitely one of Belfast's most iconic cafes. They provide a range of food so there will definitely be something for everyone!
Called into Maudes to check if they had a gluten free menu..They had GF sourdough so I ordered an open sandwich and my wife had corn fritters. We waited a while but the place was busy and it was worth the wait. The food was delicious and there was loads of it.Great value. The staff are lovely too..we will be back.
Cyprus Avenue is hands down my favourite place for a Sunday lunch in East Belfast. The menu, presentation, service, ingredients are creative, fresh and flawless. Seafood and vegan options are spot on. My celiac friend has never had any issues with GF and DF options. Coffee is great with dairy free alternatives. I love their outdoor seating on a sunny day. Honestly, it's a joy to be there from 'hello' to 'see you soon'. Roadside parking is the only little thing I could do without; it's hard to find a spot nearby on a busy day. Five stars overall. (Sorry, no pics atm. I'm always so excited to eat there that I dig in straight away. I'll have to remember to take some photos next time :)
Just had a lunch with friends for my husband’s birthday. The service was good and good choice on the menu, including gluten free for me. Highly recommend.
I'm coeliac and I went to order something I was told was gluten free only to have them return a few times to tell me things in it weren't actually gluten free. Then I was told I could only substitute things if I was going to pay for then as add ons. This greatly increased the price. Also was extremely salty
Incredible .
Total carnivore . Would never have believed such wizardry was possible with plants to produce such awesome flavours . Superb for gluten free . Shockingly good .
The quality of food is excellent. It is well cooked and presented.
They manage to provide a huge number of varied meals well.
Service is very good and attentive.
We had a gluten free diner with us and they were very helpful and spent time ensuring she felt well provided for and secure in their processes.
It can be loud which might be off putting for some. There were two large groups celebrating when we were there. The staff coped with them well.
Gluten and Dairy free= YES. This little place has gluten free toast and diary free ( vegan cheese). They are very accommodating and willing to substitute things that will be safe for special dietary needs.
I had the Titanic burger with GF bread and Vegan cheese. Very good. BUT the thing that made my day was their dairy free (Vegan) shakes. I have not had a shake in years. This was super good.
The young women serving us were friendly and helpful. Highly recommen you check this little place out.
Gots meselfs a yummy SCRUMMY latte and gluten-free scones. Had an incredible selection of tasty treats and good milk options too for spicing up your coffee drinking experience if you fancy!!! Was absolutely yummers!! Very friendly staff and great service! Yummers! #yum #yum #yum
My wife decided to go to Frankie & Benny's after shopping. She had been when they first opened a long time ago. The food pricing on the menu seemed fair, considering costs at other vendors. However when the food arrived, it was a culture shock, it was frozen skinny fries out of a packet, frozen onion rings out of a packet. My son's burger is from the gluten free menu, so I understand how difficult it, but it was also a frozen burger pattie, in a frozen bun. Honestly the only thing that I'm thinking had any technical attachment was the chicken melts with cheese & bacon, unfortunately it was cooked that long it was like nawing beef jerky. Avoid like the plaque, don't waste your money, almost £50, for this food from the 90's, disgraceful even charging for this kind of food. My advice is get a proper chef. Someone who takes a bit of pride in there cookery skills & knowledge.
We went here Saturday passed. As a whole we were very disappointed. Initially we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who was funny and quick to seat us and get menus. The problem laid with the quality of the food and lack of understanding around celiac disease.. my mum was served twice, her main and dessert with gluten. We confirmed prior to ordering things were gf and when the meals came down. The main was taken away straight away, but obviously had to wait while the rest of us ate for a fresh meal. Secondly the dessert which was ordered. We asked the waitress to check it was definitely gluten free and she came back and said yes.. on arrival of said dessert we asked again if it was gf.. and we were told yes. Soo a few mouthfuls in the gentleman who seated us and rushed over and took the dessert of my mum explaining that it was not gf!! We are grateful that the gentleman came over and removed the dish and apologized for the mistake. Mums meal, everyone's drinks and desserts were not charged, which was a lovely gesture. However in a whole the food and service was not up to where it should be for the prices being charged. Dirty cutlery, foggy glasses etc..
Very nice food, reasonably priced, considering at the main tourist attraction.
Around half the menu is or can be gluten free - even had gluten free carrot cake and trifle.
If you want something a bit different, this is the place to try. Great atmosphere set in St Georges market overlooking the stalls. Concise menu, offering a alternative breakfast, good fish, meat and vegetarian choices, gluten free also. Toilets are very clean and modern.
Food was good. Allergens are clearly marked on the menu which is always helpful. They had quite a few gluten free options. Love the kitsch interior design. Very generous cheese board that we struggled to finish!
Good choice of cakes and deserts, which my family enjoyed. Choice of gluten free deserts isn't great but good to have a choice of vegan ice creams and dairy free alternative milk for hot drinks.
I got the gluten free burger and chips. Clearly nobody who works there has tasted the bap. You can easily steam gluten free baps and then fry them or grill them- it only takes a minute - and you absolutely need to do this in order to make them edible. The gf bap was like eating a stale bap. Absolutely no trouble was gone to to make this a good gf burger. Chips were just average. The dessert was good- the gf chocolate coconut dessert was actually tasty. But I wouldn't go back.
Brilliant service by a lady with dark hair and tattoos, presumably a supervisor. She was very attentive to all of our needs, and was able to help me find a delicious gluten free option on the menu, which is surprisingly hard done usually! She was able to talk me through what foods would or would not be suitable for me, depending on my level of gluten intolerance. I had dirty fries and 7up, which was £10 per person with a value deal on. I will definitely be back :) amaz experience
I visited Fuel last week with a friend, and had a really great lunch. The interior is very modern and friendly, and the staff made us feel welcome. The food was delicious, I would really recommend the falafel wrap for veggies- they have loads of other options for veggies, vegans, and some gluten free options too. We tried a fresh juice and smoothie and I couldn't recommend them enough!
Mouth watering sandwiches. We ordered some grub between our wedding ceremony and dinner. They did not disappoint. Extremely good value for the amount of work they put in. Excellent variety. They provide gluten free options also. Thanks again. Aislinn & Shane
