Yes, it is very touristy and you are invited in by a gentleman in front of the business, but it is not pushy and the staff is very friendly. Good menu (despite the pictures of dishes on the menu) and many gluten-free options, including pizza, pasta and bread. Great place for lunch with a nice view of the harbor and to watch people walking by.

We were here 3 times and that probably says something about the fact that we were relatively satisfied considering all the restaurants in the area. The place was recommended as we have a daughter with celiac disease and they delivered here with both gluten-free pizza and pasta. The staff are very pleasant and do everything to make you feel comfortable. Be prepared for it to take some time to get the food

Taverna Harakas – A Culinary Gem in Crete
Simply wow! Taverna Harakas is a true highlight in Crete – a place where you immediately feel welcome. The atmosphere is informal, warm, and incredibly cozy. You can sit outside under the vines or inside in the lovingly decorated dining room – it's simply a place to feel at home.
The food is exceptionally good! Everything is freshly prepared with high-quality ingredients and lots of love. From grilled fish to tender lamb to vegetarian specialties – every dish was a delight. What's particularly impressive is that they cater very carefully to any food intolerances. Even if you have celiac disease, you can eat here without worry – the staff is very knowledgeable and caters to individual requests. A huge plus!
The service is fast, attentive, and yet incredibly warm. You can tell that the entire team is passionate about what they do. There's a wonderful, family-like atmosphere – you feel more like you're with friends than in a restaurant.
In short: If you're looking for authentic Cretan cuisine, genuine hospitality, and an all-around harmonious experience, this is the place for you. Highly recommended – we'll definitely be back!
Nice outdoor area. Various glutenfree options and friendly staff :) also vegetarian and vegan options so everyone can find something to eat! Prices are okay, too.
We had a lovely dinner. The service and the food was absolutely great! Our daughter has celiac disease, but this was no problem as she enjoyed a glutenfree pasta carbonara. Really enjoyed it and will come back for more. Thanks Zepos team!

I found this cafe with lots of gluten-free options, I had a toast with avocado and orange juice and it felt good. There are several other types of breakfast with gluten-free options.

One of the few places in the port of Chania that offers gluten-free dishes and beer. A very nice gentleman who drives the customers, who does not forget about them once he convinces them to choose this place. Food for 4, because gluten-free can be better, but it is not bad. If we ever come back to Chania, we will definitely find it here.
Very delicious food. The pizza is amazing. My wife really enjoyed it. And, best of all, you can eat gluten-free here!

There are gluten-free options. Menu must be changed to accommodate allergy information. In fact they have numerous GF options but it is not noted in the menu. The logic is "dishes that don't have flour in it are GF," it is okay for this place because they have good communication. Make sure you ask.
Super good experience! We had a glass of wine while we waited (only 5 min, even though they said 10-15). Delicious appetizers with dips and gluten-free bread – really tasty. The waiter even offered extra bread for free. The main course was big and good, and we took leftovers home. We got dessert wine and ice cream for the bill, and they had allergies under control. The staff was friendly, attentive, and seemed happy even though it was busy. They don't try to pull people in from the street, which creates a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Great service. Very fast and very friendly. The food was delicious. We were there several days and always enjoyed it. Large portions and a great atmosphere. Vegan and vegetarian options available. Even gluten-free.

Menu was different than online so I was a bit disappointed. Opted for a chicken and vege dish which was delicious! Menu is marked gluten free but not many options. Complimentary dessert afterwards!

So much so we went four times in our two weeks.
The ambience is just perfect with the food exquisite, both in taste and presentation, coupled with the most prompt professional service makes for fabulous memory box moments.
A big bonus for some diners is they cater for Gluten Free diners with very extensive options.
All the staff are just wonderful but I have to make a special mention about Dana who I would have working for me any day!
As It is a very popular restaurant booking is the best option to guarantee a table during the busy months.

Such a lovely experience and absolutely blinding food! We came here quite a few times over our holiday and it was excellent every single time. They also do gluten free pasta you just have to ask for it. Not one complaint. They do get very busy so either book or be prepared to wait a bit but the wait is totally worth it!
Location a bit on the noisier side. We ordered to share greek salad and gluten free pizza. The Greek salad was fantastic, but the pizza scampi could've had more filling and sauce. Extremely clean toilets.

Great food, nice surroundings, and great service. Unlike many other restaurants here, Notos is not by the main road and offers a quiet atmosphere.
Also a good restaurant for celiacs and other that don't want gluten in their food.
Beautiful spot near the beach with a nice view. Service was excellent and there were many vegan and gluten free options clearly indicated on the menu. The food was pretty good, and after a long hike through Samaria Gorge, very welcome.
Incredible little restaurant all gluten free food is labelled my coeliac husband had no issues with his gluten free mea. Well worth the visit especially to the outside garden!
Love it! Great food. Love the fact they serve brunch all day! Nice ambience and beautiful lake view! But it's about time they included gluten free bread or pasta in the menu! It's 2025 and Greece still is a bit behind. It will help many people with allergy or celiac disease to be able to feel they have choices to enjoy good food.

I am a celiac and struggle to find somewhere to eat on holiday safely. After reading the reviews we thought we would try. The food is amazing so so good. They were really knowledgeable and careful and i felt safe eating there. I can’t recommend this place enough. The staff are lovely and the portions are big as well.
Me Nou & Krasi Restaurant in Chania is a place that is definitely worth visiting during your stay in Crete. The restaurant is located right on the beach of Nea Chora, offering beautiful views of the sea and sunsets, which creates a unique atmosphere for both a romantic dinner and a family lunch.
The menu is based on traditional Cretan cuisine - you will find fresh fish, seafood, local meats, as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes. Many people praise the large portions, very good quality of the dishes and affordable prices.
The restaurant also offers gluten-free options.
I definitely don't recommend this place, even though it seems nice and it's nice there, unfortunately the food leaves a lot to choose from, the pasta declared as gluten-free was probably not 99% sure, and the seafood served in this pasta was stale, which caused constant vomiting for the next few days. 10 hours and very bad food poisoning, I don't recommend it to anyone. I thought it was suspicious that the waiter asked twice if I was sure I was gluten intolerant and that something would happen to me when I ate it, but unfortunately the light didn't come on strong enough to give up.
Exciting dishes and a good selection. Possibility of gluten-free bread/baguette for hamburgers, and gluten-free beer. Pleasant staff, great view to the sea, and clean toilets. Great place for brunch and lunch. Recommended!
