Separate gluten-free menu, many options, great procedures, bring gluten-free food out separately. A really fun atmosphere and a great dining experience.

My goal is to find the best clam or seafood chowder. The thicker, the better. I was excited to see it was gluten-free, which tells me that it is not thickened with flour. It was pretty thin. The flavor was good, but I'm picky. The rest of the food was pretty good. Fish tacos, tuna BLT and gluten-free flat bread were very tasty.

Somehow my husband scored last minute dinner reservations to the oldest restaurant in the US! We ended up with 5:30 dinner reservations on 10/23/2021. Running since 1673, the White Horse Tavern exudes history. If these walls could talk! We were seated upstairs next to a beautiful open window overlooking the street. I kept looking out of the window thinking about how many hundreds of people throughout time gazed through this window. Because we made reservations ahead of time, staff was able to accommodate my Celiac gluten-free requirements. My husband and I ordered: Pork Belly with brussel sprouts - $14.00 Pork Osso Bucco- $36.00 1 Cup Rhode Island Clam Chowder - $7.00 Crispy Duck Breast - $38.00 Champagne Cocktail - $12.00 Orange Vanilla Creme Brulee -$9.00 French Press Coffee - $6.00 Subtotal - $122.00 State Tax - $8.54 Meal & Beverage Tax - $1.22 Total - $131.76 It's February 1, 2022 and I still remember how INCREDIBLE the brussel sprouts and champagne cocktail were. These were such a highlight and a must order. The Rhode Island Clam chowder in clear broth was something I'd never experienced before but it was gluten free so I decided to give it a try. There was nothing that special about it, but may be a good thing to try just to say you tried it. The one thing that really put a damper on the meal was the table in front of us. It was a table of 4 horrid women celebrating a birthday. They were talking 10x louder than everyone else, bad mouthing and gossiping about people they know who apparently have eating disorders and those people's relationship troubles. Other diners and I were exchanging glances because it was incredibly obnoxious and off-putting. I honestly wish that staff would have asked them to either keep it down or leave, as it really ruined the ambiance. Other than the rude women who acted like monsters, the dinner and service were nice. This is a must try restaurant for the history alone. Definitely get reservations as those who walked in and wanted to just go to the bar were turned away at the door.
