Discovered this place on Tik Tok by a previous guest. Placed this on my must do - to do list to come to when adventuring on my 10 day Oregon roadtrip. Very hard to find places that are “true healthy” restaurants when traveling. Stopped in solo 5-30-25 post breakfast hours but before lunch. Was greeted by Cash - SO NICE, great personality!!!! suggestions were made but ultimately I decided to have the Vegan “tuna” chickpea salad sandwich. I had already had breakfast but wanted a light lunch before going hiking. (Had kitchen cut in half for me to take remainder on my hike). Loved the bread (almost sure and hoping it was gluten free) that was toasted lightly but not so hard it was like a crouton. The side soup was a vegetable type soup. Wow! Seasonings were on point with the sandwich and the soup. Bathroom was clean. ONLY THING that had me sad was no souvenir sticker. I travel all over the US frequently and enjoy collecting stickers. I don’t need cups, shirts when traveling. Please consider getting stickers. If I ever come back to Portland area. Hands down you will have a repeat customer coming back. Thank you!!

Friendly gluten free restaurant with an excellent selection of food, ciders and cocktails. It’s so reassuring to know they use quality ingredients and really care about their product. My only suggestions are to have a slightly more affordable can beer selection and to make sure food isn’t too hot as I burned my mouth unbelievably bad while eating a chicken sandwich.

A funky, down home place with excellent pizza. Extensive traditional and vegan pizza menu. Gluten free desserts. The crust hits that perfect combination of crispness and doughiness. Old time video machines and board games. Almost a dive, but the pizza is gourmet.

Vegan celiac here! I’m lucky Red Robin is my husband’s favorite restaurant, because they always know how to make sure I eat well and safely. Shout out to our server Hana for tonight’s dinner! Our party had a bunch of dietary requirements and she handled it great, went back to the kitchen multiple times to make sure we all got what we needed.

Atmosphere is nice. Service was lovely. Food was not great. Both the gluten free pasta I had and the spaghetti that my husband had tasted bland like something you’d get from a jar and throw together at home when you didn’t feel like cooking. Salad was good though. Disappointed with the cost for what we actually got.

The fact that this place does gluten free fried chicken with a DEDICATED FRYER has me hooked. I love having that knowledge that this space will be somewhere I can safely eat without worry! Delicious chicken cooked in a great sauce. Quick service for a Saturday afternoon as well. Very happy about that! Space inside is pretty small, so I definitely recommend opting to sit outside. The burger was cooked to medium, and was very juicy. Cocktails were also excellent. This place has a great happy hour menu as well if you find yourself searching the more budget friendly option. So many gluten free options to chose from on this menu, I would definitely recommend!

Such a great experience, every time. The sushi is always so flavorful and fresh. As someone with an extreme gluten allergy, it’s nice to be able to eat anything without worrying about gluten-poisoning.

Nestled in the first floor of the Embassy Suites in downtown Portland, this very active hub has a lot to live up to. Serving great food and spirits with quality one would expect at much higher end establishments. It's very active and lively, so not the best option for a quiet experience, but fantastic if you want some of the highest quality for a surprisingly low cost. I ordered the frittata with potatoes, that came with a choice of toast. I requested gluten free bread, a side of sausage, and an Irish pick me up, (Irish coffee with an extra kick of espresso). All of which exceeded my expectations. I'm glad I stopped in, and I'm sure you will be too. However, expect a short wait as I'm not the only one that feels so highly of this spot.

I was in town visiting a friend who has a severe gluten allergy and I found Bamboo Sushi on the gluten free app. Looked into it and made a reservation. Informed the server of the allergy and she said there were only 2 items with gluten. One was the burger but could likely be substituted with lettuce instead of the bun and another was an option garnish. Even the tempura is gluten free which is very rare. We decided to get Wasabi Honey Chicken and Smashed Avocado crispy rice as an appetizer. The chicken was really good, had some heat/spiciness, but excellent flavor. The Smashed Avocado crispy rice was really good too but we both liked the chicken more. She got the Unicorn sushi and asked for eel sauce, and I went with the green machine which is vegetarian and asked for spicy aioli. We both really enjoyed the food and we ended with the Matcha panna Cotta. I'm not a fan of matcha so it wasn't for me, but she really enjoyed it. We enjoyed the food so much we came back 2 nights later with her Aunt and ordered chicken karaage for an appetizer (no picture). She got the garden of Eden Sushi and the Friday the 13th sushi and enjoyed both but I think she likes the Friday the 13th better. I got the chili garlic chicken with steamed rice which was very tasty. And her Aunt got the grilled octopus (no picture) and said it too was delicious. Highly recommend checking Bamboo Sushi out. It's a small restaurant and can be a little cramped but the food is delicious!

Cute little vegan spot. Love they clearly list what is gluten free & soy free! I ordered the golden dragon curry which was a nice portion size for the price and tasted lovely.

We met here with out of town friends on April 30, 2024; three of us are from Hawaiʻi, so it was the perfect place to meet. The food was wonderful! I had the guava chicken, which was broke da mouth, and my friend had the teriyaki ahi, which she said was perfect and was so happy that all of their shoyu is gluten free. Hubby had the Sweet & Sour Veggie Stir Fry, which he really liked. We were so busy talking that I forget what my other friend had! He pronounced it delicious. The mac salad was fantastic! Our server was outstanding! (I wish I knew his name.) He made sure we were well taken care of, was friendly and helpful, and made us feel extremely welcome. Highest praise to him; he's a real asset to the restaurant. We were there for two hours, and had so much to catch up on, but our server never rushed us. He took photos for us at our request, and did a great job with that, too. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Everything about our time there was terrific!

Wonderful vegan cheese and thicker gluten free crust that has great flavor 🤩 The service is amazing. You will not find sweeter people to wait on you and answer all ypur questions. We will definitely be back! My husband got the chicago deep dish (regular style) and loved it! This was a great find.

When we were traveling from out of town we stopped here based on reviews and menu designations that they had gluten free and dairy free options as she has a gluten allergy and I am breastfeeding a baby with a dairy allergy. Unfortunately, they are not allergy friendly. I got a second slice of pizza after my first and watched them heat it… nearly touching a slice with cheese, and then used the same peel to take both out of the oven, definitely contaminating my slice, and then my mom got symptoms of gluten exposure after eating. If you do not have allergies and prefer to eat dairy free or gluten free this place is good enough, but it is NOT SAFE for people with allergies.

EDIT / UPDATE: The general manager reached out to me immediately to figure out what happened, which I really appreciated. We figured out that their online POS system had a flaw that made effective order communication difficult (specifically when editing an order before checking out). They are diligently looking into the issue to get it resolved, and offered to refund me the amount for the item I ordered that came as a burrito instead of a bowl. My experience now has been improved drastically thanks to their commitment to improvement and customer satisfaction. Thank you again for resolving this so quickly and effectively, JoLa! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I want to give this place a higher rating but I’m a little frustrated with their online ordering experience. I did my best to pick certain options when editing each item in the online ordering section, but some of my choices apparently did not save correctly (as my receipt reflects a different choice than I actually made — and I triple checked my choices). For example, I asked for one of the items as a bowl instead of a burrito (which is an option they offer). In the receipt though, it says I chose a burrito. I even wrote a note in the “note to restaurant” section when ordering to ensure that it went through correctly (I wrote to them that I chose this particular dish as a bowl, not a burrito, as I try to limit my gluten intake otherwise I get sick). I also chose to add sausage and I got bacon. So while it seems that their online ordering platform may be to blame, I did preface my preference for the bowl versus burrito and it shows up on the receipt, yet they neglected to pay attention to it. It’s disappointing. The food is good though. I’d give that 4 stars. Would love for this to be resolved.

Lydia was our server tonight and she took such great care of us, we felt like we were her own kids the way we were chatting it up tonight. She is so personable and fun. The food was spectacular! Nearly everything on this menu is actually gluten free and I was unafraid to eat 90% of this menu! Gorgeous restaurant and actually used to be a speakeasy within the area. Expand your pallet and give the Lebanese tour a chance, it’s a little bit of everything and really gives you the chance to taste it all. Really was the perfect meal for two to share and fills you up. Make sure to mention if you do have a gluten allergy as they can provide you with pita chips so you’re still included in having a dipping item for all the great sauces you will endure. Definitely will be back.

I came here for my bday and the staff was absolutely wonderful! The food was mind blowing and I loved every moment at this place! When you put out good energy you get it back and this place was everything and more! I will be bringing everyone I know back especially cus its gluten and dairy free! This place is great. I think if I didn't have to be gluten free it would be amazing. Since I am, I'm saying it was good/great. (Wish they had Tamari!) Beautiful restaurant interior. I don't love having to stand in line to order as sometimes the lines are really long but maybe it's different now that things are more open post pandemic. The outdoor booths are cute but I haven't sat in them yet. Drinks are excellent too!!

Fantastic pasta and pizza. Inside you’ll encounter an old school vibes retro bar with handsome chairs. Great take out with the best hand rolled gnocchi’s, small dough dumplings boiled and rolled into a delicious sauce. Also my favorite gluten free crust for pizza in Portland, Oregon!

I keep walking by this spot and I finally went in to grab some of their brunch sandwiches to go. They had a really solid gluten free option for my partner and we liked it so much we went back for dinner! The empanadas were incredible and so many bonus points for the gluten free options. Will definitely be back!

My first meal at Besaw's was in 1995 when it was located on NW 23rd, I remember vividly the excellent trout special I had for lunch that day, my first week of graduate school. Brunch was a semi-regular occurrence throughout the twenty-teens. We had not been back since the restaurant had closed due to the pandemic. Perhaps we arrived on a "off day" because the food just wasn't up to the previously high standard we can to expect from Besaw's. My wife had the Crab cake eggs benedict but her potatoes were so overcooked they were inedible (see photos), thankfully the potatoes on my dish, the Eggs & Steak weren't as overdone. The steak was decent but not spectacular, having asked for it to be cooked medium but receiving a well cooked piece of meat. To the cook staff's defense it was a thin steak, so well done was inevitable unless closely timed. Our side of bacon could have been more crispy as it was soggy. Perhaps the kitchen staff could swap positions for crispy bacon and well, but not overcooked potatoes. My eldest daughter's Besaws Omelette was well prepared and her potatoes looked cooked properly. So we're not sure why there was such a difference. We do miss the pre-pandemic gluten free options, especially the gluten free pancakes and French toast. We'd love to see those options make a return.

If you want a break from the larger Italian restaurants in town, this place is worth a visit. Small intimate space, lots of regulars, the owner making the rounds and great food. Our small group had everything from a cocktail, to a gluten-free vegetarian entrée, the more traditional meat & pasta dishes and desert - enjoyed them all. If the weather is warm, it's on a relatively quiet street, so outdoor dining is more peaceful than most in the area.

I'd give more stars if I could! The staff was very kind, the restaurant was cute, and the food was absolutely incredible. I have celiac disease but there were tons of gluten free options (the gf pita was divine). I also accidentally left my phone in the booth after dinner, but they went out of their way to catch up to me and make sure I didn't leave it behind. A wonderful experience and I will definitely be back.

Church Bar is born again and this revival is well worth the wait! The NEW Church Bar was resurrected and opened on April 15, 2022 I am in awe of the new owners (Lauren and Anthony) for all their dedication to beautifying Church Bar!! They have put heir heart and souls into completely updating the interior and rebranding Church. Their attention to detail is glorious! Their carefully created cocktail list is diverse and offers a little bit of something for everyone. They also have a wide spectrum of draft beers as well as seltzer and cider offerings. Their daily slushies are joyous and tasty! Their food menu is great with a little of something for everyone! I LOVE everything on the menu and trust me, I’ve tried everything!! I love to start with the delectable deviled eggs and the tantalizing sacred nuts! Mercy me! The ribletts and Shoestring Sweet Onions (V/GF) are two of my absolute favorite go-tos! The shoestring fries are thinly sliced onions marinated in buttermilk,dredged in seasoned flour then fried, served with ranch dressing. Every time I eat them, I am certain that I am in culinary heaven. The Fried Spaghetti Squash (Roasted spaghetti squash, herbs, mixed cheese, leeks served with smoked tomato sauce) is another favorite of mine! They have plenty of gluten-free and vegan options available. They also have occasional food pop-up such as Trinidad and ??? Food. Check out their Instagram for PopUp info #churchbarpdx Check out the ceiling- it’s unique representation of the Sistine Chapel! And the bar top is a beautiful “river” of color. The new owners had it custom coded yes one more unique beautiful aspect of the newly reborn Church Bar! The “confessional” is a photo booth. We’ve made so many fun memories in the “confessional” Church has a huge array DJ’s that provide lively dancing music every night. They have extended their hours and hours constantly reinventing themselves. They’ve added trivia on Wednesday nights and they have a fairly regular stream of pop up food options. Follow them on social media for updates, special events, pop-up info The revival of Church Bar is awe-inspiring! Huge shout out to all the friends, family and customers that continue to support Church Bar - especially during this seemingly never ending pandemic purgatory. I beseech you to join me in helping making Church Bar hugely successful. I have faith that their efforts will payoff in dividends and they will have faithful followers. Love this spot! We’ve got a one y/o and this happy hour became tradition after all our appointments at providence. We’re rarely the only ones with a kid, which is nice to not feel like weirdos bringing our kid to a tavern. But I’ve never witnessed any meltdowns. This is a spot for chill kids haha. They’ve got a few high chairs. I always get the lamb burger off the standard menu even at HH cuz it’s so good 🤤 I’m gluten free and they’re super helpful. They’ve got GF buns. The kale salad (no croutons) has gotten even better lately!! The fryer is apparently cross-contaminated with gluten (from fish n chips, etc), but I personally haven’t had an issue with their french fries. No promises for you tho 🤷🏻‍♀️ Good rotating draft selection. They always have either a cider or a seltzer on tap for GF. Cocktails are solid!

Glad to make it to the original Lardo. Vietnamese meatball sandwich and same as a gluten free (without the bun) on a bed for amazing fries (one of the gluten-free options). Crunchy salad was so fresh and delicious. Service was welcoming and excellent; locals were charming and friendly.

Excellent food - everything from the fries to the salads is delicious. Great cocktails too! The happy hour is one of the best in town. I do wish there were just a few more gluten-free options, but I can't complain that much because they have this gf warm chocolate brownie that I would sell my soul for.

We had truly one of the worst customer service experiences ever at this place. We had the rudest waitress. Our large party called ahead of time to request to go over the normal allowed limit. Our request was approved but the waitress who had us was PISSED at our table size despite us being kind customers. She scoffed at two of us for asking for gluten free options. At the end, our group organizer asked her if we had upset her and she said “ACTUALLY yes, you are breaking our table size rule” and went off about it, then told us she wouldn’t continue taking care of us and we had a switch off of servers. The whole table was appalled. We ordered plenty of dishes with a large check and were friendly. Our two families will never recommend this place because of this waitress

Tonight was an awful experience. My order was wrong twice. I ordered corn tortilla tacos and got flour. I’m gluten intolerant so I had to send it back which I hate to do. When the corn tacos came back they were the wrong tacos. I seriously hate to complain, and had to ask the server to just take it off the bill since it was too late and I didn’t want to have to have them remake again. The manger OJ came back and wanted to prove us wrong. And argued with us and said that we were wrong when even our sever admitted the original order was flour tortillas. I understand accidents happen and I wasn’t upset I just didn’t want to pay for something I couldn’t eat. OJ is extremely unprofessional and rude. Matador use to be one of my favorite restaurants and after tonight I won’t be back. The way OJ handled the situation was completely out of line.
