My husband and I recently visited Philly for the first time. Prior to the visit, we'd seen an episode of the Netflix show the Chef's Table featuring Kalaya and it's amazing owner. We couldn't wait for our trip so we could experience this place. And man was it worth it!!! The food is EXCELLENT. We went for lunch so the menu is limited compared to dinner (next time we're definitely going for dinner instead) but there were still plenty of delicious offerings. Like others have said, when they say spicy they mean it! The staff was very knowledgeable and service was fast. Definitely have the Gui Chai chive cakes appetizer. And try the nam prik almond (pictured)! For dessert, the Thai tea tiramisu was superb! Also, most everything is gluten free😊

The online menu isn't super well-labeled, but the staff are extremely knowledgable! I have Celiac Disease, and I accidentally ordered a dish (online) that could not be made gluten-free. The server, Gabby, immediately called me to let me know and suggested a really wonderful gluten-free alternative. The food was ready super quickly and the staff was very friendly.

The food is reliably good. Curries are flavorful and appetizers are great to share. The recent menu update makes it really clear what is vegetarian and gluten free. The Cornish hen is juicy and has a balanced char. If you have room, try the mango sticky rice. I almost always share a pot of ginger tea here too. Great comfort food and something for everyone.
