Illustrator 220: Texture

$ 30.00

Brief Description

Create designs with added depth and dimension using textures in Adobe Illustrator. Give your work a more hand-drawn feel, all within Illustrator.

Instructor Message

I’m an artist who doesn’t like to get her hands messy, and who has an unconditional love of the undo button. Vector art is a perfect fit for me, but I don’t always want my designs to look slick and, well, vector-y. In this class, I will go through all of my go-to techniques for adding texture in Illustrator. Believe me, there are a lot of methods, and not one “right way.” There are a lot of right ways, and a lot of cool things you can do.

Over the course of 2 weeks, we will explore a variety of techniques and effects, including (but not limited to) watercolor, paper, adding grain, using metallics, and using brushes to create vector art that feels hand done.

As part of the course, you will receive 20+ texture files that you can use in your own artwork.

Learning Objectives

  • Use vector and raster textures within Illustrator to add depth to your designs.
  • Use best practices for keeping file size manageable.
  • Create your own textures.
  • Create 2 projects applying the techniques learned in class.
